Summary

In seaside Blueberry Cove, Maine, friends are just another word for family, and big-city politics take a backseat to local pride. But the real treasure on these shores is always love....

When DC lawyer Hannah McCrae heads home for her brother's wedding, she's dragging a lot of baggage along with her - and she doesn't mean suitcases. Betrayed personally and humiliated professionally, the last thing she wants is a new man. That's fine with square-jawed, rugged contractor Calder Blue. He and Hannah may be wildly attracted to one another, but all he wants is to build the town's hotly contested new yacht club and mend a centuries-old family feud. Yet thanks to resentments old and new, day after day the pair wind up tangled in each other's business - and maybe soon in each other's arms. Every bride needs something "blue"....

Atypical Greatness

The story is gripping and easy to follow, for a romance this is an amazing change of pace as it allowed for more character growth and moments. Ronconi's performance gave life to the story easily distinguishing voices of characters though sometimes inner monologue was harder to tell apart from speech.

Definitely worth the read.

A welcome addition to Explore Plus, unabashed escapist romance

Feel-good romantic love stories with perhaps more intimate detailing of sexual frisson and ‘action’ in this department than a few reviewers were comfortable with, and/or deemed unnecessary, have been a new discovery in the Explore Plus Catalogue.

Though less, but not totally unfamiliar, with authors who turn up the dials of the heat between two people coming together in full-throttle lust, I’ve rather amused myself with my enjoyment of these stories that don’t hold back on this score because they’re saved from being smutty or tawdry due to the real heart and emotional connection that builds between entirely likeable, nicely drawn characters.

I may not have actively chosen to use a credit - I need longer listens than many in this category due to being wholly reliant on audio content for entertainment - but this and other similarly veined titles in this oeuvre are decently enough plotted with rounded enough characters to keep me captive and happily listening.

Predictable, in that you know you’ll get a happy conclusion, sometimes real life can be so tough one needs such comfort fare and this listen ticked the boxes perfectly well for a title in the Explore Plus Catalogue that is a very welcome addition for Audible members.

The mystery element may have been a little anti-climactic but, not being billed as thriller material, the entire story ticked along to give genuine enjoyment.

Light reading

There wasn't anything remarkable about this story, but it was enjoyable enough. The characters had a bit of depth and the plot moved along at a decent pace. At times it wasn't very believable (I seriously doubt such a small town would have such an extensive infrastructure and I highly doubt being mayor of a town of 300 would be a stepping stone for an aspiring politician- but I suppose that's why it is called fiction). So all in all, this book makes for a nice holiday read or a bit of light fun. The narration was fine.
