Summary
Join James, our intrepid adventurer, streamer, and bug hunter, as he jumps headfirst into the first true immersion VRMMORPG game and explores the digital reality that the dev's have kept under lock and key.
No previews? No class or race info before launch? What could possibly go wrong? Especially starting in the empire inspired by ancient Egypt.
Rolling a character reminiscent of an old-school D&D cleric, James takes on the world of Sosaku Online with spear, shield, and holy fire.
Features: VR, cursing, violence, slice of life. No: harem, explicit, telemarketers.

A really solid read
I loved the performerance, and how the author handled MC's character. The premise is very interesting and the system seems solid. Not really a fan of the twist by the end, and the cliffhanger at the very end hurts me too. Will wait patiently for the next book!

Classic LitRPG at its best
This book has all the classic elements of a LitRPG, VR, PODs, character generation, etc. But I’m a dessert theme and with a priest MC.
The book story keeps you listening (well past when you intended to stop).
The narration is clear with good emotional tone, without any cringe worthy moments (such as terrible accents - thank the gods!)
A worthy credit and one to follow.

Recommended!!!
A very good start to the series, alot was explored but way more left still to explore in the world.
The characters were refreshing with their own unique personality and the NPCs were created well with their own background stories.
can't wait for book 2!!!!

Enjoyable story, recomended!
I found this to be very enjoyable and the main character displayed a playstyle very similar to that which I personally tend to adopt. I can't wait for the next book!

I recommend this book
Right up front before you read any further just know that I recommend this book to anybody thinking about giving it a shot. A little context for my review. I tend to take it easy on the first and last book of any series as not every series makes it to “The End” and the first of anything can be a shaky endeavor. I also try to make clear the distinction between the quality of the writing/performance of the author/narrator and my personal tastes should they differ. The first two chapters, which counts for approximately an hour of the story, is almost nothing but stats. You do get a quick idea of the MCs situation. The fact that he's a grown man living with his mother and sister who is still in school. Their financial situation is not good and that's why he is helping to provide for them. There is a new game coming out with a significant technological advantage in immersion and the form of these pods. You can spend an extended amount of time in the pods and unlike what happens in most stories of this nature he does not get stuck in the pods. Around chapter eight is when he comes out for the first time. The story that takes place outside of the pods is fairly minimalistic. There is a surprise event towards the end of the book that shakes things up enough that for me made me want to read book too. With that said this is a solid entry for the first book in a series. You could in my opinion read the first book and not touch another and still be perfectly satisfied. For myself I always like it when there's an element of romance in any story I'm reading and I'm happy to see that there was that here. The narrator did a fantastic job and lastly, I'll just say Well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this book to us the audio for listeners.

a bottle of awesomeness
a great title with enough detail to make it believable. the author and narrator did an amazing job with this title. I want part 2 ASAP. the MC is an experienced gamer that still nubs things up with a new game which slightly influences him irl. highly recommend. can't go wrong here.

Great listen
First off Daniel does an amazing job bringing this story to life as usual. The story itself is well done with the vrmmo type of Litrpg. Sometimes it’s hard to find a good way to do vrmmo but I think this one finds a great balance and delivers a good story.
