Story
Free-spirited and easygoing Taylor Vandenberg left her hometown of Faircombe, Tennessee, as soon as she could, and in the twenty-five years since, she has rarely looked back. She wouldn't change anything about how her life has turned out—having traveled to nearly every country, never staying anywhere long enough to feel stifled. Brooke Watson has known Taylor for her entire life, and lifelong knowledge means that Brooke knows she's trouble: irresponsible, takes nothing seriously, and irritatingly attractive.

Sutton Spencer's ideas for her life were fairly simple: finish graduate school and fall in love. It would be a lot simpler if she could pinpoint exactly what she should do when she graduates in less than a year. Oh, and if she could figure out how to talk to a woman without feeling like a total mess, that would be great, too. Charlotte Thompson is very much the opposite.

Summary
Caroline Parker knows three things to be true. First, she is going to be Boston's most sought-after divorce attorney by 35. Second, given how terrible her romantic track record is, falling in love isn't in the cards for her. And third, Christmas only brings her bad luck - being broken up with not once, not twice, but three times during the holidays is proof enough of that.
When she runs into Hannah Dalton on Christmas Eve, she has no reason to believe her luck will change. After all, though Hannah is probably the most gorgeous woman she's ever seen, she's also straight. And married to Caroline's work rival.
While being hired by Hannah throws her for a loop, winning a divorce case and sticking it to her ex-colleague should be enough of a thrill. But as the months slip by, bringing her closer to both Hannah and her adorable daughter Abbie, the lines between attorney and client begin to blur. And she could have never predicted just how much she wants them to.
Contains mature themes.

I didn’t expect...
To fall in love with this book. Oh boy has it taken hold in my head, I keep listening to it on repeat. Sexy, sassy, heartwarming and hilarious. I have read/listened to a few wlw but none of them have resonated so deeply as this one.
This is my first time hearing Lori Prince’s narration and she does not disappoint, she brings each character wonderfully to life even the arsehat ex husband.
I’m now off to listen to Those Who Wait...because I can’t!

Friendship to Love
This is the first book I have read by this author and I was impressed. The story was well written and the characters had great chemistry. I liked most of the characters although Michael did annoy me; he never did deserve Hannah or Abbie. I did love the ending and I felt the way it was written was very sweet!
It was a very sweet, romantic slow burn romance which I love.
The only thing I would have liked and found hard at first until I got into the book is, the book is written from Caroline’s point of view but is written in third person. I would have liked it in first person point of view so there would have been no need to keep saying Caroline all the time.
The narration was excellent as always by Lori Prince.
I will keep an eye out for more books by this author and narrator.

One of the best in a while
This was absolutely amazing, I can't really say much else except get it and you won't regret it. Lori is one of my top 3 favourite narrators and this was just sublime. There are points I wished I knew what Hannah was thinking but when you get to the end it makes sense why it's all been through Carolines perspective and actually makes it better. I'm about to re listen because it's just that good.

A fitting title for my thoughts on the book
I think I preordered this audible half asleep after a long time of aimlessly scrolling for books to discover. I didn’t remember preordering it, and was confused when I got the notification on my phone that my preorder was ready. Looking at the cover art and reading over the description, I didn’t think I would have chosen this title. It seemed so over done and blah. I hadn’t read anything previously from the author and was honestly on the fence about the narrator after two other titles. But boredom hit and I decided to try giving it a listen. I’m glad I did.
There’s something to be said about a book that takes the mundane, the overdone cliches, the things I’m not really interested it (like the holidays, kids, and etc.), and pleasantly surprises me. To take these things and write them so well, to give depth to the characters and have a plot that has its ups and downs without being overdone is refreshing.
Yes, obviously there were some predictable moments but the way they developed - I couldn’t help but smile here and there. It felt real. And to have a supporting character that was a child and key element but not being annoying - wow.
The narrator brought just as much depth and feeing into the story as the story itself. I’m not sure if I had been reading an actual book that I would have that rhythm and read the punctuations with the right effects. The pacing was perfect. The narrator definitely won me over with this listen.
It’s a cute story, that touches upon some difficult topics without being too much or too light - just balanced. It’s heartwarming really, and I feel like a sap admitting that.
It’s not overly sexual. There’s build up and progression that isn’t rushed. It just flows naturally, which seems to increasingly rare in books these days.
I wouldn’t have thought I would like the audible this much, especially enough to finish it in a day.
The ending though...
It felt perfectly right and yet I kind of wish there was an epilogue or a second book.
Suffice it to say, I’m glad I bought this preorder half awake, forgotten about it (so I couldn’t cancel it), and then have it a try. Like I said, the book’s title is very fitting for my thoughts on the book.

Excellent and Yummy!
I loved everything about it. Perfect amount of, well, delicious sexual tension. I'm a big fan of Haley Cass's writing... 'When You Least Expect It' delivers a solid plot throughout the story, interesting and thorough character development (main and sub characters), and, again, realistic yummy tension. I'd spend money on her books blindly any day - reading reviews or even story description not necessary for me! She'll give us a great story every time.

Haley Cass and Lori Prince are a great match
This is my second go around with this story, first time on audio. I definitely think Lori Prince is a perfect fit for this story (as well as Haley Cass’ other work) and she did a great job bringing the characters to life. Loved the slow burn romance between Caroline and Hannah and enjoyed the scenes with Hannah’s daughter Abby as well. Highly recommend.

Slow
While I am not a big fan of slow burns, I usually tolerate them ok. However, this is some different level of slow.
Hanna character is infantile, and it makes her super annoying, which affects the whole story.

I'm so taken by this book. it's my first book of haley's & didn't take the time to read the comments. So i dove in with zero expectations. i do believe i had 1 moment of oh my god kiss her already but... truthfully, for me every moment of this book was the perfect slow burn. i found myself sobbing more than once from the overwhelming feelings it evoked. thank you for the story it was not only beautifully written but incredibly heart felt.
