Summary

Stoic, broody, and arrogant, elite bodyguard Rhys Larsen has two rules: 1) Protect his clients at all costs 2) Do not become emotionally involved. Ever. He has never once been tempted to break those rules...until her.

Bridget von Ascheberg. A princess with a stubborn streak and a hidden fire that reduces his rules to ash. She's nothing he expected and everything he never knew he needed. Day by day, inch by inch, she breaks down his defenses until he's faced with a truth he can no longer deny: he swore an oath to protect her, but all he wants is to ruin her.

Because she's his. His princess. His forbidden fruit. His every depraved fantasy.

Regal, strong-willed, and bound by the chains of duty, Princess Bridget dreams of the freedom to live and love as she chooses. But when her brother abdicates, she's suddenly faced with the prospect of a loveless, politically expedient marriage and a throne she never wanted.

And as she navigates the intricacies—and treacheries—of her new role, she must also hide her desire for a man she can't have. Her bodyguard. Her protector. Her ultimate ruin.

Theirs is a love that could destroy a kingdom...and doom them both.

Contains mature themes.

The Plot was fine the female voice was awful

I found the plot pretty predictable but enjoyable enough to hold my attention. It wasn’t one I couldn’t turn off, I just dipped in every now and then.

I did really stuggle with the female voice (a personal choice) but her constant whispering was a sensory overload and often got me feeling angry enough to switch off. I would suggest listening to the sample first.

Absolutely fantastic

Loving the Twisted series. OK some of it's a bit clichéd but this is what pure escapism is about. The plot is interesting, the characters relatable, the writing spot on and the narration, a perfect pick for both MCs. You just can't go wrong with this series.

A well written arc told by beautiful voices

Very easy listening and good for when you want to escape reality. Not predictable at all and very enjoyable storyline - recommend to any woman who like domineering romances.

Okay for easy listening…

I found this story okay, but I did find it a little boring at times. Performances were good. Story is just lacking the hook that keeps you wanting to hear more.

Another great book

I’ve finished the series and loved it, each story different but intertwined in the Twisted universe.

The same voice actors are used for the whole series and always give a great performance that doesn’t ruin the mood.

I’d definitely listen again!

Forbidden love at it's best

These books are super fun. I usually don't like series' that hop around between friend groups but the way the author writes the ends of each book really lends itself into gnawing at my interest.

This book was a nice difference from the first book, the plot was engaging and I really liked both MCs. I especially liked how the book started before the end of the previous book to provide context. Some people really didn't like the time jumps but it made the romance and relationships feel more real and less insta love. My only hang up was that the MMC seemed really similar to Alex from the first book. I would've liked more differences with him. I found myself noticing similar lines and dialogue between the two books. And while possessive men can be hot, I was hoping for more of a distinction. This book also lacked the friendship from the first book, I missed having more interaction with the girls! They were so involved in the first book with Eva/Alex but were almost forgotten in most of this book. But overall the story was excellent and the romance was 🔥

Story ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Narrator drove me insane

The main character is a princess from Europe and the narrator has a whiny American accent! I can’t get past it and don’t think I can get through the book! If you can pretend she’s the princess of Pennsylvania you might like it!

Just not for me

Alright, I tried to give the second book a go because I heard it was even better than book 1 but the writing style just isn't for me. I'm not going to say a whole lot but this is why it wasn't for me.
.
It's extremely repetitive and wayyyyyy too long, imo. I found myself getting really bored with the story and, once again, no connection to any character. I actually skipped 16 chapters and jumped to the end to see what happened 👀😬
.
The characters are good, I mean...they didn't annoy me or anything, just...something was missing. Again, I think ots just this particular writing style 🤷‍♀️
.
OBVI I'm the exception to the rule with this series. It is SUPER hyped and has a really good rating so, I absolutely think if you're interested, you should read it and decide for yourself!

Way better than the first.

I love this book way better than the first, twisted love. I related to the characters more and I loved them both. Whereas in twisted love, I loved Ava but didn’t like Alex. Rhys was much more realistic and had depth. I felt for him and his story so when he won Bridgette at the end I shed a little (a lot of) tear. I just connected with him so much. Bridget too was a force. She was so strong but still really sweet. I just love their connection so much, it was much more realistic. Can’t wait for twisted Hate! Thank you for a great book, Ana!
