Summary

Blood stains my hands, my soul, my heart, yet I’ll shed more to keep her safe.

A chance meeting brings Jen MacNeill into my life - the woman born to reign at my side. She just doesn’t know it yet. How could my lady be anything other than a silken promise taunting me with every breath she takes?

A new don reigns over Manhattan. But though I won the war, peace isn’t easily brokered. Over a decade of avenging my father’s death, I made many enemies. To each and every one, Jen’s a target. But I’ll paint New York City red before I let them harm her. I just never imagined I’d be in the line of fire first.

A heart broken by grief can feel no guilt or shame with the brutality in which vengeance is delivered. This is the first part of the Oath duet in the Valentini Family series.

Holy Mary Mother of Silcilian mafia hotness!!!

Holy Mary Mother of Sicilian mafia hotness!!!
The Don starts off with a bang, quite literally, I mean who doesn’t love a good filthy anal screwing to kick start a book. It’s something I wasn’t expecting but was very happy to enjoy with my cup of tea and cornflakes!
The Don is book one of the Valentini family duet and interconnects with the Five Point Series. I am waiting for the Five Point Series to come to audio (14/02) before I dive into the that world, but I had no problem understanding the various relationships.
Luciu Valentini is new to New York and makes a name for himself as he steps up as head of the Sicilian mafia, not Italian, Sicilian! Luciu is a highly intelligent man. He’s an educated MBA graduate who never intended to take over the family business yet found his way to the top after everything was taken from his family.
Jen MacNeill (Fi) is a fantastic heroine. You’ve got to love a woman who has the balls to barge into a Don’s office, bend over his desk and demand butt stuff! Jen is the daughter of a whore, a self-professed gold digger who has spent her life fighting for the little she has. When Jen meets Luciu, she knows he’s mafia and is a dangerous man, yet she can’t stay away from him.
Joe Arden gives a masterclass in how to portray a highly intelligent, dangerously menacing mafia Don! Alpha Joe came out to play in the most delicious way. Growly, sensuous, dominant, loving, and downright dirty…absolutely incredible!
CJ Bloom’s performance as Jen is quite simply magnificent! CJ manages to capture the fiery, take no crap side of Jen’s personality and slips easily into the softer, vulnerable side while also showing her to be the sexy siren she is! A stellar performance by an incredible duo!
I loved this first instalment of the mafia duet and my first book from Serena, it certainly won’t be my last by this fabulous author.
My favourite line of the book “When he tells you his face is his throne, there’s only one thing to do…take a seat!” - Jen

Serena Akeroyd has been my go to Mafia writer for over a year and this is why.

I almost feel like I’m cheating on my Irish Mob lovers with this Sicilian heart throb though. Luciu has so many things he plans to do to claim back everything he lost. As the new Don he isn’t afraid to get dirty….in every way.
These audios have bought to life a couple that I wasn’t sure I loved until I was in their story.
I’ve listened to multiple audiobooks and I have to admit that this is the first time I’ll be looking for a narrator specifically. Something about these guys have made these books somehow even more addictive and I cannot wait to get the next book in the duet.
And since I’m a glutton for punishment this definitely ends on a cliffhanger!! I’m so relieved that The Lady is already waiting for me to listen to!

Who doesn’t love Luciu?

I first read the book and loved it so much I had to get the audiobook.
The narration is brilliant and I just love Joe Arden’s voice.
100% recommended for any mafia romance fans, Serena Akeroyd’s story telling really is one of my favourites and the audiobooks help to bring the characters to life.

Loved it! Great start to the series!

The Don is another stunning book by one of my favorite authors! I couldn't have even guessed what would happen in this book! Both narrators are awesome, I especially love how deep Joe Arden's voice gets when he reads some of the spicier scenes. I love Luciu and Jen together. They complete each other and I think that's amazing! But the cliffhanger, oh the cliffhanger! I need The Lady Asap!
I love the story, the narration is amazing as always with those two great narrators and a Serena Akeroyd book. She just has a way with words!

Sublime

I love this book and listening to it instead makes me feel like I am living the story. Joe Arden and CJ Bloom as Lucio and Jen are sublime.  Joe Arden's Sicilian accent  makes me melt.

