Summary

The descendant of history’s most infamous soldiers will inherit his ancestor’s war.

Frustrated by restrictive rules, maverick warship commander, Dalton Reeves, has crossed the line one time too many. Disciplined for violating orders, Reeves is packed off to “The Abyss”–a dangerous and isolated space city named Concord Station, and officially the worst assignment in the galaxy.

Built to foster diplomacy between the six galactic realms, Concord is now nothing but a debauched, corrupt hellhole infested by crime lords, degenerates and outright failures. It’s also Commander Reeves’ last chance to do something significant with his life.

Amidst escalating interstellar tensions, a long-forgotten enemy emerges from the mysterious Shadow Space to threaten war. Events are quickly set in motion that will propel Concord Station from obscurity to the most strategically important outpost in the galaxy.

But as the secret of Reeves’ dark origin is revealed, he’s thrust into the center of the conflict in more ways than one. Dalton Reeves is a descendant of war, but he’s not the only one.

The ancient enemy not only seeks conquest, but to exact vengeance upon the sole descendant of two infamous soldiers that annihilated the alien’s homeworld a millennium ago.

With the six realms on the brink of all-out war, can Commander Reeves face both his demons and his bitter rivals to become the warrior and the leader the galaxy desperately needs him to be?

Descendants of War is a new sci-fi action-adventure series set in a vivid, multi-species universe. It’s filled with danger, intrigue, and drama played out against the tense backdrop of a looming war versus an ancient and bitter enemy. If you like Babylon 5 and Deep Space 9, this could be the series you’ve been waiting for.

Return of the Sa'nerra

It's been a thousand years since the Omega team, led by Sterling and Banks, defeated the Sa'nerra. Dalton Reeves is the last descendant of the pair, when the Sa'nerra return they are looking for revenge on him. Good start to a new series, as the Sa'nerra, with an even greater threat not far behind.

A good sci fi tale - nothing fancy but a solid tale

The description refers to Babylon 5 and Deep Space 9 and the novel is in a similar setting as both of these. If you like these shows then this audiobook would be of interest.

There’s the standard sci fi tropes throughout although that’s not a detraction of the book rather it’s delivering a solid sci fi novel. I could relate a lot of the plot / sub plot to the B5 and DS9 shows with the author adding their own spin to them. As the first in a series it does a good job of setting up the back drop and progressing a story line.

While listening it was easy going and narration was good. My one quibble was with one character’s voice being overly sibilant with lots of ssssss. It’s good when narrators add different voices but personally it did touch a nerve. That said it was appropriate for that character and others may prefer it.

Overall it’s a solid 1 credit purchase if you want some sci fi escapism. I received a copy of this audiobook for free and this review is my own view

Pure joy one again !!

The author G. J. Ogden continues the six books series that started as The Omega Taskforce which the human race barely survived against a race of powerful aliens which never surrender and don’t take prisoners, it was a brutal war which took the Omega task force including AI’s to finally turn the tide and push the remaining enemy out of the known universe.
One thousand years have passed the big war was pretty much forgotten and the human race have expended across the universe discovering new races which not always got along so a big space station was build on the borders that connects all six to create a safe zone for politics and trades.
Not to disclose more this is where I’ll stop, I will say that the writer got a great imagination, his stories are always full with action, unexpected twists and are so simple to understand making them pure joy.
As always Doug Tisdale Jr. narration is always done perfectly without missing a beat.
This is the first of a series all I can hope that I will receive the rest for reviewing.

I absolutely recommend this author books to read or to listen especially if you want to enjoy a good story without brain breaking science which is great for listening everywhere including while driving.

Descendant of War

The was the thing that attracted me first and I like the description. I wasn't expecting to like this book because I had listened to two other scifi similar to this book and they were a disappointment. so I had no expectation of Descendant of War.
However I was surprised that I actually liked it. I don't know if was because of the narrator, the characters, or the plot. Or it could be a combination of all three.
I liked the fact that the character didn't swear in every sentence (sporadic).
There was some mild sexual reference. More to do with the district that was on the space station. But there is strong violence which I don't mind.

I'm really looking forward to the other books in this series. would highly recommend it to anyone who loves scifi with suspense, intrigue, action, and a captain who does what he feels like.

More please, action packed and entertaining

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The story is excellent, entertaining, fast paced and action packed. It is impossible not to draw a comparison to Babylon 5, a space station in neutral space, lots of political and diplomatic games and the return of an ancient enemy but this is not a criticism as it is a storyline that works . I loved the main characters, the maverick CO, the loyal and deadly first officer and the ancient Android ambassador with built in plasma cannons. G J Ogden is an excellent writer. Doug Tisdale It does a fine job with the narration with a good range of voices for the various races. Loved it more please as soon as possible as it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.
