About this listen

Immortal cultivators are outlaws. They are hunted and executed, and their magic is illegal.

Anti-cultivation propaganda posters are plastered on every street corner. The Counter-Cultivation Division investigates, the elite Black Corpses are sent in for the kill. None are spared. Mercy does not exist.

But did the cultivators really bring the War of Tribulation? Are they actually responsible for the Heavenly Curse? Are they truly the bloodthirsty psychopaths the government paints them to be?

Wang Fan, a homicide detective, believes that officers like himself are tasked with championing the rights of the common citizens. But when a seemingly routine case goes awry, he finds himself dragged into the darkness of the cultivation world. By the time he realizes the Black Corpses have their sniper rifles aimed at the back of his head, Wang Fan has no choice.

He has to fight the system to survive.

Brilliant start to an epic noir progression serie

Not one for writing reviews but this is a must recommendation for anyone looking for a well written noir, post-apocalypse, cyperpunk cultivation/progression serie. Love the story, characters and the absolutely amazing settings. Brilliant narration by Travis Baldree as always. Can't wait for the next instalment.

CyberPunk with Cultivation

I was a bit unsure about this book in the beginning but as it progressed I was hooked.
The mix of cyber-punk and cultivation worked well together. The world building was great, the characters were really well developed and the story, although a bit over the top towards the end (should be expected, it's fantasy after all) was solidly written. The cultivation system complimented the feeling of the story and was not too difficult to understand.

Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Amazing.

Been a very long time since I was captured by a story like this and I couldn't stop listening.
It's a very well written book with very few dull moments.
Could my favourite performance from Travis as well.
