Summary
First rule of being a nanny? Don’t fall for the single dad, even if he is smoking hot.
But that’s exactly what happens when grumpy small-town sheriff Asher Whitlock reluctantly hires me to take care of his daughter for the summer. Neither of us is thrilled with the arrangement, but he’s desperate for help, and I need the money for grad school this fall.
All we need to do is keep our distance and remain professional. Turns out, that’s easier said than done.
Instead of focusing on my future, all I see is the strong jawline, crystal-blue eyes, and rock-hard body right in front of me. We try to resist each other, but we end up crossing every line until I’m in his bed.
I tell myself it’s just this once.
Okay, twice.
All right, every night.
But it’s got to end–he’s 14 years older than me, with a kid and a stressful job. Have I mentioned my dad is his boss? Then, there’s the past I’m trying to forget. Secrets aren’t easy to keep, and mine are getting too big to hide.
Walking away is never simple, but when I do, I can’t look back.
Even if it means leaving behind the man I was never meant to love.

Phoebe & Asher's Story ❤
I love this audiobook so much! Listened to it when it released, but somehow forgot to leave a review. I have just listened to it all again, and it is just as wonderful as the first time, even though I know what's going to happen.
I'm sure it will be a book I return to a few more times, and I'm very excited for the rest of this series!
I also love how Corinne has woven in characters from previous book series too. Always a lovely touch when authors do that.
Brilliant narration from both narrators, who really brought the characters to life. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Heartwarming Age-Gap Grumpy-Sunshine Romance!
This is the first book in the Whitlock Family Series, a small town family series. Asher and Phoebe's story is beautifully written, engaging, and heartwarming. They are opposites attract. Asher, a grumpy single dad, and the small town sheriff, is older, very handsome, and protective. Phoebe is beautiful, sweet, sunshine, caring, and smart. Her Dad is Asher's boss. Asher's daughter Olivia/Liv is adorable! I liked the banter, and the humor in the story. This is an excellent age-gap and forbidden romance. Zachary Webber and Desiree Ketchum did an outstanding job bringing this story to life. They are perfect as Asher and Phoebe. The audio quality is perfect. I highly recommend it. Looking forward to listening to more in the series.

My heart has burst ♥️
Let’s start off by saying I could listen to this all the time and never get tired of it! The emotions were absolute perfection and made me enjoy the story all the more because I could actually feel it all in my soul.
Asher’s fury had me nearly sobbing and his inner dialogue when trying to not admit he wanted Phoebe had me smiling so much my cheeks hurt; add in Phoebe’s banter that had me laughing, but then her heartache that had me an emotional mess - so trust me when I say this book was amazingly performed with all the emotion.
So if it’s your first time reading this book or you’ve read it already but want to check out the audio, I would 100% recommend because it was faultless for me ♥️

A single dad, grumpy-sunshine small-town romance
Forbidden Hearts by Corinne Michaels is a single dad romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Zachary Webber and Desiree Ketchum. This is the first book in the Whitlock Family series.
This is the first book of Corinne's that I have read, and it definitely won't be my last. She did a great job pulling me in from the first chapter. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Asher and Phoebe.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Broken Dreams to be released on December 1, 2023, so I can get Grady and Addison's story.
Zachary and Desiree did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would highly recommend this book if you like single dad romances, age gap romances, nanny romances, grumpy-sunshine romances, small town romances, or contemporary romances. Honestly if you are a romance reader then you should pick up this book!

Really enjoyed it
I really loved the characters - it was a good story with a few twists and turns but not crazy drama. Ash is the loveliest book boyfriend and Phoebe is a sweetheart.

so good
Yes yes yes! I'm loving single dad/nanny romances atm and this one was wonderful!
Asher and Phoebe had such good chemistry and I loved the enemies to lovers vibe at the start. Phoebe was a great character. She was strong and driven and stood up for herself and the ones she loves. I really liked how much she cared for and connected with Ashers daughter. They had such a great bond. Loved the whole storyline and how it all came together at the end. I had to pick up jaw up off the floor at one point I just didnt see it coming. I cant wait for more from this series.
I listened to the audio and omg it was brilliant. Such great casting for the characters. I couldnt stop listening, it kept me up till the early hours of the morning I was unwilling to put it down. My fav Corinne book so far.

Great story and perfect narration !
I just finished this audiobook and I highly recommend. The narration was just perfect. Forbidden Hearts is the perfect small town, nanny, grumpy/sunshine, forbidden romance that I loved. Everyone knows everyone and everything in this little town. I loved this read so very much, I laughed, I cried, I raged and I swooned. Asher is on another level book boyfriend. He could not be any more perfect. I adored Phoebe as she found herself and grew from her mistakes. This story took a surprise turn but it all turned out just beautifully.

Such a heartwarming story!
What a heartwarming and touching story! I enjoyed every second of listening to this audiobook. It put me in the best of moods and kept me smiling throughout. Phoebe and Asher may have started as enemies to lovers, and honestly, it's hilarious how that started. But it ended with me totally in love with Asher. He is end goals and how every single man should strive to be. If you are looking for a fun, enjoyable, light-hearted listen, you have just found your next listen! As always, Zachary Webber and Desiree Ketchum stole the show and made me fall in love with these characters. I am so excited to see the rest of the Whitlock family fall in love! Amazing start to this family series!

