About this listen
The room is dark, except for the streetlights coming through the blinds. I can barely see her, but I feel her. She pushes me up against the wall, and we kiss harder than we ever have before. I’ve been waiting so long for it to happen, and finally, it’s going to. Then the bedroom door flies open, and someone screams her name....
Britton Walsh has never had a home. After a lifetime in the care system, she doesn't expect she’ll ever find one. But beginning her senior year with new foster parents, in a new city, means starting over - yet again. Tom and Cate Cahill seem okay. The hitch? Their daughter, Avery.
Beautiful, popular, and cool, Avery is everything Britton is not. She’s all Britton could ever ask for in a sister, or even a friend - but having survived without either for so long, Britton knows the way her heart races whenever Avery enters the room can only mean one thing....
But Avery has a secret. Something that is eating away at her and stopping her from letting anyone in, least of all Britton. Will Avery’s insistence on punishing herself for a mistake in her past make Britton's last year of high school, and finding a place to call home, impossible? Can two people so different ever find common ground, friendship, or maybe even something more?
An unforgettable new adult lesbian romance for fans of Keeping You a Secret by Julie Anne Peters, Her Name in the Sky by Kelly Quindlen, or Nancy Garden’s classic young adult coming-out novel, Annie on My Mind.
New adult novel: recommended for 17+ due to mature themes and sexual content.

Great story
Such a great story and I really didn't want to stop listening. Makes a nice change for a romantic lesbian storyline to end happy. I really hope there will be a follow up

Amazing
I bought this book as it’s the 2nd book Kristen Zimmer has released (The Gravity between us, was the 1st which is in my top 3 books), so I knew I needed to listen to this book.
I was not disappointed with this book; it is a high school romance, a coming out story too.
It is funny and charming, it had me laughing one minute and then crying the next.
It was a lovely story that was well written and well narrated.
And I loved it, can’t wait for this author to do more books.

high-school
not my normal genre, but I recently have 2 teen granddaughters dealing with thier own sexuality, back in the 70s I could not have talked to anyone about my own fears, so it's with the help of modern authors the 3 of us have been able to talk openly with each other, and wider family..
this story is sad, humourus, and filled with love,
it's written beautifully, with excellent back stories, friendships, and hope.
hope that one day all parents will be like Kate and Tom, and friends accept you for who you are.
the narration is excellent too

Good listen
Good storyline and well read... Easy to listen to and the relationship between them is tame compared to some other reads

Overall a good story.
It had a slightly slow start, but things came together in a nice way. It is a story I will remember, and return to again.

its cute
i liked it as my first audible. i got to understand that the person speak reads it how i would read it. its a cute story however some lines may be cringey because im thinking are they supposed to be in the view of gen z if so its cringey as its clearly not a gen z writing trying to be Gen Z. and the baby girl thing made my skin crawl i blame 365 dni for that tbh not the author. other than that the story is sweet and i did kinda feel weird as they are foster siblings but their connection was very strong. it was very funny and points where i had to stop myself from laughing in public and i finished this withing 24 hours for my first audible. i kept wanting to go on with the story wondering what would happen next. truly addictive.
