Summary

I died for Hostess cupcakes.

I know. Tragic, right? Even worse, after I came back, I still didn't get any cupcakes.

What I did get, however, is a six-foot-something reaper with eyes like blue fire to guide me into the world of the supernatural. Which, as it turned out, wasn't quite like the fairy tales little girls are told growing up.

Not only is magic real, more importantly, so are monsters. And apparently, I'm one of them.

But I'm getting ahead of myself here. You see, four years ago, I left my hometown and swore to never come back.

Now, my brother is dead, and I have no choice but to go searching for answers. Except finding them isn't easy when the secret society he belonged to is covering it up. I have to find out who killed him while watching my own back, because if I'm not careful, I might be next - and this time, there's no do-over. Luckily for me, Mr. Single and Hot as F--k is determined to help me keep my ass alive.

I'm a lucky, lucky girl. Some days.

Contains mature themes.

Fab start

Enjoyed listening to this and loved the storyline and characters . Hollie Jackson’s narration was perfect , she is one of my favourite female narrators .

It didn’t go anywhere

It finished mid story after a load of bickering and one kiss out nowhere. The way the lead female talks is very immature and unlikeable

Not the full story

Yet another book which doesn’t feel like the whole story - a big pet peeve of mine. However, the second book does conclude (with room for another instalment) so if you don’t mind one for the price of two with your novels, it’s a fun read. Narration is decent, story is intriguing- though this book has a weird forced climax that doesn’t really feel earned or dramatic enough, it also ends on a cliff hanger.

Really funny and mysterious too

I really enjoyed this one. Fmc is too funny and her antics kept me utterly entertained. She dies comes back to life and finds out about supernatural beings and that she is one.
That is when the fun and mystery solving begin. The romance itself is lukewarm at best and there is no spice. But the story is short and hilarious too.
Great narration.

Fabulously Dry & Sarcastic

Excellent writing, very dry & Sarcastic - this type of humour is not for everyone. It can come across as the POV being bratty and immature.

Has had me laughing from the get go, the back story is a little lacking, but it’s not that hard to understand what happened as it fills in the gaps the more you listen/read to, the bit about the brother vein a sheep… omg “baaaad Salam” hahaha!

The best bit… it does have a story!

Instead most books in this genre are sadly just basic prawn with little to no story, their content focuses on acting like nymphos! Therefore; finding an author who writes with a story in mind… now that is winner winner chicken dinner!

Thankies!

The narration/acting is brilliant! Not many could pull off the accents and the differences between characters! Well done!

Might be the narration

I am at the end of chapter 3 and stopped listening. I am ok with some snark as I am aware a lot of women seem to believe that being rude, swear a lot and being unreasonable makes them, I don't know, clever? I want to strangle the FL, she does not let up. All she thinks, all she says is just nasty. Humanity is doomed, people can talk but NOT communicate.
