Grief and Recovery

I enjoyed this story, but it's rather different than the preceding books in the series. The war with the humans is over, and now it's time for recovery and reconstruction. Although there is still a little suspense and drama, it is more of a person-to-person nature, rather than the dropping of bombs and mass attacks. I have to be honest and say I really disliked Troy and the way he treated Kyler for the first half of the book. He behaved mostly like an arrogant playboy, only caring about his fated mate when anyone else got too close to him. At first, he's nothing like the smitten, devoted Alphas of the first 3 books, although he does redeem himself by the end. Secrets, lies, and hidden truths mar the road to Troy and Kyler's happiness. They both have to learn to open up to each other if their love is going to succeed.

The narration is good, including the tone and pacing.

It was a good story and narration, but for best result i would suggest staring with the first book. Interesting characters with along road ahead of them, but you do get a happy ending.

Kyler and Troy

Troy is not an Alpha, so his best friend Kyler is not for him. They have always been so close, when Kyler comes of age their friendship becomes impossible. Kyler loves his best friend but only an alpha can provide for him. I like that they go against society and search for their freedom. It takes a long time to reach their destination but the journey is full of surprises and yearning. Lovely story...

Continue to enjoy the entries in this series

I enjoyed this story of two inexperienced fated mates learning to build their relationship. Both had some serious growing up to do, one to learn to compromise and give and take, the other to stand up for himself. I also am always down for an alpha trying to claim what isn't his and watching that conflict play out so the right pair gets their HEA. Another well done entry in the series that will bring me back for the next one. I always expect a deep voice for shifter books for some reason but Guillaume Dubois' lighter voice works very well for this series. I enjoyed the emotional tenor of his performance. It was nicely balanced and full without ever going over the top.

What’s a fantastic relationship

The chemistry between these characters is fantastic. The story has been written very well and the personalities of the characters have been captured perfectly. With a fantastic performance from Guillaume, this audio has it all.

Great addition to the series!

This is one of my favorite series and I love how the authors kept adding stories and characters to an already amazing world. This book 4 featured another wonderful story about fated mates, in a complex plot full of action, danger, intrigue and betrayal in which, as always, love fixes everything. Of course, the rereads of this great book are better when hearing the captivating performance of Mr Dubois. This is the first book I've ever heard narrating by him but I can assure you it won't be the last. Great reading!

Enjoyed

I enjoyed getting know more about Kyler and Troy after meeting them in previous books. I liked the slow burn of their relationship especially with the unexpected heat. Also I enjoyed following the characters from the previous books.

Mixed feelings about this one

I had conflicted feelings about this one.

Kyler and Troy’s connection lacked in depth - emotionally and physically.

The narrator was ok; he tried to do different voices but sometimes his voice sounded exactly the same no matter who the character was.

Unsure

Story: I think I would have benefited more if I had read/listened to the previous books in this series as I found myself a bit lost in the beginning. Kyler was a good character but I'm not too sure about Troy. I didn't really like him and his back & forth attitude. It has turned me off of the story.

Narration: The narration was ok. There was time I got confused on who was supposed to be speaking.
