Summary

An Amazon top five best seller!

Who am I?

I've forgotten the answer to that question long ago. Ever since I ran from that house, so desperate to escape, I left with only the clothes on my back and socks on my feet. After that day, I've only ever walked in stolen shoes.

Could I be a girl who is searching for the meaning of life in faceless men? They were all so forgettable. Until he came along. He took me under a waterfall and made me forget my name, and in return, I took his instead.

Enzo Vitale.

An enigmatic man who will only ever love the deep sea. Or rather the predators that inhabit it. Turns out, he's not so different than the monsters he feeds. He lured me onto his boat like a fish in the ocean, seeking vengeance for my crime. Had I realized his intentions, and that a massive storm would leave us shipwrecked, I would've run.

Now, I'm a girl who's seeking refuge in a decrepit lighthouse with a man who loathes me almost as much as he craves me. He wants to hurt me, but the old caretaker of the abandoned island may have intentions far more sinister.

It's no longer a question of who I am, but rather, will I survive?

not every book is a smash

I just wasn't gripped by the story. Soon as the old guy had a wooden leg.... I just lost interest. Didn't feel any real chemistry between the characters either. I stuck it out because I've paid for it but if it was free I would of probs just looked for spoilers and saved my self the time.

Well that was something

Sawyer’s voice actor was great loved her, Enzo’s one, I have mixed feelings about. Some parts were great others not so much. To be fair some of the lines were just down right cringy. The story was not for me

one of my favourite morally grey men

MMC is tapped in the head, and I love that. plot twist was enough to make me snap my eyes open from near sleep and made my stomach lurch. one plot hole that bothered me, but I won't spoil it for you. I'll just say that her accent would have come into question near the end

I expected more

I expected more of the story as well as the narration. I wish I loved it more, but I didn’t.

H.D. Carlton strikes again

where do I start this book was so enjoyable, exhilarating and devine. I fell in love with the dynamic of Sawyer and enzo. there is some twists and turns which kept the story interesting and the last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat in suspense. the narrators did an incredible job and just like haunting adeline this is one of my favourite books.

Soft porn

If you want some poor soft porn then this is your book. I fast forwarded through them. Rubbish.

This book is Everything!

I have recently listened to all H. D. Carlton books and this is definitely my favourite.

Once again, please don't ignore the trigger warnings.
I loved the plot, the story, the characters and how imperfect they are and of course, the writing style and the flow of the book. And of course, Enzo has been added in my list of bookboyfriends!

The berformance of the audiobook is top notch as well! Even though I'd love a little bit more Italian Accent practice from the narrator, but it was not bad at all.

I adore the duet narration style of all the books of the author and I am not sure how I could listen to anything else anymore.

Now I am very impatiently waiting for the next H.D. Carlton book.

could have been better

so this was a let down. i expected so much more . i felt the book was too long for no reason at all. i liked Enzo in the begining & end . the middle just sucked!what annoyed me the most was the time at the island was wasted & dragged on & on with nothing happening & the main characters just being docile & ignoring all clues to what was happening in the lighthouse.. this is not on par with Hunting/haunting Adeline.

Plenty to sink your teeth into.

If you're looking for spice this doesn't disappoint, that said, the story feels a little bit drawn out, and while not predictable, I felt it lacked just a little something somehow, but that's just my opinion.
I'm a big fan of Carlton's Adeline books so if you enjoyed those you'll enjoy this too.
Worth a listen.
