Not happy!
As a Social Worker the portrayal of ‘Dot’ in this story was really unpleasant to hear. Me and my colleagues work extremely hard to protect children- especially in these circumstances. I don’t know anyone who works 9-5 in this job. It’s pretty offensive as it goes and really ticked me off (polite version), ruining the book for me.
Also Mateus rose doesn’t have a cork…

Hard to like
I find this series so hard to like, this is the 4th one I've listened to now and although I've stuck with them it's been mostly due to not being able to find anything else to listen to.
My main frustration is the narrator, there is nothing actually wrong with the narration but the reader has a very saccharin voice, combine this with the fact the author has created two characters in Jenna and her sister who seem to have the depth of a tea spoon and tend to notice muscular arms and sexy accents whilst holding back tears and the two things combine to make the characters appear weak and vacuous. I find myself cringing when Jenna loses her temper or "takes charge" as it feels incredibly fake. The author clearly wants her to be a hard ass but she comes across as a slightly pathetic teenage girl with a bit of an attitude problem.
There is also a massively unnecessary number of side quests, obviously character building is important but I don't care about the hunt for a dog walker, or the meals where Jenna and her sister hold hands over the table with tears in their eyes. In the last book multiple pages were given over to some kids in car and drug pushing dog walker, neither of which progressed the story anywhere. These little flights of fancy suck up huge chunks of the book which then leave the actual story feeling rushed. At least two extremely serious mental health issues are lightly brushed over in this book, whilst Domino has pages and pages dedicated to his need for 2 hours walk a day. And what's with the need to constantly repeat what kind of wine it is? Is this book sponsored by Mateus Rose?
There is definitely something about these books which gets me to read them but I'd abandon them without a second thought if a new DCI Logan book suddenly appeared.

Disappointing
I’m not sure if it’s the author or main character that annoys me so much. Explaining every little detail as if to prove how knowledgable she is.
I really wouldn’t bother.

A good listen
I like this series it keeps me interested and listening and the narration is good.
Having listened to all the books in the series I have just one (or three) niggles. I wish the author would use a thesaurus and vary 'jiggle' and 'gurgle' and 'twitch' maybe adding in a 'shrug' here and there or a 'chuckle', for example.
Otherwise, all good.

Don’t waste your time…
Where do I start?
I’m not sure why I wasted a credit on this. I wish I’d listened to the sample but I stuck with it.
Jenna Morgan is such a terrible protagonist. She’s rude, I likeable and not relatable to most, I imagine.
I figured the “twist” within 15 minutes - it wouldn’t take a genius.
The narrator.. I don’t want to sound nasty but Katy Sobey should consider a different job. She has the worst voice for narration I’ve come across. Her clipped, “snooty” voice wouldn’t be a good match for most books. I wonder if I’d have enjoyed the book more if the narrator was different.
I’m so disappointed by this that I may consider getting my credit back!

tinnitus
this is the last book in the series so far and although I am enjoying them certain things keep getting repeated Genna's tinnitus right we know Diane enough already maybe do an prologue on the kidnapping then Genna's tinnitus due to the damage done by pc horror getting shot . Also in this one I don't want to give anything away the subject matter was not really explained well enough and I would have thought it should have been a different diagnosis not the one that it is branded about . Still enjoyed all the books and watching for the next one in the series

So bad!!
I’ve read the other books in the series and had enjoyed them. This one was so bad though. From the story to the narrater. I think the author needed to write a book and was bored writing it. I don’t remember the narrater being this bad. Don’t waste your time!
