Summary
One minute Lou is happily employed, with a perfect flat. The next, her home and job have gone. Suddenly she has to start over.
The last thing Lou wants is to move to a tiny Cotswolds village. She certainly doesn't intend to work for curmudgeonly eighty-year-old Edgar Allsopp. But Edgar is about to make her the kind of promise nobody could ignore. In return, she secretly vows to help him fall in love with life again.
Foxwell is also home to Remy, whose charm and charisma are proving hard to ignore. But Lou hasn't recovered from the last time she fell for a charmer. She needs a distraction - and luckily one's about to turn up.
Secrets never stay hidden for long in Foxwell, nor are promises always kept. And no one could guess what lies ahead...

Awful
I got to chapter 10 and gave up, the narration ruined it for me, monotone and just not believable. I'd have returned it but it was purchase and not a credit. So 7.99 wasted

I absolutely LOVED it…!
The characters were so well rounded and the story was brilliantly predictable whist also keeping you uncertain of HOW it would all resolve and I just felt the world Jill created was one I was so, so happy to lose myself in…
Not sure about the other reviews saying the performance was monotone - I didn’t think that at all. I liked the characterisations she gave without being a caricature - however there were some swallows and annoy salvia things that the edit should address.

Loved this book
Loved this book, I’ve read several Jill Mansell books now and am looking forward to reading more made me laugh, made me sad and was definitely a feel good story. I loved the characters especially Edgar his antics were so amusing and I found his back story heartbreaking.

The best book yet
What a lovely story which towards the end I wanted to hear more and more. Some parts were predictable, where as one twist and turn was not. The narrator unfortunately was not good, and it was hard to decide who was supposed to be speaking at the time as her attempt at character accents was very poor. However, this book is amazing and I will no doubt be listening to it again.

I’m never disappointed
I’ve enjoyed every book of hers I’ve read this one included. Read well, good story line, even the horrible characters managed to get my sympathy a little!
