soothing balm for those face lifelong pain

This book spoke to me directly, I related 100%. I felt understood.
What is best about this book is that it offers a solution. I like how the author explains how pain works in the nervous system, it helped me imagine what is going on. I am doing the suggested exercises and I am feeling more empowered about managing my pain. I cannot rate this book highly enough.

This really helped me

Having more than one chronic pain ‘issue’ this book really helped me understand more about my pain. I could relate to a lot of the examples. I have been searching for something that doesn’t exist and this book helped me realise that. I recommend this book if you’ve struggled for years, getting nowhere with various medications that don’t work. Might not be for everyone but it’s helped me.

Some help

I appreciated the breathing and relaxation techniques. Otherwise I felt like there was too much story/useless info and not enough practical advice.

Must read for anyone in pain!

This book is a very easy and insightful read. I did the audiobook and really enjoyed the listen. Dr. Parks does a great job explaining how pain, the body and the mind work together to fix chronic pain. I recommend anyone with pain to pick this up and go through it.

This book got me moving even though I live with Chronic Pain. I began to understand how MY BRAIN was LIVING with Chronic Pain. Then Dr. Parks gave me TOOLS for CHANGING my BRAIN! Yes, the neuroscience that has developed is new and now has helped me emotionally and now physically. I am grateful for this book and Dr. Parks work. This book should be read by every doctor that just pushes pills because he or she doesn’t know THIS INFORMATION. Every person with Chronic Pain should read this book and get their life back.

Excellent primer on ACT and Neuroscience Education

Dr. Parks has produced an excellent resource that serves as an excellent primer to the use of ACT and Neuroscience education in chronic pain rehabilitation. For any professional who works with pain, this is a very valuable read.

MUST READ

I am a social worker and have worked with individuals suffering from chronic pain for the last seven years. I also train other healthcare professionals on holistic interventions for pain management. Since reading this book, I have been able to use many of the principles in psychotherapy sessions with patients who greatly benefit. My favorite section is the DIM/SIM messaging. This book is affordable and easy to read. I often recommend that my patient's support systems read it to understand the neuroscience behind chronic pain and learn alongside their loved ones. Thank you, Dr. Parks, for writing this much-needed book.

Don’t bother

To me, this book was the most worthless bookI have ever read regarding how to manage chronic pain. The information in this book has been written about over and over and over. Nothing new. Save your money.
