Summary
Supernatural Squad might be small, but we're growing in power. The vampires and werewolves of London are beginning to respect me more, and I feel like I know what I'm doing - even if I don't yet understand what I truly am.
Unfortunately, there might be a few snags to deal with. I'm trying to avoid Lord Horvath, the black-eyed vampire leader who seems intent on a more intimate relationship. There's also Devereau Webb, who runs a small criminal syndicate and has offered me a mysterious gift that I'm certain I don't want. And across the span of one single day, supernatural hell breaks loose across the city of London.
A suicidal vampire has climbed up the London Eye.
Three werewolves have hijacked a tourist bus.
This might prove to be the longest day of my life.
Midnight Smoke is the third book in the thrilling Firebrand urban fantasy series.

I loved it♥️ but it did break my heart💔 at times
When Lucas says don't go Emma it breaks my heart 😢💔. I know a lot of other things happen in the book other than that and I should mention them like the plot, the story itself, the case she's working on in this book, that the relationship's developed more and the characters to, that Lucas died and it hurt a lot, her reaction to it and the questions I have after this book like what's Webbs end game? Who's gonna be the new clan Alpha? What's going to happen with Lucas and Emma and will it interfere with her work and his? Will he break her heart? And will the box of her parents things be of any help, shed any light on anything? These are the things my brain should be concentrating on about this book and it is but at the forefront of my mind the thing it's latched onto and won't let go off is that scene, his heartbreaking ple. Not much of a review but that's all I've got other than to say that I absolutely love this series and author ♥️ Xx

Great series
Finally getting steamy! Well written cast of characters, interesting plot lines, surprising twists and very entertaining this is a really nice series and finally getting a little romance for our heroine. Very good narrator, voices of characters are easily identifiable and lots of emotion in the narration.

Not as good as the first two books
Overall, the characters were okay, although the romance part of it was a little over-the-top. But it seems every speculative author at some point feels the need to use a certain plot device and almost always, they do it poorly. This was no exception. (I'm not listing the plot device because I don't want to spoil the book, but a reader can't miss it.) Once such a plot device is introduced to a world, and in this case, easily accessed (for what it does), it breaks the setting.
Ruth Urquhart did another amazing job narrating. Someday, I'd like for her to narrate one of my stories. :D

Groundhog Day goes paranormal thriller
The series hits its stride here, with Emma getting comfortable with her Phoenix gift. Whereas the first two books were more traditional police procedurals in a paranormal world, this one leans heavily into action and suspense. There’s more violence, but still the YA kind. I’m loving the expanding cast, especially Webb.
