Summary

With 265,000 cases in the UK alone, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is more common than people may think, yet is poorly understood. Breaking Free fills this gap in knowledge, providing a route to recovery.

Across nine chapters, it shows that the cycle of exhaustion, poor concentration, loss of memory and pain can be broken, and that there is real hope of recovery. In addition to covering CFS, the author outlines connected areas of post viral fatigue (PVF), explaining how to tackle protracted symptoms that can arise following contracting Covid.

Given that in November 2021, it was reported by Office of National Statistics that over one million people in the UK were experiencing Long Covid symptoms, Breaking Free is more essential than ever. Listeners will benefit from the clear and tested step-by-step guide offered by a woman who has not only done it herself, but who has helped 1,000 people fight their way out of a serious condition back to a healthy and productive life.

With the support of a media campaign, listeners will find that Breaking Free offers a comprehensive, informative, and supportive guide to recovery from CFS and Long Covid symptoms that sustains its relevancy and importance.

Outstanding. A life changing book that literally saved my life.

If you want to know how, with the science to know why, this book is for you. If you’ve been told you’ll never get better and have lost hope this book is for you. Never ever give up. This book was the light I needed to gain control of my body again after 6 years of being bedbound …. I was a mess but Jan’s kindness, insight and profound knowledge was the key that set me free. I will be forever grateful to this incredible ladies help. I know this will help you too. Thank you Jan for being you.

I don't have misophonia but the mouth sounds 😬

Very long winded, only made it to half way chapter 2,the introduction is CFS symptoms ,wish I had skipped it.
Some add about her program for £150,with no way for those on low income to access.
She says there are visual aids free/low cost on her website, they're not there. Her website is full of typos, if she doesn't proofread, I wonder if she's fact checked her expensive course for accuracy and clarity and her paid videos aren't just long winded information not accessible to those with the more severe CFS.

No chapter titles, just numbers. Very little practical information so far, write down positive beliefs and put them on your fridge, ehm that's sort of like affirmations and that rarely works for most people.just might have to get EMDR or EFT tapping to deal with those beliefs.

🙉 The mouth noises are really off-putting especially when she makes lists ,tried to change that with EQ but sadly that doesn't help. I

She didn't even adapt the quizes for audio, you're supposed to have memorised what a) to f) are 🤦‍♀️
Not a great start, not sure I can manage to make it to the other chapters. Heard great things about the book, maybe it gets better but it's so hard to listen to, the ramblings and noises. Her voice is calm and even ,so that's at least something.

Maybe the last chapters are gold but it takes such a long time to get there. I just might have to get the kindle version off the US website and put it through Natural reader text to speech or ask a friend to read the paper copy to me.

Gaslight yourself into believing g you're not ill

How this nonsense gets published I'll never know. Where to start? If you want to gaslight yourself that you're not recovered after acute viral illness simply because you're stuck in fight or flight, then this book is for you. For everyone else, steer well clear.
