Rewire your brain, end your pain.

From back pain to migraines, arthritis and sciatica, more than 1.2 billion people worldwide suffer from regular or chronic pain, 28 million in the UK alone. It's a global epidemic that regularly resists treatment and can totally derail people's lives. But it doesn't have to be this way.

This is the revolutionary message from psychotherapist Alan Gordon who, frustrated by the lack of effective treatment for his own debilitating pain, developed a highly successful approach to eliminating symptoms without surgery or medication, offering a viable and drug-free alternative to existing - and often addictive - methods.

Based on the premise that pain starts in the brain not the body, Gordon's Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) enables you to rewire your neural circuits and turn off 'stuck' pain signals. In a ground-breaking study, PRT helped 98 percent of patients reduce their pain levels and 66 percent were completely cured. What's more, these dramatic changes held up over time.

In The Way Out, Gordon provides an easy-to-follow guide to ending your pain with PRT. Drawing on cutting-edge research along with his own experiences as a chronic pain sufferer, he will help you:

  • Understand how the brain can unintentionally 'learn' chronic pain.
  • Turn off pain signals that have become 'stuck' - these are false alarms.
  • Use revolutionary techniques to break the cycle of fear that causes chronic pain.
  • Develop long-term strategies for living pain-free.

Game-changing, practical and full of real-life stories from Gordon's clinical practice, this audiobook will change the way you think about pain forever - and give you a way out of your pain today.

So Simple yet Hugely Effective

I initially came to this book as already a believer in this stuff having seen significant reductions in long-term severe back and neck pain from reading Dr. Sarno’s and Dr. Schubiner’s work. However, I had still been having significant flare ups and it was the Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) process outlined in this book that really got me to true pain free levels so I can’t recommend it enough.

The book goes about teaching the patient about “neuroplastic pain” which is essentially that the majority of chronic pain is caused by learned neural pathways and the brain misinterpreting safe, normal signals from the body as dangerous and thus painful rather than due to lingering physical damage. This does really go against our intuitive beliefs about chronic pain as it does feel 100% physical but the authors provide a very convincing and evidence-based argument. The authors then guide you through the process of PRT which has been shown to be very effective in a randomised controlled trial they were involved in that was published this year.

For anyone that does give the book a try, I would also highly recommend listening to the author’s podcast “Tell me about your pain” and also there is a 7-min guided audio for somatic tracking (the cornerstone exercise of PRT) on the curable app (under the brain training section). If you don’t want to pay for the app, you should be should be able to find that audio for free if you google “PRT in the curable app”.

Brilliant Book for Chronic Pain Sufferers

I was already aware of the contents of the book from listening to the 'Tell me about your pain' podcasts and following the facebook group but the book bring all the information together nicely. It's amusing and lighthearted and Alan has a very reassuring voice that immediately puts me at ease. Well done to Alan and Alon. So glad this came out as an audiobook!

Everyone should read this book

The whole of the medical profession need to know the facts about neuroplastic pain. The subject could not be explained better than it is in this book. The world needs to wake up to the new thinking and proof that the evidence Alan Gordon speaks of, is true!
