Summary

The surface world is a strange place for a young man who grew up in hell.

Darren was just a boy when he and his mother were betrayed by paladins and chased beneath the Earth. There, with only his paladin's sigil and his quests to guide him, Darren grew from boy to man. Born in fire and blood, hell itself sculpted the perfect paladin.

Years later, after a lifetime of fighting demons and battling a world full of nightmares, Darren finally returned to the surface. But, the world above ground has just as many trials to face as hell itself, and not all of Darren's enemies are demons. Darren's foes lurk in wait, and he will need all his strength to make new friends and build a life atop the ashes of his mysterious past.

Contains: Gamelit system, multiple love interests, and one badass paladin.

Like Diablo with 50 shades of grey slapped on.

Possibly the most schizophrenic audiobook I've listened to. A very good Lit RPG is almost ruined by needless graphic sex scenes. I'm no prude but the sex scenes seem at odds with the rest of the book? And they are so amateurish I can only presume they were added by a overly eager 13 year old boy after reading a Penthouse forum letter! Great narration though.

amazing

great story. litrpg elements are amazing and amazing character building. undoubtedly the author's best work. I was hooked the minute I read the first page and didn't even realize when I was done with the book. the characters are complex the MC is at times hilarious and at times very serious. the fight scenes were awesome. can't wait for the next one. also, Jessica Threet was amazing as always.

not bad, but not awesome

The hero is OP but it's balanced with an out of ^ place sense. The game & setting are too binary and the smutt sometime happen at the weirdest moments.

Pretty bad

The writing was pretty bad, especially the dialogue.

The first erotic scene was good but then they drastically went down in quality.

Premise and word building were the best part of the story, if the writing improves during the next books they can be worth a try.

Also a surprisingly lackluster performance by Jessica Threet who is usually very good.

I'd give it a listen if youve read all the greats in Haremlit and you're looking for something that is at least listenable without ripping your headphones out.
