Summary
I loathe Alastor Shaw.
The city of San Francisco thinks we’re rival artists.
In truth, we’re predators battling for hunting ground.
We never chased the same prey. Until the night we both laid eyes on Mara Eldritch.
Shaw wants to use her as a pawn in his twisted game.
I’m fixated on her for a different reason.
She makes me feel things I never thought I could feel. Want things I never wanted.
Only she can make me lose control.
I don’t know if I should protect her at all costs…or destroy her before she ruins me.
Mara knows I’m no saint. But she has no idea she’s dancing with the devil….
The Lark Notes:
I have always been fascinated by true crime, as well as by villains and anti-heroes. A serial killer is, of course, the ultimate anti-hero—the baddest of the bad boys. Redeeming a character who starts so evil was a challenge that inspired me to entirely new heights and entirely new depths. Come on this darkly sensual and utterly brain-bending ride with me! — Sophie
There Are No Saints is the first audiobook in the Sinners Duet. Listeners be warned: this audiobook contains extremely dark themes that might be triggering to some. This is a steamy serial killer romance that will take you on a journey through the twisted mind of an artist on the brink of madness.

Twisted & Fascinating!
There Are No Saints is the first instalment of Sinners Duet, a brilliantly written and enthralling serial killer romance. Sophie Lark certainly stepped outside the box. The premise is unique and provocative, a serial killer falling in love with a mark. The possibility of it ever happening, in reality, is NEVER. However, within pages of a book, there is a possibility. Sophie Lark creatively constructed a dark and twisted romance of that possibility for us to enjoy. And she did a phenomenal job!
I don't want to get into plot details and spoil the book for anyone, so I'll provide a quick overview of the story. The storyline and character development are absolutely terrific. Cole has been patiently stalking Mara, who he seems to despise. Once Mara falls into his trap, she ignites emotions in Cole, ultimately changing a psychopathic killer. Their relationship evolves in stages, and Lark did a stellar job making it work. Their story is dark, intense, passionate, and suspenseful, with gore and other disturbing facets.
Lee Daniels and Jeffrey Holz performed marvellously. They flawlessly captured and portrayed the complexity of personalities, emotions, and intense chemistry. They were convincing in their roles and made the story even more engaging. Overall, There Are No Saints was a fantastic listen, and I can't wait to start the second book. I'm highly recommending this audiobook!

Dark Romance
Cole and Mara are flawed and troubled main characters. The premise of their story kept me on my toes and eagerly anticipating what would happen next. I loved their development as individuals and even more as a couple and their intensity was palpable. As an avid consumer of true crime material and someone who appreciates the power of fiction, this book more than kept my interest.
Lee Daniels and Jeffrey Holz did an amazing job with the narration. The Audi experience was artfully delivered with professionalism.
Definitely looking forward to the second part.

Different and Engrossing
Title: There are No Saints
Author: Sophie Lark
Format: Audio
Narrators: Jeffrey Holz, Lee Daniels
Genre: Dark Romance, Suspense, Serial Killer
Standalone: No - but the cliffhanger isn't too terrible and a perfect place to end the book
Part of a Series: Sinners Duet book 1
POV: Cole, Mara
Steam Level: Slow burn to steamy
4/5
There Are No Saints is the first books in the Sinners Duet. It's slow, methodical pace ramps up the tension without you even noticing Cole and Mara's story is dark, twisted and engrossing. I loved the push and pull between Cole and Mara with Mara constantly pushing Cole's limits and vice versa. I'm excited to see what will happen next.
I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsessions and Pink Flamingo Productions. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Dark twisted romance
This dark and twisted romance novel explores the mind of two serial killers. The book follows two artists, Alastor and Mara, vying for the same hunting ground. Alastor wants to use her as a pawn in his twisted game, while Mara makes him feel things he never thought he could feel and want things he never wanted. The book is the first in the Sinners Duet and is a steamy, sensual, and brain-bending ride. The audiobook is narrated by Lee Daniels and Jeffrey Holz, who successfully bring the characters to life. Daniels captures the character's inner turmoil. Holz portrays Alastor with a voice that matches the book's darkness. This an excellent audiobook for fans of very dark romance. The story is captivating, and the narrators bring it to life, making the listening experience all the more thrilling. However, due to the extremely dark themes, it might not be suitable for everyone. I am looking forward to the next installment.