While this is this book is set in The Five Points universe, it is book one in a stand alone duet. I would definitely recommend reading both The Feckers and The Sinners, just so you can experience the genuis that is Serena Akeroyd.

OMGOODNESS!!!!

Joe Arden (as Luciu) and CJ Bloom (as Jen) have sold me on audiobooks!!

Joe's voice is just perfection! And I could listen to him as Luciu for hours, he brings Luc vividly to life and gives this story a whole new edge!

I love CJ Bloom as Jen, she really brings her character to life, embracing Jen's sass and energy and portraying her so well.

Together, these narrators have taken an amazing story and pushed it further. PERFECT!!!

The story is fast and all consuming, what happens when Jen and Luc cross Sparks fly!

Wow!

This is one heck of a listen! With a storyline revolving round members of different criminal empires and featuring Luciu and Jen, the clash of strong personalities, the lengths to which people will go to make a life and defend a way of life, are closely examined and exposed in a style which is compelling and demanding. I loved the dual narration which drew us clearly and deeply into the minds of the two main protagonists. Jen is fascinating. Her strength, determination and vulnerability are all displayed in the unfolding story of rivalry, dark deeds and growing, dangerous, intense, love. Joe Arden and CJ Bloom are outstanding. Their expressive interpretations bring the listener deep into the narrative right to the cliffhanger of a conclusion. I will be wasting no time in starting The Lady! 💖💖💖💖💖🎧🎧

A fantastic book come to life through audio I must listen to

The Don is Narrated by joe Arden and c j Bloom and boy listening to them narrator the book takes it to a hole new level. You can just lie back and get lost in there voices as they bring Luciu and jens characters to life.especially Joe Arden voice as Luciu character I could listen to his voice as a The Don all day listening to the Don on audiobook just brought the characters more to life I absolutely loved listening to the book and would highly recommend this book on audio

The Don is a must read book we first got introduced to Jen in the filthy fecker books she is BFF with Aoife Finns wife. Jen hasn’t had it easy growing up and her life was far from great and now she is a self proclaimed gold digger and she is not a shamed off it. But she has worked hard in butting herself through night school to do a job she loves. She is sassy and she knows what she wants and goes out to get it. Then on a chance meeting she meets Luciu the new Sicilian Don and the chemistry is off the wall but Jen is determined not to fall for Luciu but he is going to do anything to make Jen his Queen.

I absolutely loved this story and Jen and Luciu are just meant to be together the the chemistry is off the charts between then and the first chapter off the book is just wow wow the hot brooding Don and the self proclaimed gold digger what an explosion when they both come together.

I can’t wait for Jen’s book next the Lady I think it’s going to explosive between them and I think Jen is going to kick ass big time.

WHAT A DELICIOUS & ADDICTIVE DUET

At the start of this Duet Jen’s an unapologetic gold digger, a snarky user of men and a woman determined to do better than her whore junkie mother.. but when she looks into the eyes of Luciu she becomes something else entirely. Fire, heat and explosive steamy dark dangerous chemistry which could be cut with a knife and sizzles between her and handsome Sicilian Mafia Mob Luciu who is also instantly drawn to the beauty. In fact, this King becomes obsessed, aggressively protective and possessive with his sexy, feisty, tigress that she takes over his thoughts as he plots and plans to make his beautiful predator his Queen. And the heat when they touch is h-h-hot.. you’ve been warned!! But all is not well in his Mafia world.. Jen still has a secret.. and who is the woman claiming to be his wife? Well I promise you, the CLIFFHANGER ending will leave you desperate for more.. and yay, book 2 is here too so no dragging out of a storyline - just straight over to book 2. And that delivered everything I was hoping for and so so much more as the love between these sweet lovebirds tumbled Jen’s walls down brick by brick, it raised her self-esteem and it gave her a chance to grow.

Worth a credit? Yes I love.. love.. love this author’s addictive, descriptive and creative writing skills. You can’t give this romantic Duet anything other than five gleaming stars as Jen and Lus calm the waters between them, deal with the angst and drama that follows them around and learn to trust and love each other. And having Joe and CJ bring the dual POV story to life.. with the heated sizzles, the angsty dialogue that parried smoothly, the drama that ebbed and flowed and the delicious romance that came with well-spoken feels, was fantastic.

