Summary

He’s my brother’s best friend, a Russian killer, and boxer with no ties to the O’Malley crime family - my family.

I’ve loved and studied him forever. I witnessed him change when I was only 13. He doesn’t know I’m aware he kills, or how I notice once a year he gets a call and disappears.

For years we fight our attraction. One night, we succumb to our desire.

Every touch he gives me is electric. Each moment deepens our addiction.

If it were only us, life would be perfect.

Unfortunately, our union creates targets on our backs from multiple crime families. It puts our loved ones at greater risk. Wars from each of our enemies now plague the O’Malleys and Ivanovs.

Every time the annual call comes to pay off his debt, he crumbles further. I’m not sure how much more either of us can take.

He’s my broken fighter....

Broken Fighter is the jaw-dropping second installment of the Mafia Wars series. It’s an interconnecting, brother’s best friend, stand-alone dark mafia romance, guaranteed to have an HEA.

Enjoyed it

After reading the last book, I as anxious for this one and I was not disappointed.  Broken Fighter is a taboo, mafia, brothers best friend romance that held my attention until the end. Boris and Nora’s have loved each other forever and they definitely belong together. Their relationship was an intense slow burn that eventually exploded and will melt your kindle. The story was hott, action packed, gory, angsty and I enjoyed every minute of it. The audiobook was narrated by Gregory Salinas and Allyson Voller. They did a fantastic job bringing out the personalities of the characters. Their voices were clear and understandable and it was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.

Even better than the first!

Audiobook review. I enjoyed this one more than the first. There was such an intensity to Boris and Nora’s relationship that really held up throughout the entire story. I enjoyed the family dynamics and how their internal and external conflicts kept me at the edge of my seat.

The plot was extremely interesting with characterization that definitely went beyond the surface and not just for the main characters but secondary as well.

This is the first book I’ve heard from Allyson Voller but not my first from Gregory Salinas. Both did a fantastic job with their tone, pitch, and pace consistency. Will definitely be on the lookout for more of their titles.

Holy Jesus, Mary & Joseph!

I loved this book and would even say it was better than the first one in the Mafia Wars Series. Even though their romance was forbidden, the connection that Boris and Nora had couldn't be denied or ignored. Their story was dangerous, intense and gripping. I love the way it intersects with Maksim and Aspen's story in Ruthless Stranger. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good dark mafia romance. Gregory Salinas and Allyson Voller both did an excellent job bringing this story to life.

Boris and Nora

Maggie Cole has created another great story. Boris is a good person that does really terrible things in the name of keeping those he loves safe. The way the author weaved the timeline of this story with some of the events in the first installment of the series was done very well. I don't think reading the first installment is necessary to enjoy this story but it was fun to have another POV of the same events. This is somewhat of a forbidden love story and I really did like how they handled the situation with each of their families, particularly Nora's family.

Narration by Gregory Salinas and Allyson Voller was very good and made a really good story even better.

I received this audiobook via a promo code at my request from Aud-Obsession & The Flock and this is my voluntary review.

Book 2 of Mafia Wars Series by Maggie Cole.

We pick up where the cliffhanger at the end of book one left us, only this time instead of Maksim, it is told Boris's POV as his Mafia boss Zamir has just tried to use him to bring down the Ivanov family. Thankfully, Boris has connections that Zamir, nor his brothers could have anticipated. I was instantly drawn into Nora and Boris's story as they fought against their attraction, both being from Mob&Mafia families, they knew the risks of getting involved in one anothers world. I loved the Ivanov Mafia &OMalley Mob elements to this story, and it makes sense why the two characters held off on giving into their feelings for so long.

Nora runs the Irish bar where Boris drinks with her brothers, who despite their fondness for their Russian friend, cannot seem to get over family expectations of Nora settling down with an Irishmen... a preference which almost leads to her being handed over to an enemy family except Boris's jealousy had him looking into Cormac's background.

As Polish, Italian and Russian mafia rivals begin teaming up behind the scenes, its Boris and Nora's secret romance that allows them to connect all the dots, and eventually everyone sees that an Alliance between their families might just be the smartest play after all.

Chemistry between the narrators was perfect, they both fit the characters so well and I really enjoyed this book.

Amazing!

Boris and Nora's connection is off the charts. The chemistry is hot and heavy and I was so there for it!

I wanted the family to all get their happy ending but of course that didn't happen. Now I need the next book in the series to see what they are going to do.. no spoilers here but man I am hoping for the best. Sometimes life is just really tough. Here's hoping for the best though!

And here I go again doting on Gregory Salinas but there really isn't anything that man can't do.. Give him an accent and he will NAIL it!! This was the first book I listened to by Allyson Voller but she did a wonderful job too.

Broken Fighter

Love it! These books are so intense and pull out every emotion for you. I absolutely love mafia books so knew this would be right up my alley, but it was so much more for me. The characters are so full of life and the story is so interesting. And then the epilogue!!!! Even though this is a stand alone, I need the next book soon!

Love this world and these characters

Ooooo I am so pleased to be back in this world with this group of characters again. Just one thing that bugs me, if you've read/heard the first book you kinda know the outcome of this one, though it's so worth listening to to get this angle on things. Gregory Salinas and Allyson Voller do a fabulous job with the voices. I was hooked the whole way through.

Broken Fighter is the second book in Mafia Wars and the first I've read by Maggie Cole. While these stories are interconnected I feel as if Maggie Cole did a good job catching me up. I had no problems following along. Also, I'm addicted. Broken Fighter is dark, intense, sexy action-packed, suspenseful and full of twists and turns that were unexpected but not really surprising. I loved exploring this new-to-me world and can't wait to read more.