Mara and Cole
Mara and Cole
Thrills right from the beginning. This author has a way of reeling you right in. Artistic killing in the San Francisco Bay. There are some very deranged minds here. Mara is a down on her luck young artist who captures the eye of someone she shouldn’t. This book has murder, art, sex, intrigue and more. It is book 1 of 2 so plan on getting both. The narration was great. I recommend this duet. Sisters Spotlight 💕

Hum
I think maybe this author and me just can’t vibe.
I wanted to.
I tried.
But honestly.
The ego on the MMC is just so much. And I like the terrible guys. But Cole here? Nope. No thanks.
The FMC is kind of an idiot, but I was hopeful regardless.
And uh, what’s with the art community in this area? Everyone is a killer? HOWWWWW?!
I don’t know. I’m gonna listen to book 2, and maybe everything will make more sense, redeem some people. 🤷🏻♀️

Dark and delicious
Sophie Lark warns you that this book is dark, and boy, she is not lying. It is dark in all the right ways, including a possessive antihero. Once I began, I was hooked by the unique plot and character dynamics. I had to see how it would play out, and I was not disappointed! Equally captivating is the narration. It was superb, and fit the characters brilliantly. The always intelligent and descriptive words of Lark coupled with the spot-on narration made me forget I was listening and not watching a movie!

Going in blind is the best
Wow, I enjoy this author, so all I knew of this story was the title and that it was a two book series. Loved it. I had no preconceived notions and highly enjoyed every turn and situation that came about. Yummy. Such a good listen and the narrators were amazing!!! They really brought the characters into another dimension for me.

Interesting different take
This was a different take on the normal serial killer romance for me. It was a slow burn and while it was an interesting story, the pace went from fast, slow, and then fast again so it was a little like a rollercoaster. It did keep my attention enough that I am immediately going to listen to the second book in the duet.
I think the narrators did a really good job in bringing Sophie Larks story as while they did both voices for each character in the chapters, it was good.

Wow. I don't have words. I honestly didn't know what to expect going into this and I was blown away. Such an amazing concept and Mara and Cole will have you feelings things you never thought you would. I could not get enough of the story and the narrators will have you wanting to listen every chance you can just to get more of this story. Speechless! So excited to listen to There Is No Devil!

Wow, this story is so different! 4-4.5 ✨
I had been eyeing up this duet for awhile but had no clue what it was about haha. I was shocked how it started off with a such a bang! I was entranced from the onset. I really enjoyed this main character, she was so strong but also not at the same time. She did have her "what are you doing" moments where I was shaking my head but she was so intuitive/could figure our Cole when no one else could. She was so observant and could put things together because of her life up til then and the masks that Cole shedded when he was with her, the longer he was with her.
While I was listening my brain kept going to like criminal minds, I used to watch that religiously hahaha. I was intrigued by the relationship between the 2 serial killers, the rivalry and everything. I liked that we didnt get to see a ton of deaths from one of them, it would have made it tough for me to continue on I think (smart move by one of my favorite authors). I liked that art was weaved so much in this story, esp with that murder in the beginning. I hope he tells her because I want to see her reaction to how he actually made that sculpture haha. I knew shaw was gonna hit close to home for our leading lady, and appreciated the author with all the symbolism and connection with art pieces. I don't want to give stuff away but its a nice mind game! I really really loved the art in this book. The way the author got us in the heads of these artists, seeing them work was brilliant. I love the artsy characters and being able to see this side was really cool and the author did a great job bringing the art to life in my head.
I think for me because I didnt connect with Cole as much (I really think its because of who he is, I mean its tough to fall for a serial killer when you think about it haha). I think its just the nature of this story, nothing against the author at all. I would give this gripping tale a 4-4.5 stars, really good, really different than anything I have ever read or listened to before.
Narration was done well by both narrators. I really enjoyed the female narrator, I don't think I have listened to her before but I 100% will in the future. I am so glad both books of the duet were available on audio because they made the story so gripping with their narration I needed to know how things ended! The male narrator did a good job with the rollercoaster of reactions from Cole. How detached he could be, the anger, the obsessive behaviors, sometimes super creepy moments...all done so well. 5/5 for the narration from me, great choices for the narrators, they really help elevate this story and bring this plot and characters to life ❤️

