Practical, comprehensive resource

I found this to be such a great listen. The audiobook helped me tremendously to understand a complex disease such as dementia. The author goes in depth about the types of dementia, early symptoms and signs, as well as a plan to action on how to cope with the situation when caring for a loved one. This is a must listen, even if u currently aren’t in the situation of dealing with this issue, as the knowledge alone would help you be more prepared for what life can throw at you and have the tools necessary to handle such a difficult health and life situation. Perfect Guide

This audiobook is a wonderful resource for anybody who is familiar with dementia or who is providing care for someone with the condition. The fact that the author conducted so much research to fully explain the various types of dementia, their symptoms, multiple viewpoints on the subject, and treatments demonstrates the overall dedication to educating and helping those who know, are, or will take care of someone who has dementia, even to the point of providing additional resources. This is a topic that not many people want to talk about. I highly recommend it.

One of the best books on dementia!

As a psychotherapist, I have read a number of books and other materials on dementia over the years. I also have a personal perspective of the illness as we lost my mother to Alzheimer's in 1990. This guide would have been indispensible as I and my family cared for my mother. The Dementia Caregiver's Survival Guide is one of the most comprehensive and factual books on the topic. There is a wealth of information on the types of dementia, the stages of the disease, available treatments, and the need for self-care, among other topics. The book looks at the illness from the perspective of the loved one as well as the caregiver. The tone of the book is one of tenderness and caring while navigating a very difficult topic. The author also provides information on a private group for caregivers, available through her program. I wish I could give this audiobook more than 5 stars. I highly recommend this to anyone going through the dementia journey with their loved one.

I loved it !

This audiobook's 11-step plan is a comprehensive and well-structured guide. It tackles various aspects of dementia caregiving, from understanding the disease itself to addressing the financial challenges, patient aggression, and caregiver depression that often accompany it. Cruz's approach is both practical and compassionate, acknowledging the emotional toll caregiving can take while offering actionable advice. One of many qualities is its focus on addressing caregiver guilt, overwhelm, and burnout. Cruz understands that caregiving can be emotionally taxing, and she provides strategies for self-care and resilience. Caregivers are reminded that it's okay to prioritize their well-being, too. This audiobook a must-listen for anyone facing the complexities of dementia care. It's a reassuring companion on the path to understanding, coping, and finding hope amid the storm.