A Great Listen

This is the second book in the Mafia Wars Series from Maggie Cole. I did not read or listen to the further book before diving into this one but I can tell you I really want to go back and listen to it now too. This is a brother's best friend stand alone dark mafia romance and it will not end in a cliffhanger. This is the story of Nora and Boris. They have known each other for forever as Boria is her brothers best friend. Nota has had a crush on him for as long as she can remember. He has the same feelings for her but because she js and Irish O'Malley and he is a Russian from the Ivanoff family. This causes Boris to love her from afar. There families might tolerate each tidhrr but there is no way that Nora is ever going to be allowed to marry a man who isn't Irish. These two come up with a lot of reason they can not be together. After all he is ger brothers best friend and he might not be happy. I felt like maybe they were self sabotaging. This is a slow burn of a book and I love how we got to look back at things that have gone on between them and I feel like if I had listened to the first book I would have net them there and had some information But because this book give you their history you aren't lost or anything. These two have yo decide of excuses are goijg to keep them apart or if they as a couple are worth fighting for. I will say that I got super frustrated woth Nora but don't give up on her she will redeem herself. I loved the push and pull of this book. The history of the two we got to see and I loved the way you could tell you were peeling back layers of their story to get to the end. This was a great listen and I enjoyed listening to the voices the narrators gave these characters.

Great series

First I was so excited to find a new author and new narrators for the first time. The story was complete believable. At first I wasn’t liking the week off thing but it added som emotional torment to the hero. Some what gruesome at times and witty lines. Fantastic epilogue leaving me wanting more . Ready for the next one

Broken Fighter

Wow this book is 🔥. We first meet Boris and Nora in book one; Ruthless Stranger. In this book we get more of their background and to see how much Boris loves Nora! Just when the Ivanov's think they are one step ahead of their enemies something changes. This book ends on a HFN for Boris and Nora. I can't wait to see who the next Ivanov is next! Gregory Salinas and Allyson Voller did an amazing job narrating this book.

Great Continuation

I'm really enjoying Maggie Cole's IVANOV FAMILY MAFIA WARS series. She is a good writer with great storylines and wonderful characters. Seeing characters from one book to another is a favorite of fans. Even though this can be listened to as a standalone, it's even better as a series! Especially since there are little cliffhangers at the end to a overall story plot.

Boris and Nora's story was heartbreaking. Boris had my heart from the beginning. He's so broken but strong enough to overcome. Nora was unsure until she needed to tap into the strength she owned and stand by Boris's side. Sweet HEA after a bit of intense waiting.

Gregory Salinas and Allyson Voller are excellent narrators. They make listening to the audiobook easy.

intense, action packed

Nora O'Malley has always been expected to marry Irish and have Irish babies. But the heart wants someone else. Boris Ivanvov, her brother's best friend and a Russian.
The Ivanovs' try to stay out of the war between the Rossi's and O'Malleys, Their worlds shouldn't collide. but it does.
Their friendship with the O'Malley clan makes them a target. When Nora was being threatened, that's when Boris gets involved.
Nora and Boris always had an attraction, to each other, from side glaces, soft touches, to lust, hot sizzling sex and love.
This story is intense, full of corruption, danger, intrigue, retribution and murder. Just when things start to calm a bit, Maggie Cole throws in a twist. and now Chicago mafias are on the brink of war.
I can't say enough how wonderful Gregory Salinas and Allyson Voller are. The accents, emotions of all characters are superb. They both made this an enjoyable listen. I am anxiously waiting for the next book in this series.
I was gifted this audio and offered my honest opinion.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧Riveting & Heartfelt!

Maggie Cole pens another awesome novel in her “Mafia Wars” series. I loved the first book of the series “Ruthless Stranger” it had been my first book written by Ms. Cole and I was wondering if she was going to be able to top that book or even keep up with the momentum she created. She did not disappoint one bit, I loved this book just as much, maybe even a little more because these two characters Boris Ivanov and Nora O’Malley found their way into my heart. Hearing what the Ivanov’s went thru when they were younger broke my heart, but they did not let it break them, they grew from it but there was an everlasting connection to their past in the form of a debt to Petrov the leader of a Russian mob family. It is Boris who has to pay that debt, he and Petrov have an arrangement one he is bound to or there would be consequences for him and his family. But it gets harder for him each time and now he has other things in his life to consider and take care of. Boris and Killian O’Malley are good friends, they spare in the same gym and hang together in the O’Malley bar which his sister Nora just took over. Boris and Nora have feelings for each other but it could never go anywhere, her brothers want to with an Irishman and not a Russian. There is great chemistry between them and even when they give in they have to keep it a secret. He knows he is not good for her, that he has too many complications in his life and he does not want to bring them to hers. But she sees things differently she knows her family has their own mob dealings which brings in trouble. Can these two really stay apart and do they really have to? I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, action, thrilling suspense, heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. The world building continues in this book as more characters and power players are introduced, I loved how Ms. Cole brings these two families together to make them more powerful in the Chicago mafia world. They are forcing the other mafia families to come out and play. Maggie Cole thank you for another amazing story, like the first book it is entertaining, enjoyable and an unpredictable and emotional rollercoaster ride. I am looking forward to what happens next in this awesome series.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Gregory Salinas and Allyson Voller are fabulously talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They bring the characters to life, humanize them, give each their own distinct voice and personality. Their portrayal of each character was spot on, I loved how they took each role and made it their own sounding believable and just as I pictured them to sound. Gregory Salinas plays Boris’ role with perfection and Allyson Voller did the same for Nora. Both are great performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, capture all of the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧
