Story
Telryn "Trip" Yert has always been a little odd, with hunches that are too accurate to explain. Magic is feared and forbidden in Iskandia, so he's struggled his whole life to hide his eccentricities. As a boy, he was forced to watch his mother's execution. Her crime? Witchcraft. Understandably, Trip wants nothing to do with the power that lurks within him, always threatening to reveal itself. Instead, he dedicates himself to serving as an officer in the king's army, to battling pirates and imperial conquerors. He longs to become a soldier as respected and renowned as General Zirkander.

Story
I’m Val Thorvald, and I’m an assassin. When magical bad guys hurt people, I take care of them. Permanently. This doesn’t make me popular with the rest of the magical community — as you can tell from the numerous break-ins and assassination attempts I’ve endured over the years. But thanks to my half-elven blood, a powerful sword named Chopper, and a telepathic tiger with an attitude, I’ve always been able to handle my problems with aplomb. Maybe some cursing and swearing, too, but definitely aplomb.

An enforcer wanted dead for crimes she didn’t commit.... An assassin wanted dead for crimes he did commit.... Normally, they would be enemies, but they both seek the same thing: exoneration. Unfortunately, a nefarious underground organization is attempting to kill the one man who could grant it to them - the emperor. If they want to win their freedom, they’ll have to battle powerful wizards, outscheme master schemers, and defeat bloodthirsty monsters, all while dodging friendly fire and evading the law. Exoneration isn’t easy.

Summary
This set includes all five books of an internationally best-selling young adult epic fantasy with a slow-burn romance!
The world will drown beneath the waves...only the last mage can stop it.
Vahly, the last mage, is the world’s biggest disappointment. Raised by the dragons, she was born to become the magical Earth Queen, the only one who can stop the Sea Queen’s mad plan to drown everything in existence.
But there’s one problem: Vahly possesses no magic whatsoever.
The oceans begin to rise, limiting the dragons’ hunting grounds and fouling their water supply, endangering their very home. Vahly can’t let the dragons she calls family die under the Sea Queen’s magic, so as a last hope, she journeys to a legendary arcane library in search of answers.
When she discovers an ancient scroll about a ritual conducted deep in the homeland of the elves, she gathers her dragon allies to find the king of that great, forest-dwelling race.
Before she reaches that kingdom, she finds a handsome elven royal cloaked in dark magic, twisted and powerful. Arcturus. His memory has holes he can’t explain, and when they learn his king is in league with the Sea Queen, Vahly and Arcturus must band together to defeat the elven king and to gain access to the secrets of Vahly’s unique magic before the ocean swallows the dragons’ homeland.
Download the complete set of the Dragons Rising series today and enjoy listening about thrilling dragons, mysterious elves, exciting gryphons, sword and sorcery, and a nice dose of humor and romance!

Great story
I really enjoyed this story! Great and original take on elemental magic, making each different type tied to different magical beings. And with sea folk, dragons, elves and the last surviving human.. We're in for quite a ride!
I really enjoyed the character growth and development of their relationships over time, made all the more obvious by the mulitple POV's throughout the story. And listening to all 5 books as one fluid story made the experience all the better.
I think the narrator did a great job, I enjoyed her way of telling the story and the voices she gave each character, really suited them.
Highly recommend this for someone into fantasy.

5 Dragon Stars
I absolutely enjoyed this! The world building is cool. Fun take on elemental magic. Each is tied to a different magical being.
🌱- Humans 🌊 - Sea Folk
🌪- Elves 🔥 - Dragons
Multiple POVs throughout. Plenty of action. Romance. A Quest. Mystery. Laughs. Happily Ever After.
Narrator did a great job. She doesn't have a huge range of voices but she definitely differentiates between characters. I personally just had a hard time connecting with her.
📚 Some Quotes:
Once again his presence hit Vahly like a strong drink.
.
Leaning on the nearest tree, Vahly sucked in deep breaths. "Are you stopping because I'm about to fall on my face or because you actually need to track?"
His mouth twitched. "A little bit of both."
.
Nix snorted. "If you lads don't stop clucking the Jade's are going to think we brought a cart of chickens, and you'll be supper before they stop to realize who they're eating."

Dragons and merpeople, loved it.
This series was nicely written and narrated and was a very original story. Dragons versus Mermaids, can the dragons keep the very earth they stand on or will it be covered by the sea and its mer-people claim the flooded cities for themselves.

The Complete Series
I listen to the first three books as individuals and its great to be able to have the complete series. This contains five books, the first four is following the main story and the fifth book is placed further in the future after everything has happened and is a bridge book to new series still to come.
Dragons, Elves, Sea folk and the last surviving human..... What a combination. The Evil Sea Queen what's to flood the the world and wipe out elves, dragons and human. Vahly (the last human) who was saved and raised by dragons must find her way if any have a chance to survive. This is a great story with good characters and I enjoyed listening to it all.
I have been enjoying the characters as they develop and the relationship with each other. It's good to have the audio so that I can listen and enjoy the story without looking at the screen and I also enjoyed the way the story is told.
Definitely would also be interested in the future stories still be told and I'm interested on how much it could potentially be different due to what occurs in book five.

It was decent
To be honest, I was captured by the cover art. Once I started listening, I quickly realized it wasn't really my thing. The narrator did a good job and the story was well written, it just wasn't my genre. I did tough it out through the main story, but skipped the epilogue.
It was written and labeled as a YA-Fantasy-Romance, so I should have stopped there. The constant fawning over and flirting with the only compatible mate left in the entire world was a bit much.
There were definitely some interesting story arcs and some unexpected twists, but also some gaping holes. IE, the Sea Queen is creating more water to flood the world, but the Earth Queen can somehow push the ocean back with earth without causing additional flooding in other parts of the world? Elsewhere, the Sea general is told by the "seer" that he will survive what is to come, but at some point that story arc just drops. Also, there's a vast world, which is cool, but also very linear. It felt like the probabilities were way too far off... even with the "pull of magic".
It is a great story for younger readers interested in fantasy. I may just be too old and salty for this one. :)

distracting unnatural intonation
I can't get over the odd way the narrator ended sentences for both dialog and narration, it was both distracting and boring because all characters talked the same in all situations and sounded like the narration. it really gave it a few tries but I just couldn't get into it because of the way the narrator talked.

Excellent Story telling
As usual Alisha Klapheke has built a world that is complete and absolutely enrapturing. Her characters feel authentic in their struggles and successes. The story feels original even in terms of high fantasy, which can be very typical if you read the genre often. I loved the series, and I’m so glad I got the complete box set. The narration is excellent, and this is WELL worth your audible credit.
