Story
Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Those lovely beasts derive their power directly from their mistress and just happen to kill any who cross their paths. To get there, you first must pass through the Dragon's Ground. Story
Brie would do anything before making a deal with the Fae; death is better than their vicious schemes. But when her sister is taken by the sadistic king of the Unseelie court, there is nothing Brie wouldn't do to get her back - including making a deal with the king himself to steal three magical relics from the rival Seelie court. Gaining unfettered access to the Seelie court is easier said than done. Brie's only choice is to pose as a potential bride for the Seelie Prince, Ronan - a prince who's not quite as wicked as she once thought.

Summary
Orphaned. Trained to fight. Raised to fear the power of Underhill. Secretly in love with a man who doesn’t want me.
I’m still just Alli, a.k.a. the half-human orphan fae, but my life is looking up for the first time. It only took me my whole 24 years. But when Underhill - the ancestral home of the fae - shatters, making it impossible for any fae to enter, I’m the only one who knows who did it. A secret that will be the death of me if I do nothing.
A brutal madness spreads through the fae as they lose their connection to Underhill, and to save my people, my only choice is to leave all I have fought for and go on the run. Unless I figure out how the hell magic that has existed since the dawn of time was destroyed with a single touch.
Well, an entire life spent fighting to prove myself isn’t going to mean anything at all. I must find the answer to the riddle of Underhill’s shattering. Hunted by the very man I loved once upon a time.
If you love Jennifer L. Armentrout, Sarah J. Mass, Holly Black or Elise Kova, you will love this dive into a world of the fae, forbidden love, and a story that will leave you breathless for more.

Ends in a hook!
An “orphan” trained to be a fae warrior elite. A lie’s truth is revealed and royal treachery taken root. This story had my attention from the start and I am definitely looking forward to the next story. The narrator did a great job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Kallic is the half human half Fae daughter of the seelie king who won’t acknowledge her . She trains to be an elite fare warrior and on the day she passes the oracle tells her she has broken underhill . She goes on the run determined to find out who was behind killing underhill and finds Faolin trailing her every move but she doesn’t understand his motives. So many twists and turns it had me sat on the edge of my seat several times and that ending 😳 Hurry with book 2 please Shannon and Kelly 🙂

I really enjoyed some of the different characters like Cinth, Ruby and Faolan.
It grabbed my attention at the beginning I really loved the whole trial part but gradually I lost interest. It just didn't hold much excitement or interest.
Im unsure if I will continue the series it doesn't live up to the hype as I expected and is quite predictable.

Definitely a grower! Evans can do no wrong!
Leaning more 3.75 stars.
I actually enjoyed this more than I thought from my initial thoughts at the beginning. I listened to this via audible, narrated by Elizabeth Evan's. As a narration it was fabulous. Evans has such a unique voice that is just made for a sassy women protagonist with attitude and balls.
It started of really strong packed full of action, monsters, competition vibes. All the magic and fantasy elements you want right of the bat. I immediately liked the MC. She had such a in your face, confident personality and I immediately wanted to be friends with her. I loved the sarcasm she spewed!!!
With the title, and the the narrator and then one of the first characters you heard being called Rowan I thought ih god this is just going to be a SJ Maas regurgitation but I was very pleasantly surprised that it wasnt.
The storyline for me sort of went a little all over the place with not a whole lot of information why. Reigned itself in more as it went on and I wasnt as head mangled. Definitely started to get more interesting and more of a concrete plot more towards the end so I'm thinking the 2nd book is going to carry on and get better.
One thing I will say is if I hear the word "Orphan" one more time I will vomit. The love interest is a big turn off for me and completely unlikeable so I'm hoping there is more on the horizon.
Looking forward to the next.

Amazing start of high fantasy series
I loved Allis story, such a strong person set on proving her worth. Through many challenges starting from a young age, she has learned to be strong, and depend on her strength. The challenge in Underhill made her into a fierce warrior. Now she wants to find out what happened. Action packed, with mystery and a love from her past. Anxious to see what happens next.

Wanted to slap a leading character 4 poor choices!
This book could have been so great but the way everything went down was very unsatisfying! it's extremely frustrating and nothing in the story becomes resolved. The main character is a total fool that doesn't help matters much lol ...
It won't live up to the other authors it claims to resemble in the beginning book description let's just say that!

Addicting!
This book was addicting and fantastic! It has a little bit of everything. The world building is amazing!
Alli is the main character and I found her to be unique, clever, snarky, and endearing. Her story is incredible and awe inspiring. I LOVED the relationship between her and her friend Cinth!! #bestiegoals.
If you love #ALLTHINGSFAE be sure to check this series out. It has a great plot, lovable characters, slow burn romance, action packed, and it’s amusing.
The narrator, Elizabeth Evans did a wonderful job portraying Alli. I felt like her voice matched the main character. She used a wide variety of tones and inflections that elevated the story for me.
Be ready to find yourself immersed in the unpredictable world of Unimak.

Disappointed.
The character development and sense of humor that I normally expect from Shannon Mayer were MIA. The plot and storyline were painfully predictable. I kept listening in the hopes that I would suddenly be surprised but unfortunately I was not. I am especially upset that I paid for this book.

Faetastic
This book hits the ground running and it doesn’t stop to even give you a breather. Kallic, the FMC, can’t seem to catch a break but proves herself to be a bada** time and time again throughout the book. There is danger, humor, adventure and the drive for our FMC to solve a mystery and prove her innocence. Mayer and St Clare mesh beautifully and built a world that I can’t get enough of. I loved seeing the Easter eggs from Mayer’s other books and can’t wait to see what else is in store for Kallic.

Super surprised on how much I liked this book!
I was very pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book and I honestly normally do not like these 2 authors books (just not normally my cup of tea as they are usually simple plots and just too insta love happily ever after type of books that I’ve read by them). I prefer more plot fantasy magic epic tales with a good slow burn Romance with flawed characters and even a little dark...And I could not stop listening to this book, literally I started at night, listened on the way to and from work, and then listened when I got home while I was doing chores, fell asleep, woke up, then listened again till it finished
Only reason it wasn’t a 5 star for me is that I feel like it really could have been longer and more detailed, I almost never say this but the story almost went too fast for one book BUT who knows what they have in store for the next one maybe it needed to be that way, I AM DEFINITELY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT BOOK AND ALREADY HAVE IT MARKED!

Wow! An amazing way to start a series!
If you love the fae, you are going to love this book. This book is EVERYTHING a fantasy, adventure novel should be. There is action, adventure, humor, and romance. Shannon Mayer and Kelly St. Clair knocked it out of the park. Elizabeth Evens did a fabulous job of bring this book to life. I can't wait to see what happens next.
