Summary

My new neighbor is a firefighter - and a scorching-hot single dad - but I swear I didn’t set off that smoke alarm on purpose.

(And I was beyond mortified when he rushed in and saw me naked.)

Nothing happened, of course - because I, Winnie MacAllister, romance junkie and owner of a constantly broken heart, have sworn off men for one solid year. Even protective men with chiseled jaws, bulging biceps, and deep brown eyes that make my breath come faster. Even former SEALs with broad chests and strong hands that make my skin sizzle. Even gorgeous, grumpy guys who have their hands full raising two adorable little girls and claim they don’t believe in love.

Until Dex kisses me one night, and I drop all my defenses.

(Also my underwear.)

He says he’s not gentle, and he’s right. He says I should take the dream job I’m offered in another state, and he’s right. He says he’s too old for me and could never be the man I deserve.

He’s wrong.

Dex and I might be 12 years apart, but the fire between us is the kind that will never burn out.

How can I convince him to give happily-ever-after with me a chance?

Let this story Ingite your ears

This is a stand-alone but it’s part of Melanie Harlow's Cloverleigh Farms series . You see some of the characters from stories. I strongly suggest getting those also .
Hero is Dex. Heroine is Winnie .
Dex is a single dad with two daughters, and a firefighter. When Dex moves next door to Winnie her hearts go bump bump bump . Winnie is trying hard to fight her attraction to Dex. She’s taking a break from the opposite $ex altogether Grab it and see when Winnie and Dex give their attraction a go .

Stephen Dexter, Kirsten Leigh Performance is fantastic. They both brought the story and characters to live

❤️🔥🥵 loved the chemistry

The first book I've listened to by this author and I was pleasantly impressed. The story is well-written and flows from Chapter to chapter. The two girls had me in fits of laughter and the children reminded me of my own. The chemistry is off the charts. I could relate to this story quite a bit. I look forward to reading the others in this series.

Tears of joy

I didn't realise this was part of cloverleigh farm collection when i started and I didn't realise it was book 6 but listening to this book makes me so excited to read the other books too now! Luna and Hallie was the cutest, sometimes kids aren't written the best especially in romance books but Harlow wrote them perfectly. Dex was the perfect hairy ogre for the Princess Winnie. I loved their dynamic and the spice levels was also perfect. Such a great read!

Most Vapid female character I have ever read.

I read and listen to a LOT of romance, and can forgive a lot of faults. I quit this book partway through the second chapter (15 pages in according to kindle). The female love interest was insultingly bad. Her introduction is perving on her neighbor while painting her toes like some 70's Highschool-girl cliché. She's not only talking to her cat - which would be quirky and fun if she wasn't ALSO obsessing over her neighbor that she has only seen through a window minutes ago like a psychopathic stalker... falling "half in love" with someone because they're hot and you made up some fantasy about them is not some made up "emophelia" attachment style - it's an obsessive disorder. I was in the market for a romance, not a stalker fantasy.

The narrators were both very good.

Single dad, neighbor with benefits, age gap romance perfection!

Ignite is part of the Cloverleigh Farms series and is a next generation story! When I saw this was announced I was so excited as I adore this small town (Michigan set) romance series. This single dad, neighbor-with-benefits (while the heroine is on a break from relationships) romance was so good!

Dex is 34-years-old, a former Navy SEAL who now works as a firefighter. He also co-parents his to 2 daughters (Luna 5 and Hallie 8). Upon moving into their new townhouse, Dex and his girls meet their new neighbor, 22-year-old Winnie. Winnie has always fallen in love fast, easily, and often. So after a failed engagement, she made a bet with her best friend that she won’t fall in love in the next 6 months. But when she sees her hot, grumpy new neighbor, Dex…

I loved this romance so much. Dex is the grumpy single dad next door who adores his daughters to pieces but thinks he’s too old for Winnie and not a good relationship guy because of his previous marriage. Winnie’s relationships with Dex’s daughters is the sweetest and I loved how they had a role in Winnie & Dex’s relationship too. Lots of cute cats in here: Piglet and Freddie Purrcury. Winnie has a lot in common with Dex’s daughters and could relate to them so easily, she was also raised by a single dad who was a former military man (her dad was marines) and swore a lot around his daughters (the swear jar fund was adorable). Dex & Winnie have lots of steamy times out on their patios and in the kitchen, he wants to take care of her and keep her safe, a smoke detector going off leads to a hilariously embarrassing moment, and he even can sew and fixes up her dress after ripping it off her earlier in the night. 🔥

