Summary

Running a restaurant was hard, but it filled Clive’s life with meaning. Running through a portal was easy, but it filled Clive’s life with demons.

Weak in a world full of strength, all he and his friends have is their grit and determination to survive as they navigate this brutal, war-torn land of magic in search of a way home.

There’s a problem, though. Clive’s been cursed. A little stabby, stabby from a demonic knife catapults them into a race against time to find a cure. Fighting their way across Falritas, they need friends and levels like there’s no tomorrow. Because there might not be…

God of the Feast is a LitRPG/GameLit portal fantasy set in a chaotic land ruled by ruthless Gods, complete with game mechanics, progression system and empire-building. Despite their best efforts, the characters are driven by anger, fear, and lust, and as a result their journey is full of dark humor, violence, and profanity.

Epic portal world Isekai litrpg Sunderland style

If you like progression style litrpg, with a slice of portal / isekai added to the mix, then you should enjoy this story. It’s just as much fun the following series: dungeon crawler Carl, the first defiler, he who fights monsters, the land etc. if you enjoyed any of those series, then you will like this new epic series. You get a long 30 plus hours of quality story for one credit. The pacing is tight. The dialogue is fun. The characters are likeable. The world building is extensive. The action is exciting.

Finally the narrator is excellent. However, if you are an American who finds English accents other than Texan, New York or Californian hard to understand then you might not appreciate the narration. I loved it, as I like all English accents so long as the narrator is skilled in their delivery, and this one is. If you are not sure, try going someone speaking with a Sunderland accent or sample the first five minutes of audio, as the main character and his two best friends come from Sunderland, England and speak like Sir Davos from Game of Thrones. The Narrator dose an excellent job changing his voice and accent for all the other casts of characters who do not come from Sunderland.

It's good, worth reading.

there seems to be no editor for the book, or the editor is blind. the story though is great, the MC goes from zero to hero culminating in a massive shift in power, i like where it is going but the amount of unnecessary things that goes into the story is hard to wait through. the characters are not as developed as some should be, but it is still a good audible experience.

great performance, interesting idea. poor writing

the main characters are in allot of cases very thin on the old reasoning. people changebfrom hatred to aceptance way to quickly. the premise is good. the narrator is fun. but the bits inbetween tje main plot points are hard to slog through.

Awesome Story but...

(edit) Got 17 Hours left but can't take the MC anymore. Even the awesome story is not enough to counter that constant angry crap he talks... I'm a bit sad honestly. like I Sayed the story itself is awesome

1. the MC is a angry annoying Fool who hides behind excuses and takes anything as a personal insult. Which honestly sucks for the story itself is awesome.

2. the story itself is a interesting twist of a LitRPG. it doesn't spam you with stats every 5 minutes and takes unexpected turns which keeps you on your toes:) I liked it a lot!

Needed refining

long story, so this isn't my full review.

MC gets sent to another world with friends after a demon tries to find a recipe, but MC treats it as a gag and unimportant. He is also a cook, but doesn't actually cook anything until 10 hours in, and doesn't bother to check the new abilities he gets within a timely fashion. As a listener this is annoying. MC doesn't react to finding out to having a fragment of a God in him. MC is almost always on the losing side of a fight and rarely wins with his own power.

Characters are very quick to betray one another. It's a very repeated theme that is annoying especially when the Goddess of devotion or whatever her profile is. Basically a goddess of commitment that abandons people when they aren't exactly how she believes they should be.

The story can be good, but it's hidden behind repetitive behavior and constant need to failure to learn from their mistakes. MC does learn and while he does get hanged up on some weird stance, it doesn't hinder the story.

Narrator is kinda rough, some mistakes here and there. Would say he needs better equipment at some point and more emotion at appropriate moments. The mistakes are usually assigning the wrong voice established with another character.

British blokes pulled into a fantasy world

Starting off... Clive worked for a restaurant last year. He's got some friends. They come out to help him.

And then, they get sucked into another world by a demon. Fairly simple set-up. The demon wants a recipe used at the restaurant. But then, some sort of fighter gal shows up and knocks them through another portal.

By the ten minute mark, the blokes are injured, stranded, freezing and starving in a fantasy gameworld -- but they can put a rock in a sock to learn the Weaponsmith talent.

This audiobook is a LOT of fun. Pretty much every sentence has the right amusing tone to it as Clive and his friends try to get by via a mix of humor, desperation and sarcasm.

This is a long, long audiobook, but it's great! I knew it was really good 10 hours in. Now I'm 25 hours in. If there was a cliffhanger right here, this would easily be one of the top three LitRPG books in my collection, and I have hundreds. I absolutely love every character, and all the actions seem completely logical. This is a damn good story, one of the best.

Horrible narration

This narrator really kills this book. The audio echoes, too many blunt pauses, every sentence seems like its spoke like an exclamation, and its read like a book and not like a character.

Audio played at 1.10 due to the slow narration.

Awesome new LitRPG

It was an awesome ride! As an American I did struggle a bit with the accent… but once I adapted to it I ended up really loving this narrator! He tells the story in an amazing way you can feel the emotions which just amplifies the amazing story you’re about to enjoy! Can’t wait for book 2!!!

Loved every single part of this audio and narrator

Okay. So this was a damn rollercoaster - riveting, entertaining and disturbing in turns.

The main character is excellent. Authentic, likeable and... just feels like a real person thrown into the middle of a horrible situation.

The narrator is a great choice too, His accent just adds an extra something to the story and he fits the main character too.

And the ending... won't spoil anything, but DAMN.

Worth 2 credits

Story is great. Puts you in this world. Lots going on but not to much to confuse or difficult to follow. Haven’t finished and already wanting the next. Only problem is the narrator. He does same voice for everyone. Makes it difficult to follow convos at some points. But he isn’t bad.

I absolutely loved this book

Even though this title has a few issues like echo especially in the beginning it does not diminish the overall amazing narration or story, I mean the narrator even sings at one point and he sings well. I hope that the narrator continues this series because even though there are slip ups here and there he adds to the great writing and helps to bring these character to life even further and I hope to see him narrating even more fantasy books in the future.

This book has genuine and relatable characters to the point that they said things I would have said/thought if I was in a similar situation, these characters have actual Arcs that matter and affect them throughout the story for better or for worse. I also laughed out loud on multiple occasions simply because the banter felt so genuine between everyone even to the point that if it became too mean spirited people would get called out for being an ass.

Without spoiling anything this book overall is an absolute deal it has a great story and is 34 hours of almost constant entertainment that knows when to slow down a little to let the audience process things, while also letting characters learn from mistakes and really showing us that these people are truly in a world they don't understand without making them complete idiots unless it makes sense for them to be idiots in certain situations. In addition the author does a great job of showing how modern sensibilities could help or hinder someone in a world so focused on individual power and how selfish and manipulative the powerful can be if given the chance, even if it means hurting or killing millions and how living a long life and gaining tons of power may not make someone wise it may just cause insanity or extreme detachment towards those whom are weaker.

P.S if the echo in this book throws you off at first it slowly goes away till it is mostly gone at some point later in the book. I am not sure when since the story sucked me in and I forgot about it rather quickly.
