Summary

Life's tough as an Elf girl stranded in Earth's realm.

When a jaguar shifter drops in out of nowhere and asks for help in tracking down an ancient blood-magic statuette, I say no thank you. I learned a long time ago the key to survival is keeping a low profile. But it's hard to ignore an artifact of the gods powerful enough to blow holes in reality.

Enter stalker werewolves in a black Mercedes and magicians trying to capture me. They all think I know where the damned statue is. Then I'm attacked by demons.

It wouldn't be so bad, but some of them are really rude. Being rude is a capital crime where I come from.

Time for a lesson in manners.

Contains mature themes.

wierd concept. characters not very well rounded

it was OK to start with, my I st4uggled with the concept that a god who's been alive for millenia, constantly needed everything about the magic world explaining to her by an elf. Once this thought entered my head, I struggled to continue with the book. accents not as awful as s9me I've encountered

I just can’t

I read the reviews on this book and thought why not It’s free with plus membership. I have had to throw in the towel. Within the first few sentences I was like “what is this accent”. After a while I spent more time listening to the terrible accent than the actual story. 1 hour in I know nothing of what is happening and tbh I don’t have the time, patience or inclination to go back. The idea of this book is interesting and usually right up my street as far as books go. Maybe reading the book might be better but I won’t be trying that either. I rarely leave reviews as to not taint a persons opinion on a book before they have started them. On to the next, let’s Hope it is a better choice!

Story was great and engaging and just long enough ended a little to quickly for me but a satisfying story and conclusion

The lady reading the story was good and although the first 5 mins the Irish accent slipped into American occasionally this was more consistent at from the. All the voices and pacing were believable and easy to listen to.

I Just Can't

I do not want to trample on anyone but the narration needed more direction than it got. The accents were a mistake (wandering all over the UK while retaining at base pure American). It was too much for me. I really tried but I had to give up. I don't know about the story because all my focus was drawn by the voice. In normal speech a nice voice. Don't want to dishearten the actress. Sometimes you take a swing and .... Sure you will get them next time. But please stick to American.

Easy to follow with plenty of interest.

But is the main character Irish, Welsh, Cockney, Texan or Scottish?! as she veered into all of those at different points. Narrator was also slow and seemed to stop dead at points that didn't warrant a pause which did ruin the flow somewhat.
Secondary character was supposed to be Espanic and yet had an American accent.
Overall great story, spoiled by poor narrator.

Gods and Demons

Really great characters who can be developed further . The narrator spoke a little too fast at times which made the story lack expression and depth .

Let down by narration

Inconsistent accent very distracting had me fighting to build a picture. I liked the narrator’s voice so perhaps it’s a production flaw that’s resolved in next book. However not going to be an audiobook series for me.

Good story

it was a good story. However, let down a bit by the narrators accent for the main character not being consistent.

Good light entertainment

As others have said, wandering, inconsistent accent. However the central character is not Irish, so what's wrong with the accent being not quite Irish? On the whole it was good and I shall listen to the next book.

Wandering accents.

Overall really enjoyed this book and would recommend giving it a go but as a warning the narrators Irish accent has a tendency to wander into English and Scottish territory at times (being from the UK probably makes this more noticeable I'll admit) also despite one of the main side characters being described as having a Spanish accent it was most definitely pure American. I understand keeping up an accent while switching characters and essentially voice acting an entire cast has to be incredibly incredibly difficult but I almost feel keeping everyone American would have been less distracting than only one or two characters kind of having their assigned accents? but that's just my opinion and as I said I still enjoyed the story enough to pick up book 2!
