Summary

Nobody can hear your screams from the depths of hell…

Those who survived Halálház never imagined going back. But this isn’t Halálház, this is Věrhăza, and nothing can prepare any of them for this.

With General Markos in control of the new prison, torture and cruelty is taken to a whole new level. But what Brexley is forced to do will not only change her, but the course of the future.

With her abilities starting to show themselves, Brexley risks everything to save those she loves from dying; but in doing so, she exposes her abilities to Istvan.

When she and Warwick are tortured and used as experiments, she finds that Istvan’s deceit and betrayal go far deeper than she could imagine...and Istvan will do anything to stay in control.

As Brexley’s powers grow, so does the hate and darkness inside. Her hands are marked red, her soul heavy in guilt. There has been so much death, pain, and agony.

When does someone break? How much can one person take before the hero turns into the villain?

Utter disappointment

I usually don't write negative reviews, but boy does this deserve one.
Repetitive, unintelligent and unimaginative. Brexley makes dumb decision after dumb decision causing deaths and chaos. Lazy writing, some chapters feel like a copy&paste from the previous books and the whole story is based on the following principle: Dumb decision --> Brexley kidnapped (yes..again, 10,000 times) --> Booom (distraction) --> Warwick saves the day --> sex (repetitive).
If you've read book 1-3, don't bother, you've read it all.

warning entire book in prison

This entire book other then the last few chapters are them in this oppressive god awful prison. 12+ hours of this book and the last hour the break out. Constant kicking our MCs down down and more down. Sooooooo frustrating. This Ishvan dude always getting the upper hand mental break down games and the sick guards always get the win, we have to take the L. I TRULY love this story it has SOOO much potential and I love these characters. But this is way too stretched out, drawn out crap is wrong. We sure as heck could of got the next book to fit in this one.
I suggest just waiting till all audio books are out, then consume this. It's 100% frustrating and hard to get through this. Like I said the entire book is this prison and the awful AWFUL I MEAN AWFUL treatment. And now we have to wait who knows how long to finally see our guys again.

BTW this narrator is amazing.

Not what I expected

I'll first mention that I absolutely love this series and its characters. Warwick and Brexley are always straight up fire but the rest are a perfect complement.

I found this book to be extremely frustrating! I kept waiting for the moment things finally went their way to no avail. Not only is it based in the prision for most of the book and everyone went through extreme torture, but Brexley seems very daft in this book, especially with her decision making, like she has no precious experience with war and traitors. Also, the most frustrating part was how everything went great for Istvan. He was either "too smart" or "always 10 steps ahead" and everything was literally going his way from beginning to end with no reprieve to the good guys. I'm very disappointed and I'm afraid the next book will be just as frustrating.

You have already read this book

This is the exact book with slightly different grafters. She doesn’t learn or grow, and they just keep getting caught and someone else killed. Nothing new. Read the last chapter and go onto the next book and save yourself time and boredom.

Gets better and better

This series is just getting better and better! Although I didn’t always agree with Brexleys actions and decisions and she drove me a little crazy in this one, it was action packed and so fun to read! So looking forward to the culmination in the next book!

Narration was once again fantastic!

Repeat then repeat then repeat

Skipped ahead to the end based on reviews. Made it 60% thru listening to the same oppressive story told again and again. Yes, everything is bleak but why is it just that? Where’s any sort of plot development? There’s a whole war going on so why detail out for chapters on end absolutely nothing that helps or contributes to the war or ending the war or even fighting in it. Hopefully the final book is better.

Epic Cliff Hanger!

I’m going to have major withdrawals waiting on Shadow Lands to come out. The Opium Den scene is Amaze-balls! 🥵🔥
The Narrator was fantastic! Amazing job. One of the best and made the stories so much more immersive and enjoyable!

Ending was a major cliffhanger. This book totally chews you up and spits you out! Gives you all the feels.
So many twists and turns, surprises, unbelievable betrayals. Of course Brexely continues to have emotional moments where acts before thinking and creates more problems, but half the adventure is them figuring how to get out of it. Warwick truly wins my heart ❤️ with how he comes through in so many ways!

Whoa there Nelly…. The villain is so worth my hate

This ratcheted up quickly!!! Installment 5 had almost no down time and really delivered with a ton of action. There seems to always be an explosion and though that part is repetitive I was praying for the explosions!!! No character is safe or to be trusted , I’ve given you fair warning! Again the narration is spectacular!!!Now on to book six :)

Great book - my favorite narrator!

I loved this series & have the next book pre-ordered. Eva Kaminksy narrated some books by Charlain Harris that I loved & I’ve actively sought out books she has narrated since. She really makes the stories so much better!

Once again this series has annoyed me beyond words

I am so sick of the predictable stupid shit that keeps goinf on in this series. Talking out loud about top secret shit that continues to hwlp the enemy. How have they not learned thwir lessons??? They all keep repeating the same BS crap especially her!!
And All of this power and all of the Fea etc and they continue to get their asses kicked by the bad guy humans. It's like the writer purposely made them all slow stupid and dumb to make a longer story. I mean it's so ridiculious.
And for some reason she keeps goi g along with everything the bad guys want just to keep everine alive which is purtinf the enitire world in damger and she keeps giving the bad giys everything they want and nothing ever gets better. It pisses me off ro no end!!!! She knew he would get her blood and Waricks blood and she knows how bad that would be for everyone but they didn't fight back at all to stop it and when she used the dead/spirits to kill her enemies in the arena she could have had them attack the bad man but did she hell naw!!!!!. WTF!?!?! It makes no sense. She tales oit a bunch if animals but not thw real and true threats. All because of fear? And the king of the Fea and all of the other fea were so sadly and easily taken down and inprisoned noone using all the magic and power they have. It so damn dumb. But my dumbass can't quit listening. And on top of it all the next book in the series isn't even out yet. It's only out for pre-order. All of this BS is driving me insanely NuTs. Lol I guess that's hownyou know a book is really vood huh.
And it hasn't gotten any better now that I am close to the end. They mine as well just sit down and give up being that they practically keep handing over informarton and them selves to the enemy. I mean this is ridiculous. Their come back better be freaking epic with all of this aggravating annoying BS and all of the stupid dumbass mistakes.
The writer of this series has to be a sadist. Ha!!
