Summary

From the author of the number-one best-sellers The Women Who Ran Away and The Missing Wife.

Delphine is at a wedding when the shocking news comes. Suddenly her life changes for ever.

Delphine has worked hard for her success, and she knows she's got everything she wants. But not everyone agrees. Her opinionated family aren't convinced that living alone with no plans to 'settle down' could possibly make her truly happy, and no one appreciates it when she drops everything, day or night, whenever her boss Conrad calls. Yet Delphine wouldn't change a thing. And when Conrad makes her a surprise offer, it's clear that her hard work is going to pay off.

A few short days later, Delphine's life is unrecognisable. The man who once broke her heart has suddenly reappeared, and a shocking tragedy turns her world on its head.

Delphine must rethink everything that matters to her, and to those around her, and decide, once and for all, if love, family and a little compromise should come before career, security and independence...and if she's prepared to make that choice.

Mmmm

This is my least favourite of Sheila’s books. I wait for them each year and haven’t missed one. I didn’t love the ending, the characters were annoying at times, maybe not developed enough. There were loads of characters and I’m not sure why. It wasn’t like it was Sheila O’ Flanagan’s writing. Things also weren’t helped by the person reading, she was very bland when she was reading.

Another great book

I really enjoy Sheila ‘ s books. I read/ listened to all of the so far and Aoife does a great job.
This book was a bit more predictable than the rest, and I was quite surprised by that, however, is still a great book.

Disappointing

very predictable from early on. Didn't particularly like most of the characters. Usually love her books

Up to Sheila O’ Flanagan’s usual standard

I was looking forward to this new release, having enjoyed all of this author’s work, and it didn’t disappoint. At the start I thought it was going to be a little bit too ‘girlie’ for my taste, but it developed into an interesting story, involving business and personal relationships. I thought the ending was really clever in the way it drew all the threads together and at the same time giving a glimpse into future possibilities.

Great book and narration

Loved this book from start to finish. This journey represents career woman’s journey finding her way through life’s ups and downs, which is more realistic than readers may think. Recommend this story, and did not want it to end. Enjoy !

The male voices were very off-putting otherwise a good listen to while away a trip to Dublin
