Summary

Survive the arena. Choose a Battle Bride. Master the lost art of cultivation.

They called me a savage, then threw me into the their cruel arena. Instead of bleeding out on the sand like they hoped, I used the power of my gifted core to rise. When I learned my enemies held a cure for the spreading plight of infertility, I knew why my gods had sent me.

I am Dagon Haldorson, hunter and hearthman of the northern shores of Enea. I will grow in strength, form alliances, and win the hearts of gorgeous battle brides. And, by uncovering the lost secrets of cultivation, we may go one step further.

Together, we might change the world.

Warning: This book contains graphic violence, adult themes, and unconventional relationships.

So bad it was funny.

A repetitive story of impossible battles and soft porn. The narrators try hard but simply sound rediculous.

Outstanding!!!

Honestly I don't do a lot of reviews, but this trilogy was one of the best listens I have had the privilege of listening to..I count it up there with "The Martian" and "The Bobiverse" it is well written, nice and tight, the author understands the difference between giving just enough detail to let your imagination fill in the blanks and giving you to much detail as to bore you. I have not had the pleasure of listening to the two incredible voice actors but they made the story come alive with there inflection and vocal control. I guess if I had any complaint, book one and two went into great detail while book three seemed to gloss over events, or at least rush them. but that's just my opinion and a minor criticism I will be listening to this story again.. ***** 👍

Turned into Porn

Was looking for something and stumbled across this series. 1st book was decent and had me intrigued; couldn’t finish the 2nd though. About 1/2 through the 2nd book, it felt like the book started dedicating itself to the intricacies of group sex. Whole chapters graphically describing sex scenes. I’m far from a prude but am not looking to audible for a wank bank either. Found myself skipping entire chapters a little too frequently so I gave up and moved on.

A great Fantasy Series

So before giving you the brief summary of each book know that this is a very well thought out series and I enjoyed following it, it certainly has quirks but most will not find them out of the path of the story.

Book one we Navigate a lot of the support for the remaining books, some mystery elements also. Biggest of all we greet a good bit of the main cast and have a good time feeling out the story points before really knowing the end plot. Fun and active, some will of course have issues with some portions I did not see anything that damages the integrity of the story.

Book Two is probably the most fun in terms of the reader's vantage with alot of action some dreading thriller like times. It is also comforting in a way from what you do know is going to happen from the prior book. And yes many plots get a continuation.

Book Three is a humble closer, it opens the door to other works but makes our current cast settle their debts and oaths, and some not to the easiest outcome. This was probably the most vast content and rightly so, just know that the author put alot of good faith to address the short ends of earlier relationships and missions perhaps by design, perhaps reviews well done. Don't hold your breath to much what you know probably is true, yet also may not be.

Overall enjoy! The audio is amazing and very few nitpick details throughout!

Very worth the credit

Three books for one credit is a deal, 3 good ones is a steal.

The cover threw me for a loop but the books are very aggressive, enjoyable, and balanced. If you're looking for anime girls and fancy homes you'll likely be dissapointed, but if you enjoy small scale fights to the death, training to stay alive, and constant increases in power and danger then you're in luck.

The cast is varied and likeable and grows at a slow steady rate. Rare was the time that I felt like people were blurring together, though this could be due to the great narrators giving everyone unique accents or ways of speaking. The plot is interesting with growing challenges as well as both spiritual and almost litRPG elements for spice. Even the adult content feels appropriate to the situation instead of showing up every few minutes to keep people reading. Honestly, it feels like if Game Of Thrones was a LitRPG.

I do not regret getting this series. It would have even been worth it for three credits even if it would have been a bit on the short side in that case.

If you're on the fence, buy it for the deal if nothing else.

DNF

I listened to this book for 20 hours before DNFing it. It's actually a bit like Bastion, if Bastion was a harem with 2d cutout thirsty girls.

The female narrator doesn't do any voices: all the harem girls sound the same. In fact, old crones sound just like the harem girls. I wonder if they even provided her with information on who was talking, or what the surrounding lines were.

The Celestine Chronicles this is not. The guy's cultivation gives him a massive dong, and the girls moan just looking at it. They'll moan at the drop of a hat, provided that UberChad (TM) drops the hat in question.

Story-wise, it kept me pretty interested most of the time. I just couldn't stomach the thought of another ham fisted orgy.

Definitely worth the 1 credit!

Got to admit I was skeptical on whether I would like this story after listening to the first hour of the main character. But once the story got to the slave arena part it exponentially became much more entertaining. The mana ability system and various fighting techniques are very solidly described.

Each male character's persona is easy to identify from the narrator Christian Gilliland's performance of each. The female portion narrated by Hazel Cohen was pleasing to the ears, but I feel she struggled with making each female character sound different. The first female introduced is Kalin (the blue haired girl on the cover) and was voiced perfectly. But every additional female character introduced afterward sounded almost exactly like Kalin. For the male characters like Ruel, Sherwood, or Daggin I could easily identify who was talking based on voice alone. The female portion though I was only able to know who was talking based on the book saying who was doing so directly.

Surprisingly, the sexual encounters were described with more class and elegance than I expected. I have listening to many other books from other authors that are also heavy on sex scenes and many of them are bad at describing them without sounding like a horny highschooler wrote them. The author here though, I could tell made a strong attempt to avoid vulgar language which over made it more entertaining to listen to.

Storywise, its pretty straight forward, its not gona blow you out of the water, but the advancement of mana abilities, enemies, monsters, and different girls will keep you entertained.

Overall: If I had bought these three books separately, I likely would have given them a lower rating to about 3/5 but this package deal of getting all 3 books in the series for 1 credit definitely was worth it. 27hrs of keeping my attention is definitely worth 1 credit!

On the fence

I like the story and the everyday action.
The cover art scared me into thinking this was an average harem novel. I was pleasantly surprised by the first couple of hours of an adventure.
Then the women got introduced, but I was already in to the end so I endured the harem stuff which compared to others was relatively mild and could be skipped if you wanted.
I truly enjoyed the adventure and story and I would listen again, The performance and overall impact were great but the harem sections were a 1 star hit for me.

both story and voice actors did amazing

I loved the story line of this book I kept wondering what would happen next.
if only the author would write a story on the boys grown up.
