Summary

Mankind has been under attack for 50 years by the awesome power of bosses and monsters who are the denizens of dungeons.

Monsters started these attacks when a mystical beast named Raekast appeared and threatened the world, eradicating human life from several continents. Raekast threatened all human life until a mysterious ceremony called "Rebirth" unlocked the hidden potential of humans strong enough to repel and defeat her. Raekast’s final, desperate act caused dungeons to spawn across the globe. The greatest of these dungeons is known as Titan. Dungeons are a threat to humanity and nature alike. Powerful reborn humans known as "Slayers" enter their dangerous depths to kill the monsters and bosses that live within and retrieve treasure, items and more.

Tad Harrington, a video-game-loving 16-year-old high school student, was bullied relentlessly throughout his life. Tad’s Rebirth date has come. His last hope is to be reborn a slayer strong enough to enter the toughest dungeons where a life of power and luxury could await him.

When things don’t go according to plan, Tad finds out he has a special Rebirth, one that can level up and grow stronger by defeating monsters. Starting from level one, how high can Tad climb? Can he overcome the challenges and become the ultimate dungeon slayer?

Too many stat repeats

The book was overall good, it did, however, repeat the main character’s stats more than needed.

MC is likeable and his learning curve for combat is realistoc. Well worth the credit, please hurry and get the next two recorded and available!!

Really good

I don't usually like fantasy books set in the modern day but this book series is fantastic.

A good LitRPG

This book starts out pretty frustrating to be honest, but the character and plot development is well written, and the story is compelling.

A great casual listen

A brilliant concept perfectly executed.

Having played RPG's on paper and PC for most of my life this book was great fun for me. Brought into the really world in a clever way! There was nothing about this book I did not enjoy.

What a bad MC

This is not a well writen book. if you remove the stats line repetition you remove 1/5th of the book. then add a odd char descriptions that for all i can tell are to add word count.

And please stop saying "Blond Girl"

The MC is one of the most unlikable and over powered i have yet read, the attempt at selfreflection is just insulting.

Con makes you fat ?!?!? Dex gives you eyesight ?!?! there is so much that just makes no sence. you need logic in the narrative and there is none here.

Almost offensively badly written

It’s a shame, I feel like this story has so much potential but the writing is just atrocious! It’s like the author doesn’t even know what words mean, supersonic is used any time what he actually means is high-pitched, when he says exponential he actually just means a lot, when he says a blue turned out to actually be deadly he means that it’s completely missed and left a dent in the wall.
Every fight scene follows the same pattern: he sees a threat, The threat is really dangerous, the threat moves towards him at an impossible speed, he thinks about all the things he doesn’t have which could’ve helped him deal with the threat, he wishes he was stronger and reflects on how useless he is, then something unexpected happens, then maybe two or three minutes after the incident of jeopardy started we actually get to see the result. It’s like the author is trying to synthetically generate tension.
On the subject of how useless the character is, it is almost offensive how annoying the rubbish he is at the start, it’s like he looked at a 12 year olds understanding of what a nerd from the 1980s might be bullied for and brought in every single one of those insecurities turned up to 12.
I am really disappointed, I finished this book and I genuinely think the premise and the world both have some serious potential, but I spent the entire time reading this book furious with just how terrible the characterisation and the scene setting was.

And don’t get me started on his depiction of charisma! My recommendation, do not read this book, find literally any other series to read.

Unlikable MC, stolen story, poor writing

The main character is an obnoxious drip who it is impossible to sympathy for. Where most progression/litrpg fantasy try to have underdog mc’s you can relate to and wish to see succeed, throughout the story I was continually rooting on the monsters to kill him and put both of us out of our misery.

The story itself is essentially plagiarised from Solo Levelling by Chugong. While a few pieces of set dressing differ, this story is dangerously dancing above the fine line between fan fiction and copyright infringement.

The writing quality is poor. The dialogue is almost non existent and pretty much entirely awful. The world does not have a consistent interior logic that stands up to simple introspective interrogation.

Ultimately this book is a fail made only vaguely pleasurable due to its passing resemblance and poor imitation of better works in the sub genre.

Doesn't quite hit the mark

it's got a lot of potential, that is unfortunately squandered. If the MC had been just a little less whatever he is, a little more intelligent, and the story a bit...more, this book could honestly have been outstanding. Maybe those flaws are fixed in the next book but as it stands, there a better progression fantasy books available. it's a passing grade, but not quite a distinction.
