Summary

This special box set edition of The Borrowed World Series contains the full text of books 1-3 of the best-selling series: The Borrowed World, Ashes Of The Unspeakable, and Legion Of Despair. This series has garnered tens of thousands of 4 and 5 star reviews.

If society fell apart, could your family survive? Jim Powell thought he was ready. He was a regular guy who travelled a lot for work and hated every second he was away from his young family. But when ISIS operatives unleashed a coordinated attack on America’s infrastructure, his entire world shattered. The electrical grid collapsed, communication networks were damaged, critical bridges and dams were destroyed, and major fuel refineries have gone up in massive fiery clouds.

Now, with an Executive Order halting fuel sales to the public, Jim Powell finds himself in a terrifying predicament. He's trapped hundreds of miles away from his family, and with thousands of stranded travelers and scarce law enforcement across the country, the miles between Jim and his family become a brutal gauntlet where the rules of a civilized society no longer apply.

Jim is a prepper with years of planning under his belt, but as he puts his preparations to the test, he soon finds that training for a societal collapse is very different from actually experiencing one. If Jim wants to make it back to his family in one piece, he'll need to find the strength and brutality to meet this new, dangerous world head-on—even if it means rising to unimaginable levels of violence.

Downloaded over 100,000 times, The Borrowed World is a series that you'll find yourself listening to more than once.

Dire

Macho stereotypes one pace forward. Misogynistic tosh. Waste of a credit. Can you tell I’m not a fan. Do not buy this title

the negative reviews clinched it for me.

Reading why the single-star reviews didn't like this series convinced me that I would enjoy this story.

Kevin Pierce is a favorite of mine and I loved the story

Almost anything apocalyptic that Kevin Pierce narrates is going to be a favorite for me. I love the genre. I liked most of the characters and the story. I appreciated the minimal use of profanity in this series. I would like more of the prep talk and less if the violence and killing, but overall it was a good listen.

just an overall weak main character

the mc in this novel "Jim" is just not cutting it. I typically enjoy reading books where the main character is exceptional at something or is obviously becoming exceptional as with a coming of age novel. but this guy's actions just make him stupid. for example instead of chasing down the bad guy he just lets him go then that same guy comes back and kills 2 of the group. then another time, 5 days into the apocalypse and he personally has killed like 4-5 people and had numerous run ins with bad guys he and his group one night thought it would be a great idea to get drunk and have a freckin bonfire ON TOP OF A MOUNTAIN. that's where I stopped. sorry but the mc is just a weak stupid moron and not interesting

Kevin Pierce brilliant

Narration is amazing as always with Kevin Pierce. Story is entertaining, but the main guy is so annoying. He has his wife fooled into thinking he’s almost as great as he believes himself to be. He’s an arrogant joke.

A Great Listen

I have purchased the next three Audible books in this series because these first three are so good. The characters are all believable and the children are not whiners (like in other post apocalyptic books). And Kevin Pierce is an accomplished reader. He makes it so compelling. In fact I'm wondering how much of the feelings -- not actions -- but feelings are the authors re: growing up etc.
The language is always a bit much, but if you can get past that you'll enjoy the read/listen.
