Summary

One moment, everything was normal. Then the World Core woke up and slaughtered almost everything alive so it could harvest their Chi.

After that, it rebuilt everything and put the survivors in a game-like environment, pitting them against monsters and each other.

The rules are different now. Chi power is as important as being able to fight.

I'm one of the survivors. With my knowledge of martial arts and my special Chi skill, I'm turning myself into a force to be reckoned with.

And the women I meet along the way?

Let's just say there's more than one advantage to joining my party.

This is a western cultivation fantasy adventure that includes a definite sense of progression and Gamelit/LitRPG elements. It contains the complete trilogy.

A mixed bag,

I really tried to get through all of this, but after 11 hours in(1/2 of the run time), I gave up, with out giving any spoilers the plot is driven my bad decisions made my people who would by any adult standards have more common sense. Other litrpg/progression novels or even isekai's stories i have read drive plots forward by far more reasonable means but if this kind of story progression drives you crazy avoid this credit expense, I truly regret not being able to return this title.

The author is quite good though, the environment and world building is decent and characters well developed with motivations and goals being clearly defined, the choices they make are just dumb, which if i was dealing with a isekai'ed `fourteen year old brought up in morally strict world, struggling with unknown hardships we know as adults. Would not have drive up quite as up the wall as it did.

That is not to say a younger reader/listener would not enjoy this story as life perspectives change as you get older and younger people will not feel the adverse reaction to illogical and contrived progression.

Pros
Length and value are a good proportion
Well written mostly
Excellent Audio Performance

Cons
Good Writing but characters don't suit the story style
Not for older people (14+)?
Maybe a tad to much comfort scenes.(Even taking into account the lit rpg mechanics)

Conclusion/Possible Spoilers

Given a rewrite this could appeal to most such as killing the person who want to kill you instead on constantly letting them go, not spending almost the entirely of the first book and the MC going, what's a status screen, chi, how do I level up, etc.

But most importantly driving the plot forward with adult main characters by logical mean such as levelling up in their mind palaces before entering danger or having enemies be foils to initial abilities and allowing that to be overcome by smart decisions.

Intriguing

A very interesting take on the system apocalypse trope, although Harbinger definitely needs a high five to the face with a heavy blunt object lol. A very good blend of characters. The Soul Palace is a great power to allow your characters to power up and practice. I was also impressed that the Harem took work rather than everyone just being happy to join.

amazing

Jack Porter has outdone himself in this action-packed series. The Apocalypse is my favorite genre is this one did not disappoint. The story is fast-paced and yet very detailed. The world-building is amazing and the interactions between the group are very interesting. all in all, a very fun and engaging series with great narration.

not recommended

not recommended unless you are a big fan of post apocalypse litrpgs. it wasnt boring, but it wasnt good either. it was fine.

the performances by the voice actors were nothing to complain about, but it wasnt outstanding either.

overall this audio book is a 6/10 for me. if you came for the cute girl on the cover, its still not worth it imo.