DEAR CORINNE, I LOVED THIS FORBIDDEN to FOREVER 💖
I loved the characters you created, the forbidden desires, the chemistry, the steps forward and back and the delicate pace you expertly moved the romance and relationship forward. I felt the emotional damage twenty-four yr old Phoebe experienced and carried with her while she tries to sort her life out and roll with her life’s sucker-punches. I loved loved loved your thirty-nine yr old hero Asher.. the protective caring father.. the dedicated Cop.. the torn man so attracted to his nine yr old daughter’s nanny.. the bossy dirty talking lover who knows she’s going to absolutely wreck him. And sure enough, FML was said more than once!!
Worth a credit? Absolutely. An age-gap forbidden that journeys through conflicts, chemistry, expiration dates, tug of hearts to happy celebrations. The ebb and flow was perfect.. the characters were perfect.. the troubles, turmoil and trials were perfect.. the sexy and sinful was purrrrfect.. and the narration by Zachary and Desiree was five star more than perfect - two very talented narrators who delivered big.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Love love love! Asher Whitlock is the perfect Father , I was hooked before I even knew I started! The characters , oh I was all over this. You get so many tropes that my little heart was giddy with joy. The narration really brought it all together for me. This is now my Favorite . I found myself sitting in my car listening away because I did not want to miss a thing and pause is not an option! At the same time I don’t want it to end . You’ll
Fall

❤️❤️ Asher and Phoebe are COUPLE GOALS! ❤️❤️
Oh.My.God. What did Corrine Michaels put in this book? I loved it SO DANG MUCH!
Zachary Webber absolutely KILLED it as Asher. I loved his pacing, his inflection, the tenderness that went into his voice when he was talking/signing with his daughter. WOW!!
Desiree Ketchum was also just amazing! She had the perfect balance of snark, but also was able to sound so vulnerable. I loved that the character of Phoebe didn't have her whole life together. She was trying to figure things out, so she made mistakes.
Honestly, Im not a huge 5🌟 giver. I have to connect with the characters, enjoyed the banter, feel the build up of tension and need. THEN I can get into all my feelings. I loved how much Asher loved his girls and how protective he became.
Plus he SAID all those feelings, in WORDS, he didn't run from or try to push them away. Once he was in, he was in and I LOVED that.
This is the kind of Audiobook that I finished and immediately wanted to start at the beginning at.
I am now dying for the next book in the series!

I loved it
The story was great, I was excited for this one. The pace was just right, I love this trope the plot was good and I finished this one pretty fast. Asher was such a great dad a little grumpy but such a protective hero to the ones he love. I also love Liv and Phoebe’s interactions, it was so sweet. The narration was good I love Zachary Webber but this one was kinda off, the long pauses at some part before continuing to the next line was kinda weird, but still loved him as Asher. Desiree Ketchum did great too, I love how she portrays Phoebe’s character here and brought it to life. Can't wait for this series to continue with the rest of the side characters.

Oh my heart! Swoon!
Asher Whitlock has been living a pretty uneventful life, considering. You see, he had a hookup with his friend Sara ten years ago and from that they got the adorable Olivia he loves more than anything and he co—parents with her. So, when Sara, a documentary filmmaker has to leave for a few months for a shoot, he’s elated that he’ll have his kid full time while the mom is away. Well, small hitch in the plans. He needs a nanny. He may be a small town cop, but he’s also SWAT team leader, so it’s not like he has extra time on his hands. He does have off days, but he’ll need help. Sara has already did all the checking and they already have a nanny coming who can communicate using ASL with Olivia, who’s hearing impaired.
As they usually do, things go south when the nanny can’t take the job and Asher’s boss proposes that he hires his daughter. Oh heck, no! The last time Phoebe babysat for Olivia, Olivia gave herself a “peculiar” haircut and Phoebe’s flaky to say the least. But he’s in a pickle and what is he going to say to his boss?
Phobe’s also not having the best time in her life. She’s coming home before getting her degree in Audiology and her dad is still trying to figure out why she’s decided to transfer schools. So, when her dad kinda forces her to take the job, she really can’t say no.
When Asher and Phoebe meet again, he has to reconcile with the fact that she is now a grad student, who’s passionate about audiology and someone who connects with his daughter immediately. That was the easy part. The hard one? She’s his boss’s daughter, 14 years younger and hotter than any nanny should be. As for Phoebe, she’s in love with Olivia… and why does Asher have to be so hot and swoony???
Ok, there are book boyfriends… We all have them. I want Asher to be my book husband! OMG, the swoon! I love everything about this book: how protective of Olivia Phoebe is, how respectful of Phoebe’s goals in life Asher is, how healthy his relationship with Sara is, how perfect they are for each other in every sense…
You expect Corinne Michaels to tug at your heartstrings, but I was in all the feels from page 1 in this book! LOVED IT! 6 stars
(Read the bonus epilogue!!!!!! Oh the extra swoon!)
I can’t wait for the audiobook… Zachary Webber and Desirée Ketchum. Sweet Lawd!
Edited for audiobook review: Well, I have by now read and listened to this book…
Let me tell you, it was a 6-star read and I think the audiobook made it even better! Hmm, am I establishing a 7-star system now?!
Desiree Ketchum is perfection as the fun, sassy Phoebe and who doesn’t love Zachary Webber bringing all his swoony game?
My full review of the book is here: https://tinyurl.com/FHRFeview
Don’t miss this one. Single dad, nanny, small town… Yup, go get this in your ears!
