Summary

'A complex, dark and disturbing thriller, full of intrigue, toxic relationships and jaw-dropping twists.' Alex Stone

Two siblings, both missing for twenty years, turn up within one day of each other. One dead. One alive.

It was an ordinary school day, the day I lost my little brother.

One moment he was on the roundabout and then he was gone.

Missing.

They all blamed me. I was in charge. Even though I was only ten years old.

They sent me away. The hurt, the shame, the questions. The not knowing.

I tried to move on.

It's been nineteen years in exile and now somebody wants me back.

Someone with a dark secret. They hold the keys, they know the truth.

So, I need to return to the Welsh village of my childhood to find out who, because I have a secret, too…

I did something bad.

Bestselling author Diane Saxon’s thriller is sure to plunge you into the dark world of secrets and lies. Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden.

'Packed full of secrets and lies, and in a town filled with an unsettling atmosphere, Saxon succeeds in putting the 'creep' in creepy.' Valerie Keogh

'An intensely dark thriller.' Ross Greenwood

'Gripping... I couldn't put it down.' Gemma Rogers

'An unputdownable, tense, fast-paced, terrifying plot that deftly twists and turns.' Danielle Ramsay

all round a good book

I really enjoyed the book , excellent story and plot , the narator was also brilliant . The book comes with a happy ending and an unexpected ending . no one could imagine losing a child , for the parents and siblings , although this is not a true story it gives an excellent idea of the effect it had on not only the family but the people who surrounded their lives . Everyone suffered in some way or another

Really enjoyable read

Great story, very well written with a good depth but without being long winded. Helped by a very good narrator who I found very easy to listen to. Like peeling back layers of an onion, the history and plot kept unfolding, keping you guessing about what happened all those years ago.
I'm looking forward to reading the sequel!

Enjoyable but slow

I almost gave up on it after 4h in but then it suddenly got interesting. Good narration but definitely didn’t love it

Good story and narration

I enjoyed this story, it is sad and heartbreaking but also has enough light and good in the main character to make it enjoyable. It was a bit predictable towards the end and I did guess the killer but is still well worth a listen. I loved the relationship between Caryn and Dillan and the flashbacks to the past. Really well read by the narrator with clear character voices coming through. Will def read another by this author

Good story - frustrating at times

Bit slow to get going but a good story.
Not overly complicated but this makes it easy to follow. Some of the characters are frustrating and why the village blames a ten year old for so long is a bit bizarre but kind of makes sense in the context of the village we learn about.

I’m not a thriller fan normally but

Ok where do I start I have the paperback and the author signed it for me reminding me not to read in bed. Yes I am that much of a whimp. I used to hide behind the sofa when the Daleks came in Tv ( Dr who)

Anyway I loved it. Couple of suprise that I didn’t see coming. Can’t say anymore don’t want to spoil it for you.

Oh and great narrative perfect for the novel
