Summary

Adventurers aren't born in a day, they're forged in the trials of the Mage Tower.

I never got used to my father’s oppressive rule in the Underworld. That’s why I decided to escape my fate as the future Demon Lord and reincarnate into the realm of Ria.

My plan? As Luc Vale, the mortal mage, I’ll live out a real life and become an adventurer.

But first, I must master this world’s new magic at the Tower Guild Academy. After forming a party with a gorgeous and clumsy woman, I learned that being human is nothing like I imagined.

Not only is my new smelly body weaker than I’m used to, I’ve also discovered the...distractions of carnal pleasure.

All is going according to plan until a danger emerges that threatens all of Ria. I should be strong enough to vanquish the Tower’s dark secret.

As long as no one discovers who I truly am.

If you like light-hearted romance, quirky humor, and a dash of adventure, this story is for you. Great for anime weebs who enjoy shows like How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord.

(Contains unconventional relationships and adult situations.)

I cant. I wanted to, I just cant.

I don't even know where to begin. I went off some reviews that really enjoyed this book. How anyone enjoyed this book without needing to persevere past the first dozen chapters is beyond me. Its so unbelievable boring. Its not fun, funny, interesting, sexy, anything. Its so incredibly boring.

MC gets "reincarnated" into a world he has been spying on for a while. So he already knows what will help him and how to go about doing it, while at the same time KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT THE WORLD. Meanwhile, girls just throwing themselves at him because his not like other people. For the only reason that he has no personality. Why? He is so incredibly boring, not funny, charming, does nothing of any real value. Just freaking bland.

Girls have no personality either. Cant differentiate between one or another. None are overly interesting, powerful, funny, cute. Nothing. They are just there, but different powers I guess. Going along so the plot can progress.

The narrator, she's alright. Made following along easy enough, but gives nothing to the hollow shell that is every character. I don't even think the best ensemble cast of voice actors would make this even remotely tolerable.

In between books at the moment and bought this to get through a couple more days. Waste of my time and credit.

If your looking for a fun LitRPG with cute harem hijinks, don't get this. It might be later on, but omfg these first dozen chapters are so painful, there is no payoff worth putting up with this.

Super good

Ok this book was excellent. It was funny, exciting, and at moments even touching. The relationship development was excellently done. The characters all have unique and believable personalities. I haven’t heard a ton by the narrator but she did a good job as well. Can’t wait for book 2!

Fun Story

The characters and plot were well written. I liked that even though Luc doesn’t understand everything about the world, he adapted and made the best of the situation.

Average

There is nothing great about this novel, but if you are looking for a time killer with barely any plot so you can listen to it while doing other things, then this is your book. I think young anime fans would like it more than others. However, more demanding readers should go elsewhere. I don't regret listening to it, but I won't be continuing the series either. There is just no real draw for me to do so.

This has nothing to do with anime.

I'm mentioning this because of the art and the "Great for anime weebs" line in the description.
For some people all this anime stuff is a big no-no and for that reason i'm here to clarify that this is just a YA fantasy book. There's no anime jargon thrown around or anything like that.

The narrator was great. A nice variety of voices for a bunch of different characters.

entertaining

a great point of view change. Mc wants to get away to start fresh but winds up having to learn a completely new system from scratch because it doesn't work like he's used to. the comic relief side kick makes this a completely enjoyable read from start to finish. the awesomeness of the story will have you drooling for book 2.

Felt a little flat

I found Atlas Kane’s Towers of Acalia series to be quite enjoyable, largely because the supporting characters were well developed and the premise made their harem situation seem reasonable. Which led me to have some hope for this series as well, but I honestly left a little disappointed.

The premise and world building aren’t incredibly deep but it’s probably an appropriate level for the genre and what this book is looking to do. But the characters motivations don’t seem reasonable. I find myself struggling to believe some of the reactions of the supporting characters, and many interactions with the MC feel like they lacked nuance.

I think some of this was the narrator, but at the same time the sort of “overly formal, doesn’t know the local culture” demeanor they tried to give the MC contributed. This resulted in his dialogue sounding more like reading word for word off a page without the normal difference in pace and intonation people use when speaking.

Not sure why the top review is so negative.

I loved the story and the characters all have a unique personality. The story and plot is akin to Japanese light novels which I'm pumped about. My only thought about the single star obvious biased review is the author pushed his buttons on social media or something similar. Can't wait for the next book.

delightful

I really enjoyed listening to this story. The story is a great mix of everything I like in a story. The think the main character is well written and enjoys the fact that he once was powerful and now trying to figure things out. He is super polite and oblivious. I like the performance voice. just enjoyed listening to the whole thing. well done
