Summary
Twenty years ago: a farmer and his wife are cut to pieces by a ruthless serial killer.
Now: a woman is viciously stabbed to death in the upmarket kitchen of her beautiful house on the edge of the marshes.
Then a man called Daniel Kinder walks into Saltern police station and confesses to the murder.
But DI Rowan Jackman and DS Marie Evans of the Fenland Constabulary soon discover that there is a lot more to Daniel than meets the eye. He has no memory of the first five years of his life and has a rather unusual obsession with his mother....
Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you gripped until the shocking ending.
Introducing Richard Armitage, our star narrator
Richard is well-known for his array of film, television and theatre work, including The Hobbit, Spooks and The Crucible. His trademark baritone voice has earned him recognition, too, through his performance on many notable audiobooks as well as in TV and radio show narration. This experience shines through in Armitage's gripping performance of the Jackman and Evans series where he plays host to a plethora of characters.
And Joy Ellis, the book's author
Joy Ellis started her career as a flower seller in Mayfair in the 1960s, before going on to open her own florist in Surrey. When the recession hit, Joy had a career change and became a bookseller, and attended a writing course in Greece where she was mentored by Sue Townsend. She now lives in the Fens with her partner Jacqueline, where the flatlands and marshes provide inspiration for her eerie plotlines.

Another great listen
Another great mystery from Joy Ellis. I love Jackman and Evans and the team. I eagerly anticipate the next book.
Once again, Richard Armitage proves what a brilliant choice he is. He brings the characters to life so skilfully.

Confused
Really enjoyed the plot couldn’t put it down! Very surprised who was the actual murderer! Only point I’d like to ask who was George right at beginning who was killed ! Thought it was Allison husband! Apparently not , he was Bruce ! Who had an alibi?

I was hooked very early in the story
I really enjoyed this, I knew nothing about this book or the series before I downloaded it. But I am glad that I did. I found the story interesting and intriguing. I loved Richard Armitage's performance. His voice is excellent and the accents are great. A great find, and I've started the second book. I like Urban Fiction and Police investigations, so this is right up my street.

Good story, enjoyed it, gone on to read the rest
I enjoyed this book, and it includes just enough science and explanation to be plausible and intriguing. I enjoyed it, and the narrator too. Almost finished the whole series now, I like the characters so I think it's one I'll be reading every book that gets released.
