Summary
Once, I was a broke college student. Now, it seems I'm destined to rule as the Lightbringer - queen of the demon realm. Except I have competition in the form of Orion, the lord of chaos. Like me, he has been marked as a leader. We can't keep our hands off each other, even if he swore an oath to kill me.
It seems we both want the same thing - the crown. And, in this battle of wills, only one of us will be left standing.

Together with Book 1 it's JUST about enough
So Book 1 and Book 2 combined feel like JUST enough story, really they shouldn't be two books though, they should be one. The story feels very stretched out. I've enjoyed other works by C.N. Crawford more - this one feels too thin. There are some good elements in there, but overall it's just all a little unsatisfying. The narrator is good, I actually thought she might be British until she attempted to pronounce the English word for @ss - why do American's always lean on the R?!

Not as good as the first book
Enjoyable in parts but it was long winded and the plot was bit dull in large sections..

Nope
I was excited to read this sequel because I enjoyed the first novel. Sad to say that this one didn't do it for me. I was reluctant to get this book because it's so short. I'm used to listening to 8 hours at the very very least. But...I gave it a try. The storyline felt rushed...although not much of anything was happening. I can't say that there was much character development because we didn't get much more background on the characters than we did in the first book. Everything was very surface-level. I'm especially annoyed with the change in Rowan's personality over a very short period of time. She goes from insecure and altruistic to power-hungry in a matter of 2 chapters and quite honestly gets what she deserves. Actually, both characters seemed to have a sudden case of split-personality disorder. The story harkened back to The Cruel Prince, but it wasn't as well-written. Unfortunately, this is where I get off the train.

As always, another great book by C.N. Crawford. Great narrator, I would absolutely recommend this series (and any other by Crawford).

Finishing the series
Im invested. I didnt think I would be. There isnt heavy smut here. Its fairly tame. I like the story line even though i feel it could be less explanatory. I dont need you to keep explaining that your mother died or the last confession from the king. There are some things that i can deduce on my own

This was a disappointment for a second book.
I enjoyed the characters in the first book, but in this second book I really didn’t like either one of the mc’s. They both so nasty and vengeful. This was a complete let down. I’m still trying to decide if I’m going to continue with book three or not.
