Helpful book!

As a senior over 60 , I've noticed an increased need for exercise to maintain my strength and continue daily activities without undue effort. The first three-fourths of the book talks about the need for and benefits of exercise which for me was like preaching to the choir. When I finally got to the exercises, I was not disappointed. All he activities I was able to sample were good, effective, and safe. I'd feel good recommending this book to anyone over 60 , particularly if they have been living a sedentary lifestyle.

Easy to Follow and Age Tailored

Gave this to my grandparents, and they couldn't be more grateful for it. They use the routines when they exercise, and each one seems suited to their mobility and strength levels. Each exercise specifically targets muscle groups and fitness levels safe and appropriate for their ages, and they don't need a TV or other device to follow along. A big issue with both of them is their hearing, and the the narration is also easy for them to follow along with, and understand. It sounds like they're planning on using this for years to come, excellent product.

Practical with helpful advice

A great gift for my parents

This audiobook does a great job of inspiring older adults to exercise.
It thoroughly covers the realities of the effects of aging (mental decline, loss of muscle, etc), and shows how, despite these things, there is much hope.
The exercises are easy, and I can see how they'd be very effective!
I also really like how the author stresses mindset, perspective, and goal setting.

Comprehensive & motivational guide for aging well

What I liked most about this listen is the focus on the idea of goals and goal setting. The author gives examples of successful businesspeople and celebrities with a tie to their goal setting (and resulting success in life). As an entrepreneur, I found this to be an interesting link to healthy aging and fitness. I have a lot of books like this, but this format held my interest and helped me think about fitness from a different angle.

I also liked how the author matched specific exercises with how they will help me with everyday tasks. We've all seen that person who can barely stand up from a seated position and I don't want that to be part of my future.

At the end, there are several easy to follow workouts. At times, I get bored with doing the same exercises and lose motivation. With these new workouts, I can just drop the frustration of trying to sort out what I'm going to do. I can just play a workout, pause to do the motions, regroup, take another listen, do the movements, etc. My husband and I travel often, so this type of format helps when we're in hotel gyms or even when we have no/limited equipment (the author gives examples of what to use when you don't have gym equipment).

Overall, this is a well-written and researched audiobook. It's very comprehensive. A good investment.

Great audiobook! Inspirational and Motivating

I liked how the author started off right at the beginning talking about seniors and their varying perceptions of aging. As a lifelong holistic health proponent, I know that vibrant health is a choice. Bodies are meant to move and being older doesn’t get us off the hook. It takes more self-discipline than when I was younger but I love being active. It’s even more important to me since I had to sit out almost two years with a hamstring injury that tore an inch of the muscle right off bone. Doing nothing was hard but the pain and the necessary inactivity while going through physical therapy three times a week with no meds seemed a good justification at the time. Not anymore, though. Party’s over. I healed incredibly well, but it’s taking longer than I’d hoped to get those leg and gut muscles back in shape. The truth is I got lazy and started doing the bare minimum. I needed to start fresh. My body is different since the injury and I need different exercise routines now.

I found a couple of possible fitness plans, but everything is online, and that small screen just doesn’t do it for me. I want to be fit and active but I need something I can hold in my hand and refer to when I need it. The Give Me Strength exercises are not hard exercises. I printed off a few routines from the PDF that came with the audiobook. Now, I have a plan that I can use easily and regularly in my own analog way. Doing the exercises makes me feel good.

Listening to the audiobook is like a guided meditation. It’s just enough instruction so that I do the exercise correctly and just enough inspiration to motivate me to keep at it. I can create my own routines, which I really like. Most of all, I like the overall attitude of the book. I am young at heart and I intend to enjoy my life and not let being upwards of 60 get in my way. Highly recommended.

stay strong your whole life

A great book with a lot of different techniques. I've seen many of them in other programs but this was jam packed with more new exercises than i've seen in a long time. Stay healthy while shaking things up by using this book. I also really appreciated that it came with a digital copy of the book as well. It's very complimentary to the type of book.

What a great, easy-to-follow guide. This audio is especially great for people who have never been into fitness. I found the author's tone very friendly, welcoming, and encouraging. A great gift for parents or grandparents...

Seniors need to be active as much as possible without causing harm or injury to themselves. This book is a great guide for that especially if they don't know how to start. I've already recommended this book to my older folks and relatives as it can definitely improve the quality of their life during the later stages. This is a great way to keep our elderly loved ones active in life. Highly recommended!

The perfect exercise guide for seniors

In my younger years, I was a PT and a dancer and Holistic Nutritionist. I always took care of my body until I hit menopause when everything changed and I realized that I needed a new way to exercise that was more mindful of the changes I was going through. Matthew Case's book is the perfect book to do this. He leaves nothing to question from nutrition to mindset and the perfect set of exercises to get my metabolism going while building strength. You are never too old to start taking care of your body. A perfect gift for any parent or grandparent.

Easy to follow instructions as well as pictures

This book has been great to listen to. I wanted to give it to my mom as she is having a knee replacement next month and as she recovers I wanted to give her a book that she could use to start incorporating to help her become more mobile and getting her health back on track. I enjoy that the author starts out with some explanations of the importance taking care of yourself as you are getting older. Chapter 3 and 4 are crucial to really get you in the mindset and start to motivate you to want to take care of yourself. Then you move to setting small goals and start working on those goals. The author has really laid out the book in a way that makes you ready to start doing some conditioning to help you gain strength. I really like that there is a PDF attached that goes through and shows you the exercises. This author has done a great job or helping seniors start to take control of their health and to understand why its important to keep working towards these goals each and every day.

Going Strong

This is a perfect listen to promote an easy and accessible way to stay fit as we age. 'Give Me Strength' provides a variety of simple yet effective exercises, varying in level of intensity and difficulty. The fact that this allows for a safe at-home practice is a definite bonus. This book is a great option for both men and women of varying ages who are looking for at-home fitness alternatives. Easy to follow workouts!

This book is an excellent guide for anyone, not just seniors, that provides all the necessary information to work out and achieve their goals without leaving their home. The book describes each exercise really well which makes them easy to follow. I particularly liked that they take into account the needs and limitations seniors might be facing by providing modifications to the exercises. And there are SO many exercises which made it easier to find the right ones that worked for me. The PDF download that comes with the book is also super helpful! Highly recommend!
