Summary
Tattooed, muscled, and fierce, they look like felons; but these highly trained agents are humanity's protectors - the only ones standing between Earth and the threats of the galaxy. They are the Star Guardians.
A born geek, Juanita has dreamed of exploring the stars for as long as she can remember. Getting kidnapped by slavers from another planet? Not so much. If she's lucky, she might be able to convince the hot guy protecting her from the others to help her escape.
A bounty hunter allied with the Star Guardians, Orion is undercover on the slavers' ship, plotting to end their kidnapping trips to Earth. He didn't expect to meet someone as funny, sexy, and determined as Juanita among the victims. He wants to protect her from the thugs molesting her, but that could blow his cover and jeopardize his mission. He must choose between keeping her safe and dooming Earth to be a target for slavers forever.

Very enjoyable listen
I had read the book and found it very entertaining so I decided to try the audible version. After listening, I'm looking forward to the audible of book 2.

Don't waste your time or money
I would like to say I enjoyed the story, the characters, the dialog, heck I wish something in this "book" was entertaining. This is for the high school crowd. Audible should not charge more than 1.99 for this travesty, and they would not let me return it. Hope the rest of the series is better, but then I don't plan to stick around and find out. Disappointing.

Entertaining Sci-fi romance
I have never read a book by this author prior to listening to this audiobook, but I enjoyed it very much. The usual hapless Earth women and virile aliens in a tale of abduction thwarted by a hero and the love that ensues between him and the heroine. There are villains and fight scenes and a little sexy romancing near the end, but relatively mild. The narration would have been better if done by more than one narrator.

Solid popcorn alien romance
While the short length and almost YA writing style makes this a “wait for a sale purchase” kind of book, this was a fun listen with a good mix of camp, nooky, and sci-fi. Vivianne Leheny is a great narrator of hard sci-fi (take InFury Born) and pretty good in romances, even if her voicing tends to make the women sound older than the twenty-somethings they generally are. I found Juanita’s geekdom adorable and endearing and loved that she owned her curves. I thought the whole “Orion is a constant disappointment and no one supports him” plot to be a tad overdone. While the dialogue and the naughty bits (sporadic hankypanky and two on-the-short-side scenes at ch 21 &22) could be clunky at times, this was a good enough popcorn alien romance for me to wishlist the rest to await a sale.
Series a lot like this:
🚀 Galactic Guardians by Anna Hackett even has the same narrator- and you can get books 1-3 for a single credit in the omnibus
🚀 Alien Instinct by Tracy Lauren - similar ratio of camp to nooky to sci-fi, but with dual narration and better nooky.
Better series, depending which way you lean:
❤️ Want more camp & nooky with alien beefcakes, but less sci-fi & military?
I love the first couple of books in the Ice Planet Barbarian series.
❤️ Want less camp and more dangerous alpha alien warriors? Books 1-4 of Dark Planet Warriors are available for 1 credit. Some of the books have dual narration and two of my top three for that series (books 1 & 4) are in the omnibus.
❤️ Want more traditional space opera sci-fi that happens to also give good romance? If you don’t need alien males, the Consortium Rebellion trilogy is full credit worthy and features kickbutt ladies just as tough as their men.
Series that fizzled the sizzle for me:
💔 The Lasaran by Dianne Duvall. Between the baby making focus and the heavy eye roll content,
I stopped at book 1.
💔 Tornians /Grim by M.K. Elden. The straight to nooky, dubious consent, and kid-heavy themes went beyond eye roll to cringey. This was a Hard Pass for me.

A well written page turner!
So glad I picked this up! I’ve read a lot of sci-fi space operas, and this is a new plot that was unexpectedly awesome. I love how the Greek references are interwoven in the story.

A little disappointed
Juanita’s sci-fi fan girl enthusiasm and obliviousness is a little hard to take. Generally, people that have just been abducted by extraterrestrial humans would normally be fearful or at least a little concerned, but Juanita seems to think she’s a tourist on a Star Trek episode. I’ve listen to other series by the author under this nom de plume that I have thoroughly enjoyed. I’m not too sure if I’ll continue with this series. But because of my past experience I may give it another try. Ms. Leheny has never disappointed me with her presentations.

The story is great
But the person reading it puts me to sleep. If you like smoker voice she’s perfect but otherwise she isn’t worth it. I didn’t think there was away for this book to suck but this reader found away!!!

A little too geeky
Way too many references to Earth sci-fi culture, i.e. Star Trek, Star Gate, etc. The heroine comes across as a nerdy (maybe college) freshman, with a crush.