beautifully written psychopath
I think this book was brilliant. Let me start off by saying it wasn't quite as dark or quite as spicy as I thought it would be, but I'm still obsessed. The plot was refreshing and new. The characters were so well written and had so much depth... or rather lack of (let me explain). Cole is a serial killer who has a hard time feeling real emotion and instead mimics it. I think Sophie's writing was impeccable here because his thought process read as slow, methodical, and without emotion. His dialogue when he was mimicking emotion, flowed naturally. It was so beautifully researched and written it impressed me greatly. His attention to detail, his precision, his need for control and order, and obsessive behaviors read flawlessly into his dynamic character. The romance builds slow, but I think anything other than this pace would not be realistic to the situation.
Read if you love obsessive slightly unhinged heroes who also double as a serial killer living amongst society. If you need well written books and unique plots this book is phenomenal! I can't wait to read the second one!

A different take on the darker side
What a different take on dark romance. I enjoy this author’s stories. They are full of dark, forbidden, unusual and steamy pages. This one is no exception. A serial murderer. Yikes I thought! Not gonna go there but alas I did because I enjoy her daring stories. I was not disappointed. The story is riveting and a bit darker than my normal one but I still kept going to see if she could change my mind.
I did listen to this on audio. Lee Daniels and Jeffrey Holz did an amazing job narrating. I am starting the second book now!

Extremely Dark!
This is the first book in the Sinners Duet, an extremely dark, and steamy serial killer romance. This is an explosive introduction to Cole and Mara's story. The story is raw, intense, dark, steamy, filled with danger, suspense, and twists and turns. Cole is such an enigmatic character. Mara is a fantastic character, reckless, and a strong survivor. Her past is heartbreaking. Shaw is ruthless, and very dangerous. The writing is unique, and enthralling. Lee Daniels and Jeffrey Holz did an outstanding job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to There Is No Devil, the second part in the duet. If you like very dark romance, this one is for you. #TheFlock

Whoa
Sophie Lark is an exceptional author. I have read AND listened to her books. ALL OF THEM. She never disappoints. This book/duet is the hardest for me to wrap my head around. It is dark. This is definitely an original storyline. At least for me. The twists blow my mind. I still cannot decide if I like the characters, but I don't dislike them. The ending is sizzling. On to listening to the next book for the conclusion!
Lee Daniels and Jeffrey Holz are excellent narrators. Their voices are perfect for the characters. They have brought this book to life. Their performances are PERFECT.

I wish I had read this book sooner!
I’ve had There Are No Saints on my TBR list forever and I was in need of a dark spicy romance book after several fantasy books, so this one was perfect for that task! I love how the author seemed to draw inspiration from Hannibal Lecter, Joe from You, and American Psycho for Cole’s character, while also giving him his own unique spin and traits. I devoured this book in less than 24 hours and I plan on starting book 2 immediately! I listened to the audiobook and the narrators both did an incredible job bringing the characters to life!

This is intense!
I was immediately drawn into the Lark’s story when I heard the haughty tones of two psychopaths. Then, I was hit by a the absolute darkness that pervades most of the audiobook. If you’re squeamish, this book is definitely triggering. I, however, have darker tastes. I loved the cat-and-mouseness of it all is my favorite part. Second only to the tenacious spirit of the heroine Mara Eldritch. I didn’t particularly care for the narrator’s voices, but their vocal acting chops are top notch. I’ll be directly moving on to book two.
Thank you to Pink Flamingo for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
