Summary
Born in fire. Destined to triumph.
Raised by a fallen paladin of an oppressive church, Targon is sentenced to compete in the multiverse's most deadly competition: The Guardian Games. To become an Ember Mage, he will need the strength and discipline to tame the fire in his soul, while slaying monster-filled dungeons. Of course, this is assuming he can attain enough cookies to keep his quirky, pixie guide satisfied.

Book to avoid
This book tries too much. Unfortunately fails in a lot with no head to tail on the story, disappointing from chat area manager was a good series too. This one is to be avoided unfortunately

Good…..
I came for Todd Menesses and the cover art and the story called Ember Mage. I found the story compelling in the beginning and found myself not caring about the side characters. I think if the book had more build up I would have been more into the side MCs. The book was to short and the story of the Ember mage was cool and narration was awesome.

good
like many others I did enjoy this story quiet well but some of the side characters lacked the fluidity others did that kept you interested in them the entire time
I did enjoy everything else quiet a bit I will say and loved the performance! Will recommend :)
this review is an honest review in regards to receiving a code :)

A bit lascivious and a bit dark but ...
the worst buzz-kill was the tidal wave of stat dumps that eventually washed away any interest in finishing the book. I made it two thirds into it mostly on the narration fine performance from Todd Menesses.

looking Forward to the next book
Huge fan of the MC book draws you in and without any spoilers ton of character development goes on with several characters. if you don't like a book that jumps around between characters don't fear to much, This book does jump between characters but it is ether a short chapter just to keep u up to date . I do recommend this book if you are looking for a a book to scratch your litrpg itch.

My first Opo book, I'll be looking for more...
The prolog makes you think you're reading Hellboy, but that is the only thing they really have in common.
This has been an awesome book and I am so looking forward more of this series.

outstanding
a great story with multiple points of view gives you a compassionate link with all of the characters you come across. as with different characters you get different magics to explore as they level up and interact. the guides they get is a new and exciting twist as each has their own personality. a fun listen overall.

Authors best work yet
I was pretty high on Chads work after the manager series. But he is getting better. He does a great job creating a world I want to experience if only as a game. The main characters could very well be protagonists in their own series. Don’t miss this promising new series

I didn't finish
there is a character that is here as a trope, she is annoying to an extreme, however I did not finish so maybe she gets better but I doubt it.
