Summary
Earth is an alien civilization’s experimental training ground, and Ethan is caught in the middle of it.
The experiment’s final stage is here, an apocalyptic Swarm ravenous for biomass and Psy. Its arrival wakes a dormant extraterrestrial artifact that seizes Ethan and transforms him into something more than human.
Phase Titan—the title means nothing to Ethan or his scientist companion. But to the alien babe he finds fighting the local warlord the Titans are legendary warriors, a myth that she came to Earth chasing, and the only hope for stopping the Swarm.
He has the tools to get it done—weapons that channel Psy, a bioengineered body unlike anything else on Earth, and an alien ship filled with cutting-edge technology. As strong as Ethan is, he can’t do it alone. He needs companions known as Harmonics to shape his Titan power and keep him sane as he carries a burden he never asked for.
But before Ethan can save the world, he’ll have to survive. The local militia aren’t making it easy. They’ve found Ethan’s base, a secret government lab, and put it under siege.
And worse lurks within the militia’s ranks than raiders looking for spoils—things that aren’t entirely human anymore. Things that only a Titan can stand toe to toe with. Luckily for Earth, Ethan is just the Titan for the job.

Naive fool
Ethan is an idiot. Let the bad guys leave and bring reinforcements. Why not, I’m sure they are all good people down deep. Moron MC. You don’t need expertise just common sense. Now I’m supposed to believe the same guy is capable of surviving?

Apocalypse & Sci-fi.
First off.
(Lethargy isn't the only word. Just the one I'm using as an example.)
Narrators need to stop trying to change our language. Chris Harbour isn't the only narrator I've heard recently that is putting the emphasis on the wrong syllable on the word "lethargy". It's not hard to check on this. I did it in less than a minute.
I Googled, "How do you pronounce the word lethargy?" and it pops up in the blink of an eye. I even went into the Oxford Cambridge dictionary and listened to both the UK and US pronunciations along with the first one that popped up in the search.
Okay.
The book is great.
The MC works at an Area 51 type facility and gets some alien super powers and becomes a "Titan."
And in the new harem supers framework, the hero's powers get boosted the more women he has in his super harem group and the women also get super powers when they mate/bond with him.
It's pretty awesome.
If you enjoy this subgenre you'll also enjoy David Burke's Prism Academy series.
So the MC and his women need to protect the base they are at from a new tyrant that's risen to power in the local town and is somehow being backed by the aliens that have caused the Apocalypse.
This is a real fun and exciting read/listen and if you like harem LitRPG, Sci-fi and Apocalypse adventure, you're going to like this book. (and hopefully, series)

meh
there is a book called The Princess Bride that was abridged and adapted to a movie the book contained a rant about trees and tree huger crap that no one wanted to sit through during the movie and thus a Classic film was made. this has ranting in it about the redhead and being independent and having a doctorate while at the same time needing the man(titan) all I'll say is you cant have your cake and eat it to. it was irritating to listen to the ranting with the kind of story it is.

I’m interested
The story is fine. I enjoy pulp sci fi and fantasy so the bar is low to surpass for me.
The performance is passable. The guy did alright but the woman was very stiff. Hopefully she improves in the sequel but it honestly won’t stop me from listening in on further books.

Looking forward to the next!
It took a bit for me to get into this one but man am I glad I stuck through it! My biggest issue was how slow the MC was developing and the limited application of Psionic abilities. But once I got off my overly large horse and just got into the story and the characters… I was able to start enjoying it.
I really like the growth of the MC but especially Claire! Then the opening up of Ava. I’m looking forward to see who the next harmonic will be and what traits or abilities she will add to the team. I also look forward to unraveling the secrets of Titan Six!
The narrators also did a great job.

An Okay Start
The characters were mildly interesting. I was hoping for more backstory to better flesh them out. The overall story is going in an interesting direction. Hopefully the next book better builds on everything.
