Summary

All stars must fall.

Bloody, lost, broken. We live to fight another day. But with so much stolen from us, can the fates ever twist in our favour again?

My sister and I have been torn apart by shadows and despair, and now we each stand alone.

Our sorrow is spun like a web, trapping us tight, and I fear our enemies will soon come to feast upon our souls.

But if I have my way, the merciless sky will have dealt us its final fortune. It’s time for us to take back the power that’s been ripped from our grasp and turn the tide of this war.

All stars must fall, and all Phoenixes must rise.

Long live the Savage Queens.

This will now be book 8 of 9 in the series.

This is a dark, bully romance–don’t go expecting a sweet school for magic with friends around every corner. Fae fight for everything they own and Zodiac Academy is a cutthroat school for students aged 18+ where only the strongest prevail. There’s no Dumbledore here to save anyone’s ass and Lionel Acrux will give Voldemort a run for his money in the evil dictator category. So hold onto your stardust (broomsticks not required) and get ready for a bumpy ride.

It's just a bunch of fluff

Legit the whole series is 90% filler and 10% story that doesn't make sense. Narration was brilliant as always, the writing brings it down.

Oh my stars! ✨

These books just get better and better. I mean my hearts getting more and more broken too but I trust the process and I know the sisters will look after me. Eventually 😭😆

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Narration: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Narration: I really love the narration of these books. I think the addition of Jake to the lineup has made such a difference compared to when Bridget was narrating alone. The pace has always been good for me and tolerates me speeding them up really well which some books don’t. I need a graphic narration of these immediately 😂

Story: WTAF just happened to me. I had a little break down after ZA 7 and was hoping I’d get my sanity back with this but I should have known I wouldn’t. Here comes a brain dump so buckle up…

Multiple POV - I don’t think this term can adequately explain the sheer volume of voices in this book. You know when me and my neuro spicy brain play Lego Star Wars and get distracted by EVERY SINGLE side quest along the way. That’s this book. So. Many. People. I really loved some of them and enjoyed getting to know some of the characters we’ve known for a while but not really known. Others gave me Gareth in RB vibes and I found myself wanting to skip ahead.

Chaos - I mean the whole book is a 🤯 isn’t it. The world is over. Everyone is dead and if they’re not they’re almost dead. I cried, I laughed and the last few chapters made me want to throw things.

My little pony can fly - IYKYK. I don’t even know where to start with this. I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry 😭😭😆😆

Wolf man and Bitey C - ♥️ Eugh you guys are the epitome of the miscommunication trope and it’s honestly killing me 😫

Ruthless Boys crossovers - I lived for glimpses of our guys and was not disappointed 😂

As always this series continues to keep me hooked and I can’t wait for the final instalment!

So many ups and downs

In this book at least things look to be getting better. All of the lows from the previous book are worked upon and worked out. Even though Darcy and Tory are apart for much of this book, there’s a good balance of characters with title chapters including some side characters who manage to land a leading role in a few scenes. The voice actors bring the characters to life so well, I can almost immediately (most of the time) tell who’s talking before it’s given away by the rest of the sentence or what and they’re talking about.
Reason why I marked this a 4 rather than 5 star: wow is it long with a lot of filler that can get a bit dull, I’m glad I was listening to this as an audiobook rather than reading a physical book, those sections, whilst amusing, didn’t necessarily progress the story overly much. I was incredibly disappointed by the ending. I know we expect a twisted ending in some books, it shouldn’t be a rule, this book has dealt with what seems like the depths of despair and it would have been nice to see, now that they’ve finally claimed a big victory and some reunions to actually have everyone just to be given some moments of peace, even if they had been able to celebrate for one day and all be able to be together before given a disappointing end. I wasn’t even shocked, it was just a big let down honestly. It’s this sort of thing which makes me not want to read any of the books before they’re all out. Oh well, onto book 8.5.

Phenomenal narration for a long anticipated book.

The narrators did an incredible job voicing the pain and anguish of the characters. I teared up a couple of times listening to the book. Thank you for putting your heart and soul into this.

How. Could They. Do That!

How. Could They. Do That! Sorrow and Starlight is a beast of a book, the biggest the Twisted Sisters have written to date and those were the words I screamed over and over again along with WHY?! I felt so much frustration and rage whilst reading, Seth and Caleb ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

There is a lot of filler bits but it just goes to show that the authors have really listened to us when they asked for bonus povs from previous books and have tried to give us everything tiny little insignificant detail as they could. I really enjoy the filler bits especially because a lot of time what seems like filler, one thing a character does or says in those scenes ends up being a crucial clue to something else further down the line.

I thoroughly enjoyed the introduction of new povs from characters and getting a chance to peak inside their heads, although there was one that I could have done without. I also enjoyed the interactions between more of the characters, the ex-councillors being some of my favourites except I have to say I HATE Seth's mom, I really do not like her!

More scenes with out favourite Ruthless Boys were added, providing great hilarity from Leon that had me crying with laughter at his insane, random mind. Carson is obviously living his best life, Dante is perfect as per usual. So much of the funny scenes were down to Leon or Seth or both. Washer is also still managing to hang on and he has a new job within the army that just had me cringing.

My heart aches for Tory and the Heirs after the ending of the last book she is not in a great place at all, taking more and more risks without Darcy there to stop her. The Twins go their separate ways forced to follow their own paths and be more independent which will just make them stronger as a whole in the end.

Jake and Bridget have done another amazing job narrating the latest release in the Zodiac Series te emotion they portray whilst narrating just add that much more to the experience, making it more emotional, thrilling and enjoyable.

The last 20% was non-stop thrilling action as the sisters teased us with multiple povs only offering little snippets from different characters forcing us to wait for our answers as long as possible. In contrast the first 20% of the book if not more was spent with me mostly crying, Heartache, agony and so much sorrow I think I got through two boxes of tissues as I read it. All in all Sorrow and Starlight was fantastic, definitely worth the year long wait as the Sisters proved they still had unexpected surprises up their sleeves to keep us on our toes as the book took us on the longest most thrilling ride to date! I can not wait for the final book to come out and find out who survives!

This book was hard to listen to

There’s so much whinging and doom and gloom through the first 2/3 of this book if wasn’t so invested at this point I would have stopped listening. It was really hard going. The were a few flickers of light in all the dark with a few laugh out loud moments though and when things start moving it’s such a relief to get back to normal content.

Drawn out

This series has been drawn out way too long, which is such a shame as the characters are great.