Perfect beginning

I absolutely loved this book when I first read it however being able to list to everything come to life was fantastic! The narrators were perfect for these characters and only added to the experience of this world. Their connection was easy to feel as the story progressed.

I tried.

I swear I did.

Typically, a book that begins in the middle of an explicit sex scene is probably gonna be good. Instead, it feels like the writer is faking us out. Trying to jolt us into liking these incipient people.

I have a thing where I’ll fall asleep to audiobooks. If still like what I hear when I wake up, I’ll go back and listen to what I missed. Don’t ask. I almost always go back. It’s a thing.

That didn’t work this time. Both main characters started off droning on about what they have, what they want, and a pretty boring and long-winded game of “mafioso connect the dots”. The lead female “feels” dirty (not in the hot way, more so in the mounds-of-all-sorts-of-bodily-substances-buildup way). I woke up to more of the same.

The writer tried infusing grandiose verbiage into the story to make it so amazing for us. It’s so over the top in parts that I laughed aloud.

Joe Arden and Bloom do a good enough job. However, CJ Bloom is way over the top in this narration for some reason. She’s not normally so soap opera-ish. And I never thought I’d say this about Joe Arden, but I think he’s miscast. He has a sort of monotone delivery, which always works for bad boy characters, but…I’m not sure. It just doesn’t work here. I think I just really have no interest in either of these characters, and so nothing these amazing authors could do will make things better.

I can’t believe I bought this crapola. Even worse, I bought the part two. More proof that not all reviewers share the same level of requirements for their purchased content. This is a DNF. Although I really did try.

Great start to a dark mafia romance!

The Don by Serena Akeroyd was a dark, mafia steamy romance that captivated my attention from start to finish. Luc and Jen's love story is full crazy twists and unexpected turns that will leave you guessing and fanning yourself (bring on the spiciness!) throughout the entire story. The is book one in The Oath duet, so I was prepared for the cliffhanger ending.

Joe Arden and CJ Bloom narrate this audio, and oh my accents, they are fantastic! Joe Arden portrays Luc's alpha, dominant, and protective personality brilliantly! Plus, I love all the sexy terms of endearments Luc's whispers into Jen's ears, which Joe delivers flawlessly! CJ Bloom conveys all of Jen's determination, sass, and fierce personality with such passion that you can't help but adore her character! These two narrators are one clicks for me!

Overall, I enjoyed this audio and story. If you love a mafia romance with a hunky Sicilian mafia Don, a brave passionate heroine, hot steamy times, family connections, lies, betrayal, murder, and a cliffhanger that will immediately have you wanting to start listening to The Lady, then you will love Luc and Jen's story.

PERFECT!!!

The Don was a thoroughly wonderful listen for me. The story, the narrators, and the delivery were all on point, even other characters were good! I almost didn't buy it, but because Joe Arden was a narrator and is always great to listen to, I took a chance since there were no reviews that suggested he only had a small part. I definitely recommend this listen and it is worth a credit!

A Don, Really?

I have read good Mafia/Familia, Italian/Sicilian stories, this one left lots to be desired. The book mainly focus on material things, how much things costs, etc. For example, Jen only speaks about the luxury she surrounds herself with, yet she`s the cheapest thing the writer could conjure up! Overall, not a very realistic story, who goes FUCKN hard with a tiara? The most realistic character in this book was Stan. I finally finished the book with the hope things will turn around, considering Joe Arden was Luciu, a main character, but no. Incidentally, I like CJ Bloon, but as Jen, she sounded so annoying that I could hardly concentrate with all her jabbering. Needless to say, I will not spend a credit on the follow up book of this series. Unfortunately, this is the first book I read by Serena Akeroyd!

Love it!

Luciu is everything you don't think you need, but you desperately want. He is a mafia boss, an amazing leader, and sexy as hell. Jen has been a favorite for a while and I am glad that her story is finally being told. I have loved this world that Serena Akeroyd created for a long time and I can't wait to get my hands on The Lady! The narrators are amazing and I loved listening to this book.
