Story
Life for Alice Liddell should be normal. Work, family, and her general sucky life back at her parent’s house, working as a slutty elf in Santa’s shop. But from the moment Alice wakes up from a terrible fevered dream, nothing feels ordinary. With visions of strange creatures, an obsession with creating top hats until her hands bleed, and an inexplicable attraction to her married neighbor, Matt, she feels like she’s going crazy. When her illusions start to turn into full-blown hallucinations, her family feels they have no choice but to find her help.

After Keelynn witnesses her sister's murder at the hands of the legendary Gancanagh, an immortal creature who seduces women and kills them with a cursed kiss, she realizes there’s nothing she wouldn't do to get her back. Tadhg, a devilishly handsome half-fae who has no patience for high society—or propriety—would rather spend his time in the company of loose women and dark creatures than help a human kill one of his own. Summary
Almost 20 years after the barrier between Earth and the Otherworld fell in the Fae Wars, Budapest is balancing on the precipice.
A battle for dominance is brewing between the elite fae and the privileged humans in Eastern Europe. The prejudice between the sides is bubbling with hate and violence.
Nineteen-year-old human, Brexley, has grown up in privilege, but not without heartbreak. After being orphaned, she is taken in by General Markos, living in a walled city rife with power grabs and ruthless political games. Then, one night, the course of her life changes, and Brexley is thrown into the most feared prison in the east. Halalhaz, the House of Death - where you go in but don’t come out. She must learn to live with the worst of fae and human criminals. The rule of hierarchy puts humans on the bottom, where the only way to survive each day is to make alliances with the fae.
Here, she meets the sexy, vicious legend, Warwick Farkas; a myth among man and fae. He is as brutal, cruel, arrogant, and as lethal as the lore says he is. He rules the prison with unchallenged authority. Brexley can’t deny an intense draw to him, one that might cost her life...if The Games - a fight to the death where only one survives - don’t take her out first.
Savage Lands is set in the same world as the Darkness, Collector and Lightness Saga series, but can be listened to as a stand-alone.

brilliant narrator
cannot recommend this book highly enough. For lovers of Sarah J. Maas, Raven Kennedy et Al this story will fill the gap briefly prior to HOSAB coming out. Fae, Demon, shifter, human, other...it's all here! if you are looking for action, strong women and strong dominant men all getting it on against the background of war this is for you. What makes it though is the narrator 10/10

great story. narrator staccato in nature
I really loved the story but found the narrator's very difficult to follow due to the staccato nature of reading.
In a sense, putting, a, comma, after every, few words, meaning, that sentences did not flow, easily.
I dont know if this has been done during editing or whether it's the narrator's style but I found it difficult and would probably avoid her in future.

Slow to start, hang in there!
As per my review title, this book is a bit of a slow starter but do try and stick with it, you won't be disappointed! I had a bit of a struggle getting used to the style of the narrator, however I do think she really does a great job defining the characters.
The main character, Rex, begins as a rebellious teenager living in the lap of luxury and getting her kicks sneaking around. But things go wrong pretty fast for her....
That's all I will say about the plot - no spoilers here - however I must confess that at times I wanted to scream at and/or shake Rex so badly I had to stop listening for a minute and take a deep breath. It's not a bad thing - I'm a parent to 2 teens and I can totally confirm that that is a pretty accurate reaction to have!
I had already bought and downloaded part 2 before I got halfway, and I've no doubt I will want to finish the series. If you enjoy a bit of sexy action packed supernatural mystery then give it a go

Best book in this category I’ve read in years! I rarely give a 5 star but damn!
I only rate maybe 1/20 books I read or listen to a 5 star, it actually annoys me that people give 5 stars so liberally because it makes it hard to find a book I’ll actually like, to me a 3 star is still okay and worth a read but this is by far the best book (in this fantasy genre) I’ve read in years, yes even better than court of thorns book 1 or cruel prince which are someone of my fav series in this genre, it’s such a complete book (it’s a slow burn so if you want insta fake love this isn’t for you I guess but it does it so so well), and we don’t even know for sure which direction it’s heading, hopefully it can keep up in book 2
This was honestly super enthralling from start to finish, the narrater was great with the character voices, and the ending damnit! I can’t wait the 20 days until the next one comes out

There was so much potential…
This really could have been and amazing book. The basis of the story would have been a great one to tell, however, the execution was poor. The author fell into predictable tropes – I’m not like other girls or insta-love without merit. Not everyone needs to be sexually attracted or in love with the main character.
I like spicy books and can over look many of their fault- but this one... OMG. The “spicy bits” happened at odd or uncomfortable times and it left a sour taste in my mouth.
I’m upset that i wasted a credit on this.

Everyone wants to get with her
So everyone wants to get with her and everyone turns her on. Seemed a bit much to be honest. Running from the enemy, slick folds. Mid fight seen, she can feel them like their in her core. Making out with this dude, crushing on that dude. Pleasing herself to another dude, who I feel like is the age of her parents. Like really everyone wants her and she gets turned on by all men apparently. At this point in the book tho, where i am stopped to write this, she hasn’t actually gotten with any one yet. So idk, It’s just not my favorite I guess. No real emotional connections between characters And as of yet no actual getting together.

Hope you like smutt
To begin the narrator did a fantastic job! There is noting better than a narrator who can make you feel like you are in the story. A+ for sure.
The story line itself was ok, but my biggest issue was the amount of smutt. Ok don't get me wrong I love a good steamy sex scene, but this book was non stop about this girl wanting to get laid and how every man wanted her. And I really got sick of hearing about the main guys giant "you know what" outlined through his pants. All the sex talk was distracting to the actual story line. Unless the author wanted that to be a big part on the plot?
That being said the book was full of action and deff not boring. I will be listening to the next one, but now I know what to expect!

Wish I had looked up the genre first …
At the very end of this book, they mention this is a “paranormal romance”, and yep, that tracks. I wouldn’t have guessed it by the summary. If you’re not into romance like me, skip this one. It’s not even a great premise, tbh. And you can hear the readers between breaths which was a little irritationing. Not a fan.

Don’t believe the good reviews
Story is crap, plot line might be fine but the constant “I’m so strong and different” interspersed with completely stupid and weak actions makes for a tedious story. Add a narrator who butchers every sentence with sharp breath intakes before she can spit out three words at a time and the listen is painful. Seriously - I think other reviewers are so deep in this genre that they haven’t listened to a good book with a good narrator.

Overall loved. Brexley takes a bit to love
people were not kidding when i kept seeing "sexual tension"... and heck yes it was a killer.
Narration is done by a female only, but dang i gotta say she does soooo good. Her version Wick is hot hot hot.
Key words: Fantasy, Fae, Shifters, prison break, Not insta love but possibly fated mates, romance, competitions to the death