If you’ve read the rest of the Cloverleigh Farms series this will feel so comforting to be back in this adorable small town, we see a lot of familiar characters: Winnie’s parents Mack & Frannie and her sisters, April & Tyler, Winnie works at Cloverleigh Farms with her dad Mack who is still the CFO. This also has a fun crossover moment with MH’s Bellamy Creek series, Winnie’s cousin Chip (April & Tyler’s biological son) ends up getting engaged to Mariah who was the daughter featured in her dad’s book Make Me Yours (Bellamy Creek). It was so fun to see 15-17 years of time later with these characters!

Great as a stand-alone

I have not read any of the Cloverleigh Farms books so I was worried I would be clueless about the characters from earlier books but it did not make the enjoyment any less. It did make me curious to read the other books eventually!

This is an age gap, single dad, grumpy sunshine story. It was romantic and spicy and I loved it.

This is my first time hearing Kirsten Leigh narrate. She has a very sweet voice which was perfect for Winnie. This is my new favorite Stephen Dexter narration! He is so good!

Age gap done so well

Dex & Winnie are absolutely everything. The ultimate grumpy/sunshine story. I loved how her sisters picked on her for basically crushing on their dad, it made me chuckle.

Dex is the grumpy, ex Navy SEAL, firefighter single dad who just moved in next door. And he’s sexy to boot. How can a girl like Winnie resist that?

Winnie is the cute 22 year old who loves love, but finds herself in a bet to refrain from love after a bad break-up with someone not worthy. She’s on a man/dating hiatus.

Hallie & Luna stole the show with their early morning bash sessions on Dex. The blowing off Cheetos one had me close to tears laughing. And I love their relationship with Winnie.

Dex & Winnie find themselves in a very unique neighborly friendship when the girls bombard Winnie’s condo on move in day. Their relationship is easy, they just have this level of connection that is so natural. As these two figure out that they are mutually attracted to each other, their natural connection blossoms. As they’re both guarded, the wrong thing is often said, but it’s usually Dex who needs to apologize. He’s getting pretty good at it though.
These two were hot when together and they both just seemed to fit in each other’s lives despite the 12 year age gap.

Stephen Dexter as Dex was phenomenal. I love his witty portrayal of Hallie & Luna. Kirsten Leigh did an awesome job as Winnie. They both draw you in and make you feel like you are a part of the story.

Single Dad, Age Gap Romance

There were plenty of similarities between Makes Me Yours and Ignite (single dad, age gap romance, hero intent on keeping things casual, heroine having a close relationship with the kids) but even so, that didn't stop me from being totally invested. This grumpy-sunshine romance (because Dex could really be a grump) had me so hooked. Divorced dad Dex was a firefighter who adored his two girls and was so present in their lives. When he moved into a new condo, the girls immediately latched on to their next door neighbor, Winnie. The attraction between Dex and Winnie was instant and when they agreed to a casual fling, well, the sparks were flying!

Naturally, feelings got involved and when things got serious, Dex pulled away and encouraged Winnie to accept a job offer out of state. Again (like in Make Me Yours), I wanted to shake some sense into him, but I did understand. Issues with his father who walked out when he was a child, and the breakdown of his marriage, had left Dex dealing with a lot of self-doubt. Dex's girls, Luna and Hallie, were total stars and provided so much comic relief. Loved them! I admit, I was pretty emotional by the end and Harlow managed to get a few tears out of me.

Single dad Story

This is a single dad romance. It's an entertaining story the single dad is extremely grumpy. its age gap. I always love the creative way the authors have the children do different scenes. The narrators did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life.

annoying temper tantrums, but cute kids

this guy has anger issues. constantly getting upset and so that either yells directly at or about -but in front of- the FMC, and he has to apologize to make it all better. and she forgives him so easily, with every temper tantrum. I get it, there's gotta be an issue or drama to make the book interesting, but this seemed overly so. the kids were cute though.
