Summary
The complete 6-book series as one box set. Over 47 hours of enthralling sci-fi action.
- A brutal alien enemy. A black-ops taskforce, operating outside the rules of war -
The Sa’Nerra were close to defeat, then everything changed. Armed with a neural weapon, the brutal alien warriors turned Fleet crew against their own. Entire warships went rogue. Suspicion and fear ran riot. Surrender seemed like the only option.
But Lucas Sterling knows that in the fight against the Sa’Nerra there is only victory or death.
As a black-ops Omega Captain, Sterling was selected for his cold-hearted ability to do whatever it takes to win, no matter the personal cost. He knows that the only way to beat the Sa’Nerra is to fight like they do—without emotion, without boundaries and without mercy.
Unburdened by the rules of war, the Omega Taskforce are humanity’s only hope against a seemingly unconquerable foe.The fate of humanity rests in the hands of Captain Sterling and the Omega officers of the warship Invictus. But when anyone could be the enemy, who can Sterling really trust?
Omega Taskforce is a fast-paced space opera action-adventure series that grips you from the first word and never lets go. If you enjoy ruthless alien warriors, running gun battles, devastating space combat, mystery, high-stakes action and epic twists, you’ll love it. Start listening today!

Great story, strong characters
I have just finished the complete series of Omega Taskforce and enjoyed it immensely. I felt engaged throughout and enjoyed the characters and the way the story was told and unfolded.
As they say, all good things must come to an end but I do hope for more in time to come from the writer.

Entertaining space adventures
A good old space adventure. Can't go wrong with that. Each book in the series was entertaining and engaging and didn't make the overall series feel to long.
Strong characters you can become invested in, with enough qwerks to make them unique and interesting without making the ridiculous or cliche.
Set in a universe that makes you want to know more and plenty of opportunities were created in this series for sequals, prequals and spin offs.

"To the battles and the hard choices..."
As the title suggests, this is an audio box set of the complete six book series by G.J.Ogden, Omega Taskforce, narrated by Steve Barnes, with a run time of over forty three hours. And it is an immersive, sometimes harrowing, listen.
The six books contained are
- Omega Taskforce
- Good Recons
- The Exile
- Obsidian Fleet
- Dreadnaught
- The Vanguard
Some time ago, I read (see separate review) book one, Omega Taskforce, and enjoyed it sufficiently to hold to continue. So, when I saw that a complete box set was available, I snapped it up. The books follow Captain Stirling as he and his officers says war against an alien force intent on enslaving human kind. With little, or no, help from each authorities, and facing an enemy with the ability to install an irreversible neural control over anyone captured, Stirling's crew work under a special Omega directive which directs that immediate death is meted on anyone or anywhere which is compromised, he that a person, even one previously loved it trusted, or a habitat, even if still teeming with people. It is the ultimate 'end justifies the means'.
Characterisation grows as the series develops, especially for Sterling himself and his first officer, Mercedes Banks, although several others also become interesting. Plenty of action, both close contact and on ship scale, but not so much that it swallows the book. Some repetition, but not overly much, although it does seem astonishing that, given how Stirling and his close officers are at the heart of every little incident, it never occurred to him to sometimes delegate occasionally.
I was initially disappointed with the voice of the narrator, whose delivery of the text seemed a little disjointed and spoken in a weird rather breathy whisper. But his voicing of the protagonists was excellent, each distinctively and appropriately individual, and, given that the conversations are a very large part of the writing, my discomfort with his general reading voice slowly dispersed until, by book two, it seemed perfectly natural. Overall, his was an excellent performance, greatly enhancing both character development and my personal enjoyment.
My thanks to the rights holder of Omega Taskforce, the Complete Series, who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Free Audiobook Codes. Forty three hours is a long time to listen but the listing of chapters also informs of the start of each new book so it is possible to listen to each book individually if desired. Great value, a good read, and recommended to all S.F.fans who enjoy their military fiction to be just that little bit different.

Great story but narrator hard to get used to.
Great story but I honestly had trouble getting used to the narrator, sorry Steve, but I returned the book once before because I just could not enjoy the sound.
Bad memory so I rebought it because it is the prequel of another one I bought, almost re-returned it, but I forced myself because I enjoy GJ’s stories and want to listen to the sequel. Glad I did, it took me 40h to get used to the voice, but story was grand, now can’t wait to start on the sequel :)

Loved it!
I loved this book more then I expected. I think it has to do with the characters.
The main character, Lucas Sterling, is different to other character I have come across. I hated him to begin with but once I got to know him better, I disliked him a little less.
There are more females to males as secondary characters but I thought the author did an excellent job in making them real, and different. we saw what they were like without being told. I have to admit that this book is one of the few that I have read where I like the females characters. My Favourite character has to be Admiral Griffin. I love her dry sense of humour.
The book is not perfect. I found it odd when Mercedes didn't answer Lucas back when he made a comment of transferring her to another ship due to her comment about what he had been doing with another captain. I expected her to say something like 'what would Admiral Griffin say' or 'wouldn't it be ironic if I was put on captain Mcqueen's ship', but she apologises. That doesn't seem to fit her character to me. There are other negatives but I could pass them since I was hooked to the story and characters.
This is an action packed adventure with a slow burn romance. When I say a slow romance I mean a really slow romance. However, this fits Lucas personality. if it happened quickly I wouldn't have believed it.
I wish there were more in this series.
The narrator, I have to admit, I didn't like in book one, but by book two I was used to him and by the end of the series I couldn’t imagine anyone else narrating the book.
There is plenty of graphic violence, moderate sporadic profanity and mild sexual reference. Only one sex scene that happened behind closed doors.
