Summary
I'm Sam Quinn, the werewolf book nerd owner of the Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore and Bar. Things have been busy lately. While the near-constant attempts on my life have ceased, I now have a vampire gentleman caller. I've been living with Clive and the rest of his vampires for a few weeks while the Slaughtered Lamb is being rebuilt. It's going about as well as you'd expect.
My mother was a wicche and long dormant abilities are starting to make themselves known. If I'd had a choice, necromancy wouldn't have been my top pick, but it's coming in handy. A ghost warns me someone is coming to kill Clive. When I rush back to the nocturne, I find vamps from New Orleans readying an attack. One of the benefits of vampires looking down on werewolves is no one expects much of me. They don't expect it right up until I take their heads.
Now, Clive and I are setting out for New Orleans to take the fight back to the source. Vampires are masters of the long game. Revenge plots are often decades, if not centuries, in the making. We came expecting one enemy, but quickly learn we have darker forces scheming against us. Good thing I'm the secret weapon they never see coming.

Story gets even better, narration still meh
Sam's story really builds in this book and it has great intrigue and adventure. I'm now hooked. I've got used to the narration, it's still not great, but I can tolerate it. The accent work continues to be rather shockingly bad, but at least I can understand her most of the time.

The Narrator Saves the Author From the Tropes
See my review of the first book. I gave the second one a chance hoping that they author would move away from the tropes and clichés and write something original...nope.

Excellent listen!
It's been a while since a book/Audible has really gotten my attention completely; with an amazing and unique storyline plus excellent Narrative. I'm so happy to say this one was amazing! Thank you so much for writing such a entertaining Novel and thank you for pairing it up with an excellent Narrator!

Sam Quinn Continues
This was a good second book in the Sam Quinn series. All of the original characters are there plus a few more added. The bad guys are truly evil and the good guys deal in shades of gray. Sam still has some of her ‘stuff’ to deal with but she’s growing. Her scars are becoming less noticeable. There were a few times that I felt that some of the scenes were just filler but some of those became a little more significant later on. Ms. Desz did a good job of narration.

Simply great
the first story was very good but this one was even better. So many layers have been added, the intricacy of the story keeping me on it, and unwilling to put it down until I had it all through.
The rich narration simply fabulous... can't wait for the 3rd installment to be available on audible... I could buy the book but I would miss all the voices, I wouldn't have all the people talking to me.
Narration is such an inclusive experience when it is that good 👍
