At least the name tracks....

Nova comes from the Latin word "novus" which means new. And new is how the writer comes across. Nothing is complex, nothing is developed. everything is bland and so big you can't see the end of it. It's an empty feeling. And I've only made it to chapter 4. It's not just the writer but the narrator as well. Idk I've just never had such a hard time listening to a book before.

Update: So book one was an absurd slog. I completely gave up on really enjoying it but there's not much else to listen too and I already spend the credit so I figured what is the worst that can happen. (ten agonizing hours later "the worst that can happen"). Every single choice, every single event I called. Nothing was "eventful" because if they needed to win they did. If they needed to find something they did. No suspense, no failed attempts. There's an assassin that shows up, of course it's the right one. There's a group of aliens that have a library. They say they don't keep track of humans but of course they know where that assassin came from. And Book two is ripped right off of FTL video game and one of the worst fights ever...at this point it's a tragic humor.

So very disappointing

Poorly written and generally UN-imaginative (predictable plot, flat characters, dull dialog, repetitive language, character head-hopping, and very weak science / technical thinking). Also, poorly narrated (bad pronunciation, choppy flow with confusing half-beat pauses, and character voices with little differentiation or hackneyed accents).

I was already sour on this story after only a few hours into the first of the trilogy, but since I has bought all three as a set I decided to see if things got better in the second book. They did not. By the beginning of the third, I kept going purely in "completionist" mode.

The only saving grace of the whole experience is that I only spent a single credit for the lot. (AND, I now have an author and narrator to add to my black list.)

Good, could have used some editing.

Really enjoyed the story but the audible version could have used some editing for redundancies. The Narrator really didn't need to read the entire character sheet EVERY time the main character reviewed it.
