Summary

One word.

Stay.

It was all he had to do. Instead, he got on that bus and took my heart with him.

That was 17 years ago.

I moved on. Marriage. Kids. White picket fence. Everything I ever wanted, but my husband betrayed me and I was left once again.

Alone, penniless, and with two boys, I had no choice but to return to Tennessee. He wasn't supposed to be there. I should've been safe. However, fate has a way of stepping in.

This time around, the tables are turned. It's my decision. Second chances do exist, but I don't know if we can repair what's already been broken...

Perfect

I absolutely loved this second chance romance. I loved the story (heart breaking in places I must say), I loved the writing, and I loved the characters. The story follows Presley as she navigates becoming a widower in her mid 30s. It follows the struggles of her, her two sons, her 'sister' and her family and friends back home whom she hasn't seen for 18 years. As Presley try's to come to terms with her husband's death she has no choice but to return to her family home and, after 17 years, she has no choice but to face her first love, Zach. Zach who it would seem will always be in her heart. She has to deal with two 11 year old boys who are struggling with the death of their father and are also adjusting to life in a small town. Presley is struggling to keep all the secrets she has kept hidden from so many people from coming out. It's hard keeping secrets in a small town though, the question is can everybody survive the fallout when said secrets refuse to remain hidden? While the book has some emotional scenes, it is also funny, sexy and highly addictive. Zach is pretty perfect, along with his two highly entertaining brothers. Thoroughly enjoyed. Narration was perfect.

A lovely story

Truly lovely! The entire storyline from start to finish had me just ‘glued’ to it! Of course, the narrators were 80% of why I bought this book. But so refreshing though sad at first. So sweet when other people pick up your problems and turn them into their own. I will listen to it again. Truly wonderful.

Another great one from corinne Michaels

I cried the entire first chapter, great story line. really loved this book but then again I love the other three I've read already. and the narrators are two of my favourites.

Wanted to like it but

Read and listened to book. My first book by this author. Want to read the next about Wyatt so I think my dislike is more about this story than author.
Narration was excellent but beware only 5 or 6 chapters are Sebastian York so don't listen expecting to hear his voice.

Loved the beginning, wow what a start. But then both characters were kinda mean and selfish. Too much rehashing over and over. They were both in the wrong. Get over it it's been 17 years geeze.

So now why I can't get on board with liking this book....kinda spoilery below

The way Felicia was treated was disgusting. She was dumped out of the blue after a 5 year relationship. Really!!!! I felt more sorry for her than damn Presley as she made her choice to end the relationship.
I also felt sorry for Todd, I get he made a horrible decision but by the end I'm questioning if he was ever loved or just a long rebound guy.

An Enjoyable Read

This was the first novel from Corinne Michaels that I have listened to. A good read but a little too slow for me. Too much of the story, I felt, was the main character reminiscing in both a negative and positive way.
I'm a big fan of the Narrators - Andi Arndt and Sebastian York.

Fabulous

I'm running out of adjectives to describe Corinne's books so I will just say fabulous - again! Can't wait to read about the next Hennington brother! Not sure what I will do when I have read all the back catalogue - start at the beginning again perhaps!!

A rating overall...

My Review:
Overall: 4.5
Performance: 4.5
Story: 4.5

This story broke my heart for one reason...Presley. From the moment the story begins, you can't help but feel for this heroine who's life has spun completely out of her control. And as the story unveils, you realize this has always been an issue in her life. She's NEVER been the one in control. That was true with her teenage romance with Zach and it was sure the truth about how things ended with her husband. She's simply trying to survive with her heart partially intact...for her twin sons. Honestly, if it weren't for the boys, I don't think she would have even tried to regain her life. Yeah, my heart broke for her and the story is written brilliantly so that as the reader you can really empathize with what she's going through.

The other side of that is Zach. He and Presley were totally in love through high school and the beginning of college. But Zach's other love was baseball. That was his ultimate goal...a pro baseball career, so when he got the opportunity, he jumped at it, expecting Presley to follow. She didn't. He's never forgiven her for that. She's never forgiven her for choosing baseball over her. And she's never been back home because it hurt too much. Every single place at home reminds her of what she lost with Zach. What she doesn't realize when she comes home this time is that Zach has returned too. So not only will she be facing the memories, but she will also have to learn how to coexist with Zach in the same space.

There's so much emotion in this book. It was a great read/listen. The narrators also do a phenomenal job. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, even more so than I expected to. Although I shouldn't have underestimated the book because it's been in the top 100 for months now. I'm also excited to read the stories for the other Hennington brothers. I'm just hoping that as soon as they release, they are also available in audio, because this was a great listen and I'd love to have the same experience for the other two books in the series.

Making my ears bleed.

I just couldn't finish it. While I get Presley's pain, she is just too self absorbed in it. The world has done her wrong and she is bitter and 9 1/2 hours of being in her head rehashing it wore me out. It's all about what she has lost. Of course, I'm sensitive to it all having been through a bit of this myself but it all was just too repetitive. Definitely not enough Sebastian York! Getting a refund.

Had my full attention.

It caught me from the beginning. Narrators were great. it had drama mixed with sarcasm and a little banter. Loved it.

Excruciating. Not worth your time.

Presley is self-centered, lacking empathy for others.
Presley's character lacks, well, character.
Excruciating to listen to the constant selfish drama playing out in her head.
Difficult to be sympathetic to everything she has to "endure".

Worth it

I had read the book for Corinne Michaels' Say You'll Stay, but I received a copy of the audible as a gift. Andi Arndt and Sebastian York do a wonderful job on the narration. Even though I knew the story, their presentation still brought me to tears and laughter. Do yourself a favor and listen to this story. You won't regret it.

Had a chance in the beginning

I decided to buy this book based on the online reviews, that were mostly positive. I realize not everyone has the same taste, and know not every novel or story is going to resonate with the readers. With that said, the beginning of this book seemed to have the hope of this unraveling to be an unpredictable, but captivating story. Unfortunately, as the story unfolded, it became progressively painful to continue reading it. Between the cringe worthy cliches and predictability of the plot, it left nothing to be desired or that typical anticipation of getting in to the next chapter. I have no problem with salty language, but it was misplaced, and the love scenes towards the end of the book were completely out of place and cheapened the value of the plot and the book as a whole. It became something like what you would read in one of those passion books you can find in a dark book shop. I may be biased because I'm from the South, but the narrator's attempt at a Southern accent or emotional expressions was forced and in general made me want to turn the volume down. If you are looking for a light read, this is definitely it, but don't set your expectations high.

Audiobook is just as wonderful as reading the book!

I couldn't wait to listen to the audiobook of Say You'll Stay. I'm happy to say, it did not disappoint! This book was wonderful to read, but hearing it was a treat! I fell in love with Zach & Presley all over again!
