Summary

He’ll watch you.
A lawyer is found dead at sunrise on a lonely clifftop at Dunnet Head on the northernmost tip of Scotland. It was supposed to be his honeymoon, but now his wife will never see him again.

He’ll hunt you.
The case is linked to several mysterious deaths, including the murder of the lawyer’s last client – Scotland’s most notorious criminal… who had just walked free. DS Max Craigie knows this can only mean one thing: they have a vigilante serial killer on their hands.

He’ll leave you to die.
But this time the killer isn’t on the run; he’s on the investigation team. And the rules are different when the murderer is this close to home.

He knows their weaknesses, knows how to stay hidden, and he thinks he’s above the law…

Max, Janie and Ross return in the latest gripping novel in this explosive Scottish crime series. Fans of Ian Rankin, Stuart MacBride and Marion Todd will love The Night Watch!

More Scottish Line of Duty action!

The DS Max Craigie series just gets better & better.
This time he & his Police Standards Reassurance colleagues have a serial killer in their sights, a vigilante with police knowledge, who's forensically aware. To find the officer acting as judge, jury & executioner to those that 'Not Proven' verdicts under Scots Law have set free, as well as killing anyone else who gets in their way, the anti-corruption team go into full Line of Duty mode with surveillance, subterfuge, undercover work and all the techy spy stuff now available to a modern police force. It all makes for compulsive listening.
That author Neil Lancaster was until 2015 a Metropolitan detective, a covert policing specialist, means he really writes with authority, while keeping his stories lead characters real, humorous & very likeable. Long may he continue with the Scottish PRS team & their investigations
As always Angus King's narration with his wealth of accents was top notch.

Little repetitive

After listening to the first two I found this one a bit repetitive?? A little more thought on story would be good…

Predictable but worth a listen

Last of the three Max Craige books so it’s a must listen but I did find it a little predictable as I guessed the twist fairly early on. Still worth a listen
