About this listen

A new challenge is thrown down. The world’s secret is revealed. All probabilities were wrong.

Nacho had zero intentions to make friends. He certainly had no plans to be put in the unenviable position of being the leader of a guild. But if there’s one thing that he excels at, it certainly isn’t cooking. No, he’s far better at rolling with the punches and making sure the people around him survive. When literal monsters are everywhere, that’s the kind of person you want in charge.

But this world isn’t what he’s been expecting. Things are different. He is different. By succeeding so much, so fast, humanity has unlocked the next stage of the Juxtaposition, years before they’re ready for it. A legendary weapon is up for grabs, and the first guild to grab it will solidify their stranglehold of Kansas City. All Nacho needs to do is find a path to something he’s never heard of before, look for something that shouldn’t exist, and keep his people alive.

Time to hold on tight and chase that dragon.

The ascents were good.

I liked how they compare both the past and future versions of the storyline. but when it is nesosery he can still use those skills.

Need an assassin turned chef? I Noah guy

Sewer Skewers by Dakota Krout. I liked this book a lot having just come off the back of 🎧 listening to #SystemWarrior. Both writers created characters that wielded massive ⚒️ Warhammers - a new weapon favourite for me in the LitRPG genre.Follow

The character Brielle from #SystemWarrior also reminded me of Brie from Sewer Skewers, both bad-arse fighters that hang around with 👨‍🏭👨‍🌾 men. But Sewer Skewers - a sequel - is different, following a much more unconventional #LitRPG trend as the MC is a 👨‍🍳 chef class.

This set-up creates a comedic backdrop for the reader as our MC Nacho struggles to level-up in this cooking system, instead itching to fight - Brie's husband makes sure he is never short on cheesy puns. The writing is pretty damn good, I'm heavily invested in the series.

The narrator MacLeod Andrews was pretty chipper too giving the book a lively vibe, especially when it came to the inevitable conflicts. Would recommend this work to a friend or colleague. 📚5/5⭐️#bookreview

want to like it

when mechanics are established and rules are laid down it feels wrong when it only applies to one side or are waved away
there is a lot of plot holes/inconceivable happenings that is not explained the only explanation I can think of is god/patreon and it gives a strong vibe of deus ex machina Deus ex machina is fine but not to the extent that's in this book,
I will not continue this series
