Summary
He’ll watch you.
A lawyer is found dead at sunrise on a lonely clifftop at Dunnet Head on the northernmost tip of Scotland. It was supposed to be his honeymoon, but now his wife will never see him again.
He’ll hunt you.
The case is linked to several mysterious deaths, including the murder of the lawyer’s last client – Scotland’s most notorious criminal… who had just walked free. DS Max Craigie knows this can only mean one thing: they have a vigilante serial killer on their hands.
He’ll leave you to die.
But this time the killer isn’t on the run; he’s on the investigation team. And the rules are different when the murderer is this close to home.
He knows their weaknesses, knows how to stay hidden, and he thinks he’s above the law…
Max, Janie and Ross return in this gripping novel in the explosive Scottish crime series. Fans of Ian Rankin, Stuart MacBride and Marion Todd will love The Night Watch!
Critic reviews
"Grabbed me from the first page...think Jack Reacher fronting Line of Duty." (Ian Rankin)
"Genuinely gripping, a total page-turner and one of my favourite reads of the year." (Matt Nixon, Daily Express)
"The best police procedural I've read in years - fast-paced, compelling and deeply authentic. DS Max Craigie is a brilliant hero and I can't wait for the next in the series." (Jane Casey)

Very clever! I didn’t work out the killer as I usually do - excellent characters & authors experience shows: well done Neil Lancaster!

Predictable but worth a listen
Last of the three Max Craige books so it’s a must listen but I did find it a little predictable as I guessed the twist fairly early on. Still worth a listen

Foul language
The foul language in his book is excessive , it’s probably the author dreaming about coming across as a hard man , all foul language says about anyone is that they have had a very poor education , it shows up their lack of of knowledge of vocabulary .

Brilliant part 3
Had to listen straight after 2.
So clever. What an intricate but not complicated thread is woven.
I really enjoyed the characters and the narration is superb.

A really good detective story you can easily listen to this one on it’s own but suggest you start with book 1 and treat yourself to 3 good listens
