THE TIKTOK FANTASY SENSATION THAT'S SOLD OVER HALF A MILLION COPIES, PERFECT FOR FANS OF SARAH J. MAAS AND JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT
'It scares me - what I did that night. Because I don't know my own power.... But that's been the problem all along, hasn't it?'
My life has been shaped and controlled by the greed of others, but that ends now.
I have burned down the court of King Midas and from those flames, I will rise and wield my own power.
The problem is, when you turn against a King - everyone turns against you.
But with Slade by my side we will fight the monarchs that come for us. And if we need to become the villains, then so be it.
Because as long as I live in this world, I won't be used again.
I must be strong. I must be undefeatable. I will shine like the sun - and blind our enemies...

Disappointing follow up
With a book series this big not every book can be a banger, but this one has plumited the story and character development. As the golden one is now free and should undergo a character development as well as the story should reveal more plot. This book has none and instead now focuses on there physical relationship and sounds now like a fan fiction of a court of mist and fury and not like her own story. I struggled a lot to listen to the female narrator as others pointed out, she overdid her clogged nose impression of a queen so much so that you can't listen to her at all.
Both points make me not want to buy the last book as you won't miss it at all.

Narrator
The lady makes every character she enacts sound like a petulant child it was rather jarring to get through this audiobook so stopped listening utterly disinterested and read on my kindle instead.

Very drawn out.
I was very eager to start listening to this book BUT Bella Sanby’s blocked nose or nasal condition was infuriating and the male narrator had no inflection in his voice whatsoever until he was doing another character. Honestly it was very ‘padded’ but I still listened to the end to see where Auren ended up and Slade. I guessed the outcome much earlier and I was more concerned about Argo!! Queen Malina was just Annoying with a capital A. I’m hoping the next book is more story about Auren Slade & Roth … the ending was a bit too Game of Thrones we just needed a bell and the crowd chanting ‘shame’.

Good story
I had the kindle book sitting unread in my library for AGES so delighted the audio version has finally been released and I could listen instead. Male narrator was great. Female narrator sounded like she had a plugged nose which was slightly distracting. Good story; not as good as book 3, but definitely looking forward to the final one.

Quite dissapointing
The story really did not move forward untill the last few chapters.
The female narrator really annoyed me with the clogged nose sounds.

Very stretched out and boring
Like the most here, I am also disappointed.
700 pages and there was nothing really happening until the end 🙄 I wanted more action and plot, not just to listen about every single emotion Auren was going through, again and again.
And the female narrator’s blocked nose didn’t help it either, nearly dropped listening half way through.
But what standed out for me after reading many other romance books, that the word “mate” wasn’t mentioned here a single time 🤓

Disappointing
I loved the first 3 books but I couldn't even finish this one. The first half of the book was the main character whining with no story development. Such a shame but I got too bored to carry on!
